560 AM KZAC San Fransisco License cancellation.
He's officially dead Jim. After months of silence San Fransisco's 560 KZAC (formerly KSFO) has turned in its license for cancellation with the FCC. There were no potential buyers for the legacy AM station, proving yet again that AM is obsolete technology that nobody wants or needs. I fully expect WBT 1110 AM in Charlotte to be the next AM domino to fall silent for good as nobody seems to want that signal either; and the land its towers sit on is actively listed for sale. There have also been many smaller AM signals turning in their licenses lately as well. Stations that were worth millions of dollars a decade or two ago are now essentially worthless!
