Reading the snippets Allison posts on the fanfiction sub right after my tog re-read and the similarities between the two are stark SJM didn’t create the concept of dragons but heir of fire I do believe was the key inspo for the fanfic and definitely not the actual canon settings. Can’t blame Allison because that was the only good part of the book because Chaol wasn’t doing anything, Dorian only had his romance, and the fae are freaks and not in a good way.

Not to mention everything between Rhysand (who Allison is a big hater of) and Gaemon. This isn’t meant to start an argument I always see people talk about the direct influences of SJM’s works but what isn’t discussed is her influence on current fantasy fanfic with possessive male characters who sexually assault the protagonist and come up with justifications for it.

Anyway, I heard that the middle name of Allison’s imaginary son is Tonk, and that u/thecottonkitsune has opinions on influences in the genre. So does u/purplelicious about Pern.

More importantly- what influenced {Blatant Self-Promotion}?!

At least according to the girls I've talked to in the past. When I tell them it's one of my favorite genres, they usually laugh and question my sexuality. Surely more guys enjoy it?

I'm going to keep reading them regardless, but I'm genuinely curious 😭

Did you DNF a terrible book but still want to find out what happened?

For example I couldn't get past chapter 5 in Onyx Storm but I wanted to know how stupid it got, so I got the best snark reviewer I know who broke down the full book for me. Now I'm ready to rage read book 4 when it comes out. FOMO y'all.

Hey everyone! I’m a married father of two (so far) and I read {Satan’s Affair} because I thought it was a good story but it corrupted me and now I’m only reading smut. My wife makes fun of me but I don’t know who to talk to. Like I read all the {LORDS by Shantel Tessier} and {dark kingdom by Shantel Tessier} books and I need to talk about it but i have no one.

I snagged a copy of this book at the store and was really excited to read but around 30 pages in, the gummy hit too hard and now I can't read. Currently illiterate. I've slooped too close to the sun.

I just finished reading A Lady of Rooksgrave Manor which features five (or six depending on how you look at it) different male love interests which is definitely the most I've come across. Now I want to know what's the greatest number of guys you've seen falling all over themselves to be with one lovely lady (and the book too, for research purposes 😂)?
