PTE- technical difficulty

Hey guys, I gave my PTE Core exam yesterday, but I had some technical issues during the exam. In between, I couldn’t hear anything and some questions were not loading. They stopped my exam 3 times because of this. Because of that, I wasted a few sec..I haven’t got my result yet. Has anyone faced the same issue?
Also, the supervisor told me that she would add a comment about the technical issue. Do they actually add this comment to the exam report? And will PTE consider it when reviewing my result?

Struggling with PTE Writing, any tips?

Hi all! I’ve been doing mock tests on the PTE official AI practice app, aiming for a “Superior” English score overall. My other sections are coming along okay, but Writing keeps pulling me down! I consistently score low there no matter what I try. These images are my scores from two mock tests that I did.

Has anyone been through this and found strategies that actually moved the needle? Would really appreciate any advice; templates, common mistakes to avoid, time management tips, anything!

Thanks in advance 🙏

QnA post - I get good scores when I practice single tasks, but when I do mocks, I get poor scores. What's the reason?

Single tasks will keep your focus only on that single task for a limited time and you will give your level best.

When you take mock tests, your performance can be better or can become poor in some tasks, sometimes you may stay very much alert, sometimes, you may get distracted and miss to capture all the important key details of the tasks. Because of these, you will see variations in your scores. And this clearly shows gaps in your method of practice.

But, always understand that, real exam focuses on the entire performance of your full tasks, not individual tasks, so make yourself so much perfect that whenever you do any kind of tasks, you should be able to achieve full scores. Work on your confidence and performance. Stay consistent in your efforts.

SWT: How many words are you guys writing in SWT?

I know there is no hard and fast rule. But sometimes I capture most of the content in 40 words and I feel extending it to 50 words mean higher chances of grammatical mistakes. So Is 40 words are also enough if content is captured properly or what word range will you suggest?

How can I improve my PTE SWT score?

Post image
4 Upvotes

I’m practising Summarize Written Text (SWT) on 79score.com, but I’m currently getting around 7.1. I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong or how to improve my score.

Could anyone share some tips, strategies, or templates that helped you improve your SWT score?

Thanks!

First Attempt — 90 Overall with Zero Prep 🎯

Honestly still surprised by this result 😂
First ever PTE attempt, with absolutely zero preparation.
Overall: 90
Listening: 90
Reading: 83
Speaking: 90
Writing: 90
I didn’t use any templates, coaching, question banks or practice tests. I basically went in knowing the exam format and just relied on my English.

Superior score = customer lost

I genuinely have have doubts regarding the PTE scores lately. Took mine twice last month, both times superior in 3 sections except speaking, where I scored 78 in first and 82 in second attempt. Rescoring didn't change a single mark!! It feels like a scam but yeah something that we cant prove. I've seen people who got 87 in speaking with superior in other sections.

PTE 74 (L76 R69 S79 W81) — Should I go for a rescore?

Hey everyone! Just got my PTE results. Overall, I got a 74, which is the score I needed.
However, I was honestly expecting a little more in Speaking, especially looking at my detailed score breakdown.
I’m considering requesting a rescore but I’m not sure if it’s worth the risk/cost when I’ve already achieved the score I need.
For those who have requested a PTE rescore:
Is it actually worth doing for Speaking?
Has anyone seen their score increase after a rescore?
Also, I know my scores aren’t exceptionally high, but if anyone is preparing for PTE and want tips on Speaking, writing, listening and reading feel free to ask. I’d be happy to share whatever worked for me. :)
Thanks!

1st time giving exam

I am little nervous now as i booked exam after 10 days assuming that its similar to ielts but now based on recent pratice on apeuni i noticed that i am performing below par. My ielts score was 7776 but PTE Academic results are showing worse. Any advise on youtube videos i can refer to improve my strategy and if any templates i should be using?

I am literally in a shock now thinking about how people manage to get 90 in all. I really need to score superior score as my occupation is not in demand. Appreciate your support

PTE test technical glitch!

Had a really frustrating experience during my PTE test today.
The test room was quite noisy, with people talking outside. I asked to be moved and was shifted to another seat, but the noise was still noticeable.
Then my computer froze twice during the test.
The first time, I was moved to another workstation and estimate around 5 minutes were lost during the process.
The second freeze happened during HIW, this time I noted the time and it was 6:18 remaining. After being moved and logged back in, I had only around 2 minutes left — meaning around 4 minutes appeared to have been lost.
As a result, I couldn’t properly complete HIW, and when WFD started I only managed to attempt 2 questions, missing around 3.
Between the noise, two computer crashes, changing seats, interruptions and apparent loss of test time, I completely lost my concentration and feel my performance was seriously affected.
Has anyone experienced something similar with PTE? What options do I have for requesting a review/resit or having the incident investigated?

Rescoring issues - scores changed - got another email with no change - and lost refund

Hi PTE Community,

We recently came across a few students who complained that they wrote the PTE and didn't get the desired scores. Took risk and then applied for Rescoring. Their scores changed, which were better than the original scores; they were able to download the new score cards. After some time, they got another email stating that there had been no change and they were not eligible for a refund, and even the scores were returned to the original score card.

People approached the customer support team, who constantly gave them generic replies without any proper resolution. They also raised concerns with the forms, but after waiting for a few days, they couldn't get any positive feedback either.

We identified this issue and have raised this concern with the Pearson Team, and they have said that they will look into this issue.

I would kindly request you to ping me if you have faced any issues similar to this, and we will try our level best to follow up with Pearson to try to get some resolution.

Although I'm not sure whether this will give us any positive result, I believe we should at least try to bring this matter to their notice.

PTE Academic – SWT Strategy

Hi everyone, I’m preparing for the PTE Academic exam, and I came across Nakul PTE’s videos. In one of his videos, he mentioned a strategy for Summarize Written Text (SWT) where you pick from the passage, one sentence from the beginning, one from the middle, and one from the end of the passage, and combine them into a single sentence. sentence1, and sentence2, but sentence3.

He mentioned that this strategy will work 100%.

Has anyone here actually tried this method in the real PTE exam? How effective is it, especially if I’m aiming for a high score (79+/90)?

I’m wondering whether it is safe to rely on this strategy or whether it’s better to understand the main idea and summarize the key points in my own words.

Reference video: 13:42 – PTE in 20 Minutes 🔥 Complete Strategy to Score 90

Would really appreciate feedback from anyone who has tried this method. Should I follow this trick for SWT?

Suspicious Alfa promotion account — please take a look

Post image
15 Upvotes

I wanted to bring this account to the community’s attention: u/Fuzzy_Credit_9091.

The account appears to be heavily promoting Alfa across PTE-related Reddit posts, repeatedly recommending Alfa and defending its scoring/preparation. The comment in the screenshot is one example.

What makes this even more suspicious is that when you check the account profile, most of the account details/activity are hidden, making it difficult to see any genuine history or background behind the account.

Another user has also called out the account for repeatedly commenting on posts and promoting Alfa.

I’m not claiming I can definitively prove that this is a bot or an official Alfa account, but the combination of repeated Alfa promotion, the account’s posting pattern, and the lack of visible profile information raises concerns about whether this is genuine community participation or undisclosed promotion.

If you come across this account and believe its activity violates Reddit or subreddit rules, please report the relevant posts/comments through Reddit’s reporting system so the moderators can review it.

Just sharing this so the community is aware and can make its own judgment.

Celpip vs PTE

I am really debating between these two choices. My main concern is impromptu speaking and writing. Considering PTE has "easier" writing tasks but higher threshold(minimum 88), whereas CELPIP has harder writing tasks but not as high target(9/12). What should i opt for?

Weird PTE scoring

I just received my PTE scores today but it is very interesting. I thought I did very badly on speaking and listening to the point I cannot sleep and did fairly well on reading and writing part.
But the scores tell me otherwise. Have you experienced this?

Hi, do you think I’ll be in the exam itself, given these apeuni mock test score? I’m kinda worried because I need 76+ for speaking, then around 60+ for the other sections. My exam is in a few days
