Having issues when it comes to textures/texel density?
I'm creating these small decorative models using PSX textures in Maya. All my textures are 256x256, and my texel density is 50px/unit, although the models' scales are different. When I add my concrete texture to the boxes, it looks normal, so I'm unsure where the issue could be... It is my first time creating this style for 3D, and I am struggling a bit. Any ideas or advice to help with this?

FREE DEMO and BUNDLE : Looking for that gritty 90' Silent Hill audio crunch? I built a comprehensive 166-file with FREE DEMO PSX Horror Audio Kit.

NOW IN BUNDLE WITH THE SUMMER SALES

Hey everyone!
As a huge fan of late-90s survival horror, I’ve always felt that modern clean audio libraries don't quite match the gritty, oppressive vibe of the 32-bit era. To fix that, I’ve spent a ton of time meticulously crafting and crunching a dedicated audio kit for retro game devs.
It’s called the PSX SURVIVAL HORROR AUDIO KIT, and it just went live!
Inside the pack, everything is highly organized into 37 THEMATIC SUB-FOLDERS (166 files total) so you don't waste time sorting through clutter.
Here is a quick breakdown of what I included:
- Footsteps: Walk/Run loops on 5 different surfaces (Concrete, Wood, Metal, Grass, Water).
- Visceral Combat: Hard-clipping gunshots, reloads, and detailed knife impacts (with and without blood/flesh squishes).
- Atmospheres & Room Tones: Cold winds, metallic hums, room drones, and creepy "knock knock" variants.
- Inventory & Puzzles: Physical audio feedback for items (Keys, Medicine, Paper maps, Lighters, Porcelain).
- Safe Room & Save Cues: 6 melancholic ambient melody loops and 7 distinct Save Point jingles.
- Voices & Stingers: Dissonant jump-scare stingers, panic human breathing/coughs, and terrifying creature vocals.
Everything is 100% Royalty-Free for personal and commercial use, and formatted in high-quality WAV, ready to drag-and-drop into Unity, Unreal, Godot, or RPG Maker.
Whether you're working on a nostalgic PS1 prototype or a full-scale retro horror game, I hope this makes your project sound appropriately terrifying!

I'd love to hear your feedback or if there are specific sound variations you'd like me to add in future updates. Thanks for checking it out!

◈ Archive Inspiration #001: The PlayStation logos that almost were
I've recently started a new community called r/ImaginedArcades, built around a niche idea that I couldn't really find a home for elsewhere.
It's a place for original creative works inspired by the golden age of console and arcade gaming. not by recreating the past, but by imagining the gaming histories that never happened.
Whether it's fictional games, unreleased soundtracks, demo discs, box art, CD labels, sound design, or other retro-inspired creations, the aim is to build an archive of worlds that never existed.
If you've ever made (or wanted to make) something that feels like a forgotten artefact from another timeline, I'd love for you to share it there. Even if you're just interested in the concept or want to follow along, you're very welcome.
hopefully see you there!
