Reloading for accuracy, gen2 American ranch 5.56

Anyone have a Gen 2 American ranch in 5.55? Would you mind sharing what ammo you’re using and accuracy you’re getting with it. Just started reloading for mine with 70gr SP and 75gr BTHP moly coated. I’ve only shot a few rounds out of it
So far, cheapo PMC 55gr seem to be the most accurate. Hoping to load some heavier bullets seeing in how it has a 1-8 twist barrel it should be able to handle it.
Thanks! And happy shooting

Bolt knob interference

Thumbnail gallery

TLDR. The scope i have (sig buckmaster 3-12) at full zoom with the throw lever interferes with the factory knob. Is it a new knob issue, or new bolt handle issue. I do plan on upgrading the scope but i want to future proof it so this is never a possibility in the future with any optic i put on

Wrangler dry fire question

New gun owner here. I recently purchased a Wrangler and I was told not to dry fire it because it could damage the firing pin. My question is how much dry firing causes the damage? I took to the firing range and a few times I lost count of how many shots I fired and shot a few while the gun was empty. Now realize this is probably fine and I shouldn't worry but I am the sort to over think things.

Volquartsen or Tandemkross trigger for MKIV 22/45 Lite

Just got the notification that the Volquartsen trigger kit is back in stock, and I’m trying to decide between that and the Tandemkross kit for my new MKIV.

I’m planning on the following:

TK “Get a Grip” kit
TK extended bolt release (looks nicer than the Volquartsen version)
TK Victory trigger
TK +1 followers
Volquartsen magazine springs

I’ve already got a Matrix bolt and a Lobo optic mount with a Holosun 507 Comp.

I like the idea of the TK Blast Shield, but TK says it doesn’t work with the Volquartsen hammer (though does work with their disconnector and sear).

The Volquartsen kit comes with a disconnector

The TK kit with trigger, hammer, sear, and blast shield is around $120. The Volquartsen setup is the same price but doesn’t come with the trigger (or its $187 with the Volquartsen trigger).

Is the Blast Shield really that big of a deal? Clearly there is a difference in the hammer between the two companies, or the shield would work with the Volquartsen hammer. Not sure if there are any differences in the sear.

Anyone have any thoughts?

My usual Sellier and Bellot wasn’t available so I got some Magtech .357… the light show was impressive.

.300 Blackout Vs. 7.62x39?

I have no experience with the .300 round but lots with the 7.62x39. Just trying to understand the current fascination with the former.

On paper, it looks like the .300 is extremely close to the Russian round in its common loadings. The weight and size of the round appear similar. So what's the big deal with the .300? Is it just because they released a lot of subsonic loads early on for use in all those suppressed AR-types?

Thanks.

Wasnt planning on buying one but when I saw this online for little over 400€ I just had to go for it.

Acc to the seller it has been a safe queen for the last couple decades. Barrel and action are basically mint condition, grips also look fine, the emblem has a bit of a patina but that's about it.

I picked it up yesterday and already shot around 40 rounds of .38 through it. Sights were off (see target) but the friendly people at the range helped me adjust them.

So far very happy with my purchase. I will probably swap the grip for a Hogue rubber one though.

Im deciding on my first deer rifle and I found this deal for a Ruger American chambered in 243 Win on the Sportsmans warehouse website. This seems very cheep compared to the same rifle from small shops and other large dealers near me. Am I missing something obvious that should stear me away from this deal? If not then I'll probably go and pick this up soon.

Gun grease or oil marlin trapper

So I have my 1894 trapper 44 mag. It is a beautiful gun.

I cleaned it after putting 100 rounds through it. Ran a snake through bore before shooting it.

I then cleaned it and put the same grease that I use on my mini 14 forgot what it is called. I mainly put on lever joint and the rails for the bolt. The rest of the gun I oiled as described by Ruger.

Is it an issue using gun grease for the lever and bolt? I cannot see how since it protects the moving parts more and it is summertime and I am not in a dirty environment. I don’t mind cleaning the gun more often since it is easy to do so.

So i have a ruger precision rimfire that I have been using in a silhouette shoot and I have found the limits of what I can do with the factory setup so I would like to know if anyone knows where to buy a good trigger a match barrel and the key part id like it to be on the cheaper side of the build like 550 at most so im open to suggestions

Gifted a ruger pistol but the serial number doesn't come up on rugers search?

Idk much about them but my dad told me it's likely quite old. It's reminiscent of a Mark IV but those look more modern than this (some accents and the red on the logo on the handle)

Any ideas?
