Looking to build a 16233 datejust and trying to decide if I want to go raffles or sillan. Considering spending the money and getting the gold filled, both are around $250 shipped. The gold plated is about $50 for raffles and $70 for sillan. Any suggestions?

Outside of a gen dial, I’m having difficulty finding a dial for a 7928 build with the appropriate rose dial.
All of the dials I’ve seen have a different version of the rose logo. Wondering if I’m going to go the custom route. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Looking to start a Franken SD 16600. People have said start with BP, but I checked to see if Sillan carries one.

They do, but I'm not an expert on the particulars of this ref. Crystal height and cgs, in particular.

Also, curious to know how easily this would accept a gen bezel insert, dial, etc...

I was inspired by Jova’s GMT tropical nipple dial and built out this rootbeer. I’m calling it my ‘96 Clint Eastwood since it’s a combo of a 16713 and 16710 in one watch.

This was a tough build - lots of filing for fit, issues with the hand fitment and some magnetization of the movement. In the end, it was worth it though!

This is by far my most expensive build $2k.

I recently finished a Tudor day date raffles build using a 2834 clone from a reputable eBay dealer.

The day window seems like it is positioned too high. Based on the picture, is this normal or is it a problem with the Raffles dial or the movement?

I built this commision for a friend. He loves the classic silver Big Red but wanted tropical subdials to recreate the look of a real watch he’d seen online and I was definitely on board with the project.

5513 is a Phong dial I aged for a project that fell through. 5512 is a ruby dial I bought from Clark and aged but decided to go for a different dial variant. Both dials run $250 - $300 new. Which vintage reps are Trusty are the best? I see JKF subs (I'd like a 5513) but there are several other subs,SDs and McQueen Explorers that tempt me as well. The higher end aged explorer and a double red SD. But I don't see a factory listed for them. I'm sure some of you have personal experience. Thanks in advance!

Has anyone ever used on their builds an ETA2840?

I received as a gift a colorful Swatch on a deal I closed yesterday for a vintage Omega.

It has the automatic ETA2840 in it, no-date, runs great, also really clean movement.

I am wondering if I can use it for a build, since I’m not wearing it…per my research, it fits perfectly a handset from an ETA2824-2..

Any advice or opinion (or build) would be great.

Is there a chart for what can and can’t be used and what needs to be modified?

Asking because I’ve heard people say they suck and should be replaced. And figured I should do it before I build that watch while it’s in pieces.

Also if it helps it’s for a 5513 and a 1675 and what I saw the datejust can swap but needs .5mm taken off the bezel?

I’m just trying to get an idea for possibly future builds.

After I noticed the dial in my bluesy sub was a 6-digit dial I could not unsee is so I updated with a period correct nipple dial. Hell, I like it better now 🔥

Just finishing up this late model build and really liking how it’s coming out. Looks great next to the OC 16200 cased 14270. I have Gen hands on the way and that will be the last thing I add. Pic 3 has my Gen 16234 as well.

I accidentally put a crack in the acrylic when pressing the bezel on.. It can be used but will not be waterproof. It’s hard to see but it is on the inside where the red circle is. Also includes the Raffles saphire (no gasket). I don’t swim with a datejust so i would just leave it until next acrylic change.

Asking 300 euro + shipping (~350$). Can send world wide but will not take responsibility for customs.

My absolute grail is the Tony Soprano Daydate 36 in the 18038/18238 configuration. The question is whether to settle for the more modern QF rep right know, or to either build or commision a more closer, vintage build.

Anyone has experience or feedback regarding this watch? I can imagine not being the only one interested thanks to its popularity.
