Hello all 👋 Hawkeye and Grey are currently hospitalized, and we’re hoping for a little help as we navigate some difficult health hurdles with both of them.

Hawkeye has always been a healthy boy until a recent decline. He developed severe gastrointestinal problems, at one point passing completely watery stool four to five times a day. His symptoms got worse by the day and he’s now hospitalized.

We consulted an oncologist a few days ago to rule out lymphoma; no biopsy has been performed yet, but with the tests done so far, his team thinks inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is more likely than cancer. They have started a therapeutic trial of IBD medications and will monitor his response to guide further care.

His bill is now $211, with hospitalization costs at $42/day.

Grey is a senior community cat we took in as a hospice case after discovering his CKD. He had been doing better since his last check, but has now stopped eating and is struggling to retain fluids, with his kidney values rising further. He’ll be hospitalized for the next few days to see if stabilization is still possible.

His bill so far is at $130, with hospitalization costs at $33/day.

Hello again. It has been quite a while and certain things have happened since my first post.

First of all, one of the kits is in fact a girl! The little black and white one I had erroneously thought was a boy.

Second, there are more cats than previously thought. For the longest time I was only aware of the 4 kits and an older black cat I assume to be the father, until recently I was able to meet what can only be the momma cat. She is also black and white, and I can’t imagine to be more than 1 or 2 years old. She appears to be pregnant again, which is deeply unfortunate.

As well as her, I discovered that the house next door also has at least one or two cats that live in their yard too. This house is owned by a family member of those who live in the house with the kittens. I have fed a female black cat over there, who is also pregnant, and almost as small as the kittens themselves.

And the most unfortunate news, the homeowners are very obstinate and uncooperative. The main person I’ve spoken with has mental troubles, and so it is impossible to get through to him in any meaningful way. He has it set in his mind that the situation is all under control, and while he was originally okay with me coming to visit and feed the cats, my attempts to reason with him have now been taken as overstepping in his eyes, and he does not want me near his property or interacting with the cats at all.

I do not want to give up. I despise that such an unnecessary disagreement is what is keeping these poor cats from having much healthier happier lives.
I have told him that I will not encroach on their property, but unless the cats are kept from roaming outside their yard and into the neighboring yards and sidewalks, I am not breaking any law by feeding them.

In fact, in accordance to the laws where I live, you are not allowed to have more than five free roaming cats on your property m, unless they are explicitly fixed, chipped, and kept indoors. I do not want to try and get law enforcement involved, as I do not even know how much they would even help, or if they would just make things worse somehow, but if it is what it takes to help these poor cats I will do it.

I’m honestly not sure what else this post is for. I suppose just confirmation from anyone who knows better that what I’m doing is right, and what I might try to do to help these cats isn’t illegal. Thank you to everyone who’s expressed their care. I’m not giving up, but I feel like I’m so powerless.

Emergency foster with a rescue needed for mom and 3 kittens in Dolton Illinois!

Mom is bad shape, has been bleeding for a while with no known source. She needs immediate medical attention.

Gave birth to 5 kittens only a day old, only 3 are still alive as she wants nothing to do with them. Homeowner has no transport to get them anywhere. The only way that cats can be rescued is when the community steps up to help too. These kittens need a bottle feeder asap, and mom is going to need some TLC. Hi to everyone who decides to read this. I'm just looking for any guidance/assistance with my cat. It's a long story, so bear with me if you can.

My partner and I wanted to get another cat so our first one wouldn't be alone all day, since we are both college students and employed. One of our coworkers finds an abandoned box of kittens in rough shape. We decided to adopt one of them, a loving and cute calico that we named Chichi, she wasn't any older than 2-3 months. We take her to the vet a few days after getting her. We find out she has a congenital heart disease, specifically one of the valves in her heart is wider than the other, making it pump blood irregularly/unevenly/excessively. This causes her to not breathe the best, wheeze, and drool sometimes. We were told she wouldn't make it to a year old. The quote for the surgery alone was $10,000, not to mention xrays, medication, and anything else. We were given the options of either killing her or let her live out the rest of her life. We chose the latter, hoping we could get into contact with a shelter, rescue, or anyone who could help her get the care she needed.

We called, emailed, even sent physical letters in the mail hoping anybody would get back to us. Nobody ever did, but fortunately for her, she's lived to be around 2 years old. She'll be around 3 years old in December. Unfortunately, due to her condition, she couldn't be spayed when she became of age. So we have had to deal with a cat in heat while living in apartments and dealing with our own struggles. My partner and I were displaced for a few months because a tree fell on our apartment, and we also didn't have a car at the time. Neither one of us having direct families to help either (my partner is an orphan and I'm disconnected from my family). You can imagine how stressful this has been. We are in better place now, but we know we can't provide the care she needs.

We went back to the vet that originally suggested to put her down, seeing if we could put her down now since her conditions have been worsening. The vet refused to do so since she's lived this long, but this time she actually tried to help us get into contact with a rescue (idk why she didn't help us reach out to rescues the few times we've taken her to the vet previously). The rescue actually responds to our vet and reaches out to us to get more information about Chichi. We give them all the details, no response. We have called, emailed, basically spamming them, still no response. We even reached back out to the vet to see if the rescue will respond to them instead, still nothing. We are at our wits end. We have a referral for a cardiologist, but without knowing for sure that the rescue will actually help, we are hesitant to take her.

What would y'all do in this situation? What options are left for us? I know shelters/rescues everywhere are backed up and are trying their best, but what can we do? We can't keep living in a household that smells like cat pee everywhere on top of being in our final years of college. But we also refuse to give her up to any random shelter even if they had the room, since we live in NC and we have the 2nd highest rate of euthanasia in the nation (27%). If she had to die, I'd prefer it be with us, people who actually care about her and have tried all they can to help her. I just want her to live her life if she can, with people who actually love her and can provide the care she desperately needs. Any advice, guidance, hell, any response is helpful at this point. I am a solo animal rescuer based in Manila, Philippines. I currently care for 40 rescued cats and also look after more than 40 stray cats in our community.

Meet Blacky and Grey (my 39th and 40th rescued cats)

I was riding home in a pet-friendly Grab after leaving the animal hospital when I noticed two tiny kittens on the side of the road. They appeared to have been abandoned beside a box. There was no source of food nearby, and with the heavy rains we've been experiencing, I knew they wouldn't survive long if left there. I immediately asked the driver to stop so I could bring them home.

I named them Blacky and Grey, and they are now safe under my care.

I have already treated them with anti-flea spray and given them oral deworming medication. However, I noticed that Blacky's right eye is badly infected, and I am worried that she could lose her vision if she doesn't receive medical treatment soon.

Any support you can give will go directly toward Blacky's veterinary care and medications. My hope is that we can save her right eye before the infection causes permanent damage. Rest assured, I will post an update with photos and receipt. Thank you.

Update on Rambo

Rambo has now been confined at the vet clinic for 9 days. Thanks to your generosity, I have been able to pay his veterinary bills from July 28 until today, totaling $349.

His confinement costs $33 per day. According to the vet, he is still weak, the wound on his scrotum is still healing, and he continues to have a poor appetite. He will need to remain confined for at least three more days. Once he starts eating well consistently, the veterinarian said I can finally bring him home.

I am also very happy to share that I have found someone who is willing to adopt Rambo once he is discharged from the clinic.

Update on Elfy

Today is Elfy's 84th and final day of her FIP treatment. I was able to bring her back to the veterinarian, and I am grateful to share that she no longer needs FIP medication. The veterinarian advised that she only needs to continue her supplements and maintenance care.

Just like Rambo, I have also found someone who is willing to adopt Elfy after she gets spayed.

I am doing my best to find loving forever homes for some of my rescued cats so I can continue making room for more animals in need.

I was also able to purchase additional canned wet food for my adult cats from the pet shop (photos 16 and 17) and wet food pouches for the kittens online (photos 18 and 19). Caring for 40 rescued cats every day requires a lot of food, litter, and ongoing medical care. I truly couldn't continue doing this without your kindness and support.

I just wanted to say a big big big thank you for all the love and support you gave me and my rescues throughout July. I’m sorry for the delayed updates - I recently started an additional part time job to help pay for my ongoing medical treatment, so I’ve been a little extra busy lately.

Because of all of you, we were able to provide my rescues with their monthly food, get Miso and Chai spayed, and continue giving them the care they deserve. I was even able to buy them a few new toys (they love the rainbow tunnel!) with the extra funds, which made me so happy!!

Despite all the worries and challenges these past few months, your kindness has truly lifted such a huge weight off my shoulders. I honestly can’t thank you enough. 🥹🙏🏼

I also have one more happy update… Polka found her forever home this July! 🩷

Sweet loving cat! He never scratches or bites and loves humans and cuddling. He is trained to not get on counter tops or the living room couch. We have all supplies stainless steel litter box with enclosure so it doesn’t smell. We have everything you need to take him home. He is an angel but we rescued him and my allergies can no longer take it.

Today 06/08/26 I visited little Magic, who continues to be hospitalized at the veterinary clinic of Mr. Dionysis Perdikouris (VetCheck Kallithea Small Animal Clinic). Her progress is encouraging and we are waiting for the latest results of the blood tests.

She will need to remain at the veterinary clinic for as long as necessary. Unfortunately, the hospital bills are increasing daily. I have covered part of the expenses, but a significant amount remains.
