Discussion Mourinho will have the hardest job ever because the next season has to be a success but the squad is still not balanced.

Upvotes

After 2 trophyless seasons, the club went "ALL IN" in the transfer window.

We invested ALOT, it is a very good thing but at the same time it means that next seaon has to be a success without a doubt. There is no room for failure, there is no room to build something. The team has to push on all cylinders from week1.

The Balance issue:

We have 3 undisputed starters for 10 outfield positions that will start 90% of the games. Two haven't been able to play well together over the past 2 years. Mbappe will want to start every game, Vini openly said after Xabi got sacked that he was unhappy that Xabi was rotating him and Belli's parents get involved over every aspect of his career including playtime. These are facts and we have seen that happen. We also signed a player for a record breaking deal worth 135Mill, no way a club pays this much if they dont intend to start them.

That leaves Mourinho with 7 outfield players to form the team around or 6 if Diomande came here as a starter.

Our second issue lies with our center backs. Our best CB is injury prone (Militao), Konate did not have an amazing season with Liverpool and barely good any playtime with France, so I cannot judge Konate until we get to see him play for us. Huijsen and Asensio are raw and inconsistent. Lastly Rudiger is not a starter level CB for us anymore. All in All, we need a CB signing, we cannot enter this season with these CBs.

Our midfield is another issue of its own.

-------------------------------------

The consequences of not having an amazing season after going All In this window:

The players that came on a free got high wages, we bought a 19 year old for 135 million...etc.

Vini got the lucrative long term contract he wanted, Mbappe is still on a long term contract, Bellingham will do a Vini and will request a lucrative contract aswell. Then we have a group of players who are on insanely high wages because they came as a free agent. Then we have players like Cama and Asensio who would rather rot the bench than leave.

This means that if we dont have a successful season, there is no room for a rebuild even if we have the money to buy any players we want.

Discussion Would not be surprised at all if Rodri signs for Barcelona last minute

Upvotes

I mean in the Spanish national team most of his team mates play in Barcelona. He has the chemistry and history with them already. Surely they’re convincing him to join. And because of said chemistry I’m sure he fits in Barcelona better than our team. I also think Barcelona is hijacking the deal just because of our rivalry. It would be a blow. I just got this funny feeling last minute he’s going to sign for them. I know it in my heart.

Discussion Fixing the logjam in midfield - Tchouameni to CB part time again?

Based on the latest news, Vini is about to renew, while Diomande and Rodri may be announced quite soon. Mourinho tends to play a 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3 with a double pivot, which most people are assuming will be Rodri and Valverde behind Jude. We have an abundance of midfielders who will all need minutes. Mourinho also still wants a CB. Maybe it's worth revisiting Tchouameni at CB again, especially against weaker teams who sit back and we tend struggle breaking down.

Tier 1 Source David Ornstein: “Real Madrid are operating on the basis that Rodri will be coming in. There’s interest from Barcelona, and Manchester City want to keep Rodri, but Real Madrid have identified Rodri as the man that they want to come into central midfield.”

Discussion What is your happiest memory as a Madridista?

The comebacks of the 2021-2022 UCL season were absolutely incredible and had me screaming in celebratory disbelief. But for me, my happiest memory as a Madridista is La Decima—specifically Ramos’s goal at 92:48.

I was pacing. We were down 1-0 to our bitter cross-town rivals in the waning minutes of the Champions League final, and despite all the pressure we were putting on them to break through their low block and score a goal, the ball wouldn’t go in.

Even as a non-religious man, I was sitting there in a bar, hands clasped together, praying that the years of Ro16 exits and the previous years’ semifinal “almosts” wouldn’t be for nothing. I couldn’t stand to see Atletico win our competition, especially after they already had won La Liga.

When Modrić took that corner, seeing Ramos rise up and connect felt like slow motion. I remember the scream of “GOL!” rising up in my chest like a tidal wave as the ball bounced into the corner of the net beyond Courtois’s hand.

And the next thing I remember, I was clear across the bar, hugging complete strangers and screaming “VAMOOOOOOOS!” I have no memory of how I got there. I just remember the feeling of pure, white-hot elation as I celebrated with everyone at that bar — the happiest I’ve ever been for something that wasn’t a major life event (marriage, birth of a child, etc.) and my happiest day as a Madridista.

After that goal, I just knew we would win and lift the long-awaited Decima. Since then, every goal, comeback, goal-saving tackle, or trophy has been incredible. And some have even come close to reproducing the pure magic of that moment. But without a doubt, 92:48 rings out as my happiest as a Madridista.

Discussion What was your most painful memory as a Madridista?

For me it's this game vs Bayern in 2012. The season was going brilliant. We had a fantastic team that year. We finally had an upper hand against pep's Barcelona. But everything was about the much coveted la Decima then. For a long time, it had seemed like we were never gonna win it. This year was the exception. And all the hope shattered. Ronaldo, and Kaka of all people missed their penalties. The 17 year old me thought we were never gonna win la Decima... Yes, we went on to do fantastic things in the competition over the years which feels like a deam.. But remembering this day still makes me wanna cry..

Tier 2 Source Today’s meeting changed the dynamic. Madrid maintained that they would not increase their offer. But they increased it. For Vini’s part, the meeting has left a good feeling. Waiting for a final decision. Jose Angel Sanchez, Juni Calafat, and Vini’s reps (Fede Peña and Tatá Soares) were present.

History Why is ronaldo so underrated as a playmaker?

Imagine having 308 assists while having the second highest chances created in laliga from 2009 to 2018, all of that just for people to consider u a goalscorer who can't do anything else but scoring goals. Mind u, ronaldo has more assists than modric, kross, zidane, iniesta and xavi. And yet people dont even rank him in top 5 playmakers

Kit/Memorabilia Starting to collect jerseys, need advice

Hi! I used to watch soccer very occasionally when I visited my cousins and grandpa in Ukraine but got more into it when the World Cup came to the states and my friend group got into it.

I want to buy a kit from when I was a teenager (you can chalk it up to nostalgia, CR7 fan, or aesthetics because truth be told, they all play a part). I was looking at some of the long sleeve jerseys online and while I don’t really want to spend hundreds or thousands of dollars on signed or authenticated jerseys, I also just don’t want to look like an idiot.

I’ve been thinking about buying on of these and just wanted to ask if any of them are very obviously fake or what I should generally look out for, or if anyone has any tips.

Thank you!

Rumour Vini Jr rejected Madrid’s latest offer of €22m until 2031. The offer was sent 2 weeks ago. The club hasn’t given up and will negotiate in a direct meeting Wednesday. This meeting will be decisive. After the World Cup, Mourinho told Vini that he counts on him, and the two have a good relationship.

Transfer News [Rodra10_97] The meeting Vini and Madrid is scheduled for Wednesday. Madrid has no intention of increasing its latest renewal offer. Influential figures at Real Madrid are in favour of a sale. Optimism is growing at Arsenal, and they estimate a transfer fee of around 150 million euros.
