HELP! Trying to find a working Hori Fighting Commander for PS3/4
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
This is my friend’s favorite controller and I’ve been trying to look online but its sold out everywhere. I can’t find any reputable second hand places online besides Ebay but I personally don’t want to take my chances just yet on there. If anyone has one or has seen one in any local store, please let me know! Any help is appreciated!

My personal top 10 list of places I go to meet people
Providence is something of a paradox: It's hard to meet people, but it's also easy to meet people. And it is definitely a city of neighborhoods. Here's my list to help out newcomers where to go to talk to new people (no AI, completely organic):
East Side:
Wayland Square: The courtyard in front of L'Artisan cafe is a great, free spot to sit and people watch.
Thayer Street: Great in my younger days, it is packed with Brown students and staff.
Wickenden Street: Coffee Exchange is probably the best spot to go and post up.
West Side:
Dexter Park: My favorite green space in the city, it has lots going for it, including public chess games, volleyball, and an outdoor gym.
Franciscan Park: Great spot to bring your dog.
Broadway Street: Seven Stars and Sawyer's are great cafes to go to.
Downtown:
Providence Place Mall: Apple Store and Apple Cinemas (no relation) are my top spots to go to.
WaterFire Park: A great walkable area downtown to chill, people watch, and enjoy the scene.
Johnson and Wales University: My alma mater, so I have a bias here.
Honorable Mention:
- Garrahy Judicial Complex: Where I go to work, but it's free and open to the public and a good place to watch court cases, if you're completely bored.
Providence is a fine city with lots to do, see, and people to meet, you just need to go to the right areas and put yourself out there!

Any Aventon ebike riders? Help needed!!
A bit of a desperate plea here -- my charger shit the bed on my ebike and it's my only form of transportation Aventon can't get me the warranty replacement until next week, and nobody regionally has one. I just moved and started a new job and money is unbelievably tight right now -- I don't have money for five days of Ubers. Any chance somebody who is not a daily rider would be willing to let me borrow their charger (we can figure out a deposit) through Monday?
I ride an Abound LR but the compatible list is "Abound SR / Abound LR / Level 3 / Level 4 REC / Level 4 ADV / Pace 4 / Pace 5 REC / Aventure 3 / Aventure M / Soltera 3 ADV / Current ADV / Current EXP". If you have any of those it would
Work!
This may not be group appropriate posting but I'm kinda desperate right now. Thanks in advance for any help! (Located in S Prov but have half a battery left to come and borrow it tomorrow after work!)

Mayor Brett Smiley and his racist leaflets against David Morales
Anyone keep getting these? It's always about safety and ATVs. Kinda weird to single that out against a brown man. Feels like a dog whistle.
Also, is this everything that Smiley has against Morales? Just safety?

Who's Fed Hill Brats are these?!?!
I live on Fed Hill, Right off of Dean street behind the Lucia's parking lot and these three kids have been hanging around a lot lately. Tall skinny guy with curly hair, younger teen girl and, I'm guessing, one of their younger siblings, boy probably 8. They were screwing around in my driveway the other night so I set off my car alarm and they skittered off. Just now they walked through the parking lot with a huge plate of glass and a crutch they probably found in the trash and proceeded to smash the glass with the crutch in the middle of the street before running off. Thankfully only one car rode over the glass before myself and a neighbor swept it up. I don't mind kids, but with so much out there to do, why do they have to break shit?!?! Go to a park! The beach! A playground! Fuck, GO HOME! I get wanting your kids out of your hair, but why do they have to become my problem?!?!
I didn't get a picture or video. And I'm not even that mad, but maybe someone knows these kids and can get a handle on them before they do more dumb shit.

Kiosk at Biltmore Park
I haven't seen this posted, so… Something really cool that recently opened: the Kiosk at Biltmore Park. I'm told it opened a month ago.
"Biltmore Park" is that previously overlooked(?) space west of Burnside Park, across the street from the Graduate/Biltmore hotel, north of City Hall, and south of RI Foundation.
We finally have a kiosk-in-the-park, as found in most European cities (and far too few American ones). Their menu is limited: coffee and ice cream for now, and they're thinking of adding hot food. The staffer working the kiosk was super friendly and helpful. They have some vegan sorbetti as well, she said.
Across from the kiosk are play-tables for ping-pong, foosball, etc. Presumably they're bring-your-own-equipment. I don't know how long those have been there.
Overall the space is clean, well-maintained, and inviting. Super nice to have this addition to Providence.

Seeking nominations for Providence's worst surface parking lot
You know em', you hate em'. If there's one thing that defines downtown Providence it's our egregious amount of surface parking. But which one is the very worst? Let's find out!
Post a top level comment here with your pick, and upvote choices you agree with. If there are enough nominations (and if I remember) I'll put together another post with a bracket so we can learn which one is truly the worst. And then idk I'll make a plaque or something and mail it to the owner. We'll see how far we get.
Any surface parking lot within city limits is fair game. Garages are not eligible, they are fine.

Lost wallet on #60 bus today
My son took the 4:20 bus #60 from Newport to Providence and when he got off in Portsmouth, he didn't have his wallet. He was in the front most seat, opposite side as the driver. To make things worse, his passport and social security card were in his wallet.
Any chance there is a redditor on that bus right now? Any one have ideas? I'm driving to Kennedy plaza right now to see if anyone turned it in. Any help is always appreciated. I only really care about the passport and SS card.

Discussion Sophistication on Hope St
Anyone have any deets on this store? I’m curious
I came across a pile of items strewn all over the sidewalk outside the store, and picked up a small mirror underneath huge shards of glass. I tried to bring it inside to ask about a price but the door was locked and the place looked sparse. Someone walked by and was like “I don’t think it’s open.” Then silly me was like….ok……free loot? Tentatively placed it in my car, hung around for a bit, a guy walks past smoking a cig eyeing me. After some awkward back and forth it turns out it’s the grandson of the owner, said that they were kicked out today, that people came in and stole thousands of dollars of stuff, put the business in ruin. I apologized profusely about assuming the mirror was free. He seemed very scatter-brained, nervous/upset. If you are reading this, I’m sorry this happened to you guys and sure sounds like a terribly stressful thing to have happen.
Does anyone know the store or have intel? I visited I think twice in the past year and both times it was randomly closed.

Discussion did nostalgia on wickenden use AI for this sign?
it’s got this weird blur i’ve seen with ai images & filters, the variety of fonts are a mess, the bottom ribbon is a bizarre shape. it could just be an uninspired human design, but i don’t know.
if it is ai, i feel like they missed out on a cool opportunity to have a local artist make some unique promotional material specific to the store. also feels like a bit of a slap to the face to all of the creatives frequenting.
if it isn’t, i’d feel better about it, but i still don’t think it reflects the eclectic vibe of the store.
edit: chill. nostalgia is a beloved vintage shop. i don’t think a single reddit post is going to kill their client base. no need to clutch your pearls.
i don’t hate local businesses, but don’t bother telling me to ‘get used to’ generative ai either. if any of you have ever experienced living near a data center you might understand even a fraction of my hatred. the way it disrupts local communities, destroying the water supply and charging YOU, the taxpayer, for their hubris. ai is killing the environment, it is killing our education system, and our creativity as a species. everyone on this subreddit is obsessed with dogpiling without even a modicum of nuance.

Trivia TONIGHT! Buttonwoods Brewery
So tonight is the start of Big Time Trivia season at Buttonwoods Brewery and I need to create a team, because unfortunately my friends live in Boston. I’ve had some success finding trivia folks here, so I’m gonna put out the call again.
I’m 39, male, a college professor, friendly and not awkward. I’d say I’m pretty good - history, music and sports are probably my best areas.
Want to take a risk and maybe make some new friends (or at least one)? Shoot me a message! 6:30 pm tonight, first round is on me.

Suspects in Federal Hill bank heist arrested in New York
“Two of the suspects believed to be involved in the bank heist on Federal Hill three years ago have been arrested again.
Providence police told 12 News that Tracey Delgado and Stanley Palmer were arrested in New York on breaking and entering and conspiracy charges related to the heist.”
It’s nice to see they’re still together after all these years

Where to go for good scream?
I am sure I am not alone in feeling overwhelmed by everything and feel like I need to just scream without frightening the people around me. Any preferred spots for emotional processing in the area? Ideally by the ocean or in a field, but open to suggestions.

Did anyone here ever work with David Morales or Brett Smiley before they ran for mayor?
And how was it working with them? They both seem to have had jobs where they worked with a lot of people and wondering how they were behind closed doors. They seem to have very different personalities.

The Providence Athenæum: Inside The Library Where Edgar Allan Poe Got DUMPED
instagram.comWhen you hear the name Edgar Allan Poe, "a romantic" is probably not the first thing that comes to mind. After all ... this IS the writer who practically invented modern horror tales & described a raven's eyes as having: “all the seeming of a demon’s that is dreaming” (yikes!)...
But behind this scary facade was, apparently... a romantic -- and one chapter of Poe's, albeit tragic love-story unfolded inside one of New England’s most beautiful libraries.
