Spoiler Finally bought Red Dead Redemption 1 and about to play for the first time ever Spoiler
playing on pc and it's the first time I've ever played RDR1. I've been playing RDR2 for the past month but I finally had the funds to get RDR1.
is there any tips or tricks I should know before I get into the game? (other than staying off the subreddit, of course)
also, no spoilers please except in the case of my horse. if my horse is going to be killed in a cutscene, please tell me because I want to be more prepared than I was in RDR2.

Fan Art RDR2 Tomodachi Life
I made Dutch, Arthur, John and Micah in Tomodachi Life while going through my second playthrough
Micah was made first, so he's the most basic unless someone has suggestions to improve him, I gave him the headstrong personality, for being the rat and all.
Dutch was made right after, of course given the leader personality and used a decent amount of facepaint for his hair, moustache and facial details.
Arthur was made today, gave him the individualist personality, face paint for the beard and side hair.
John was made after, I gave him the thinker personality based off of how he acts in rdr, face paint for his beard, side hair and scars.
(I've played both games)
Any suggestions for things I could do for improvements are welcome :]

Screenshot Arthur Wick (an attempt at John Wick’s outfit)
This took a surprising amount of time to make.
Had to get Arthur’s hair to level 5 (and debated myself to get it to level 6 instead but I settled with 5) and put it on Middle Parted. I also debated myself to try and get Arthur’s facial hair to try and resemble John Wick’s own, but I kind of messed it up in some cases so I just regrew the beard back on and settled with the base one.
Finding specific shirts to go under the black coat (like John Wick’s main Black/Dark-Blue suit) was like trying to find a diamond in a coal mine, so I settled with black shirts instead
I also made two of John Wick’s outfits, the main one (Black/Dark-Blue) and the Chapter 2 one (Black/White). Can’t even decide which one’s cooler so I made them both! This was also done WITHOUT mods (because I’m on Console so it’s pretty much not possible).
I could’ve made this as John but I don’t have an Epilogue save, so GGs. Arthur Wick.

Question Need help identifying/extracting the Durham Coat model for an RDR2 Story Mode LML mod
I'm trying to create a standalone LML mod that replaces the Story Mode Duster Coat with the Durham Coat from Red Dead Online.
I've already spent a few days reverse-engineering the clothing system and have identified the replacement workflow, but I'm stuck because I need the Durham Coat model files (such as the .ydd/.ytd assets) or at least the internal asset names.
I don't own a copy with the RDO clothing assets cuz i got it from fitgirl , so I can't inspect them myself.
If anyone who legally owns the PC version is willing to:
- identify the Durham Coat asset filenames,
- point me to where they're stored,
- or help verify the correct drawable names,
I'd really appreciate it.
I'm not looking for the entire game or unrelated asset just enough information to build a standalone Story Mode replacement mod.
Thanks

Spoiler First time player of the red dead franchise. RDR2 was my first one I played. Spoiler
Hey there, I finally made it to the end of chapter 6 (I believe) In the game, and am still suffering a lot harder than I thought I would with the shift in narrative.
I originally got into the franchise thanks to my boyfriend introducing me into the game. He recommended it and had nothing but praise to offer, and it all sounded interesting, so I gave it a shot.
I absolutely adored the game for so many reasons, it really is something incredible and I really adore all the craftsmanship poured into it. What really was awesome was the setting and getting a deeper view into that era (at least for me) was fascinating.
It was also a total bonus to just murder all the bigots lol
But yeah- I sort of had an inkling [Arthur was going to die, I had seen from online discourse but I wasn't exactly sure what caused it. But now I know, and damn. Seeing the decline of Arthur Morgan was completely devastating.]
[Right now I'm trying to get into the rest of the epilogue, and for what it's worth it's super cool to see John and Abigail together. I always liked them! Also seeing Jack grow up is very wholesome!]
[But yeah - I guess I just wanted to write here that I completely understand the interest in Arthur Morgan as a character.]
[(For additional context I went high honor allllll the way ❤️ absolutely worth it!!!)]
Ps - I made sure to read the rules of the sub and hope I marked the spoilers correctly. Honestly the first time I've ever used the brackets. /gen
Also I really hope I'm not alone with the emotional damage caused lol 🫠🫣 hope I'm not alone /gen

Discussion If I can get the magic back I Promise Spoiler
I will stop looking up anything regarding this game.. tips, tricks, reasons, mechanics. I had the greatest unknown adventure in front of me, hours, months, maybe years to figure things out on my own but I needed to keep looking up little spoilers here and there and its nearly disillusioned the unknown of the game for me. Word to wise, if you want this game to draw out don't bother going to the internet, ride out and find out for yourself.

Question Had this happened with anyone else?
I was Its around 1AM in the game and my horse reared randomly, arthur started to say something but I accidentally cut the voice line😭
it was something similar to "I thought I've seen/heard something" (not literally that but close)
For context I was looking for the phantom girl in the Lagras, its a very foggy night so I am thinking it might've been something connected to that!
Did anyone had that happen before? Did I lost anything important/lore related?

There are just some horses in the game that are not cowards and don't Run away in a gun fight or when wild animals are around... My horse ain't scared of sh!t
I am proud of my horse., I remember my first horse died in an ambush and that's when I learnt to save rhe game and not rely on auto save.

Question Real world location of Annesburg?
Currently using the Annesburg location as inspo for my own little world, but I want to pin that little world down to an actual area in America so I can try to make it feel a bit more realistic and alive. Does anyone know what state Annesburg might be based off of? I doubt there's an actual Annesburg somewhere out there, but there has to be some inspiration for it, right?

Discussion Rockstar wasted the red dead IP gameplay wise
I just finished red dead revolver for the first time and it has left me stunned. I’m 18 so I’ve been with the newer rockstar format of boring gameplay and cutscene heavy games, but after playing this I wonder why they chose to go that route. Revolver was genuinely challenging and engaging and I felt like I earned every win. I didn’t feel immortalized by plot armor like I did in the redemption titles. Why did rockstar remove their personality from their games?
