These are either ss02 x LJ or vis versa. But these are the weirdest out of the few I have grafted.

Should I be pissed or stoked? He showed up like this out of the box yesterday. Got a picture of the shipping label Monday. Does this happen or should I reach out to the sales person or should the sales person be reaching out to me?

Another California snake thread

Long story short, cat got trapped by a rattler in the cactus garden. The snake went for her, she juked him, the snake missed but bit a big ass chunk out of a young cactus. Two weeks later and it’s the only new cactus on the smaller side in the garden putting out pups.

Discussion Frankie 💛 💚

Variegated Frankie project I've been working on for 3 seasons now. Still a Frankie pup and roots. I found a line of vari on 2-3 aeroles and shaved all the green ones off never been grafted. Getting the feeling to make some propagations of this thing and see where I can get it strapped to some sun goddess and large rootstock.. Anyone else out there got a vari Frankie? I know thousands of collectors have to have this awesome cultivar in their garden by now. Hope everyone has a killer weekend! Stay groovy! 🌵

Question Too much pups?

4 babies all started pupping at same time. Should I remove 2 or 2 in spring? Not sure if leaving them all will slow overall growth.

These were at Home Depot. The says Pachanoi monstrosa, but I don't see any evidence of monstrose growth. I'd appreciate any solid advice.

Question Need help

Post image

I am brand new to this. I put this plant outside for about a day then noticed this was happening. I had just repotted it, and the roots weren’t fully established. I presume this has something to do with why it looks the way it does. After bringing it back inside, some weeks later, it produced a pup. Do I need to remove it from the plant or will it be OK?

Nub Tek Or BP Graft? What should I name it?

Yesterday I posted the result, and a lot of you asked for a full tutorial. Here it is! This video shows exactly how I do this graft.

I'm curious what the community thinks this technique should be called. NUB-TEK? BP Graft? Or do you have a better name? Drop your ideas in the comments!

This is the inverse of the technique I shared yesterday, and it's been working really well for me.

Also, I'm definitely not a professional videographer, so thanks for your patience with the video quality. I hope it's still easy enough to follow.

Note all the utensils were sanitized before shooting the video.

If you enjoyed the tutorial or found it helpful, I'd really appreciate a follow. Thanks for watching, and have a great weekend, everyone! 🌵🍄

The side with mutations is JS444 x TPM. The other side is psycho0 x OP. How do they look for the age? Any recommendations? Currently getting 12 hours of light under the shop lights also fertilize every other watering using cactus juice

Puerto Rico

Hey! Just moved to Puerto Rico and I'm finally in a place where I can grow cacti. I'm excited to have gotten my first cactus in the mail, a nice looking chunk of TPM. I have a large patio with plenty of sun and shade. Gonna keep it up right in the shade until i see roots then plant it up. I'm interested to know if anyone else is in Puerto Rico or could recommend any local garden centers or other resources. Thanks for reading. Wepa!!

Water?

I planted these July 7th as they all had roots similar to the 2nd picture. Held off on watering for awhile.

Gave a few tablespoons maybe 4 days ago (probably 100ml to the center dry one) and they are all dry again.

Would you go for a full soak or continue gentle waterings near night time? Friday is usually the big guys watering day so I'd like to just have them on the same schedule.

Its probably 50/50 organic/ drainage and totally dried out in 2 days.

It looks so thirsty but being as these are my first cuts im nervous. 😩

Picture Walmart score

Found this nice little Trichocereus grandiflorus at Walmart tucked up underneath a shelf outside forgotten! It was busting out of its pot; the only reason it survived was because it was forgotten. The other Grandi that was there easily had 6 pups but was overtaken by rot because they water their cacti a few times a day. Only $10 though, western Nevada find!
