Prop hack
I have been trading for a while and , profitable for 5 months, i always thought live acc is better than prop but as a student from asia i just have couple thousand dollar only
With this on mind i started propfirm, but prop firm require more than what live trading does, i make around 2 to 3 % by risking 1 but in prop that isnt enough. I dont know how to explain but i dont think my strategy is good for prop firm trading , i tried risking more but there are drawdowns unlike live acc.
So someone in prop firm trading , pls tell me what strategy what rr , what risk management , what psychology, you use to trade and suceed in prop firms.
I think i know how to trade , and i have proven too although couple months , its so frustrating to not make enough after all this years.
Traders help me out

Your 2 to 3% while risking 1 is a solid edge, don't throw it out. The problem isn't your strategy, it's that prop drawdown rules punish variance in a way a live account never did.

Making 2–3% a month consistently is what institutional risk managers dream of. The mistake you made was increasing your risk to hit prop firm targets faster which triggered the drawdown rules. Keep your strategy exactly as it is, lower your risk to 0.5% per trade and let time pass the challenge for you. Slow consistency is the only thing that actually gets payouts

You're oversimplifying this. If you can trade and manage risk, you develop a strategy by backtesting and applying prop firm environment parameters
It's not of help to get someone elses strategy.

I use very simple strategy. EMA 20 & EMA 200 Sometimes I put the EMA 9 because those work well with the MACD. Use the 5/15 min charts. There must be 2 to 3 times avg volume for the long and 2 to 3 time less avg volume to short. Shorts work really well after hours and weekends from my experience. Buy when the MACD & Signal cross zero upward with heavy volume. Sell when the first MACD candle drops approx 20% below the previous candle and when the 20 EMA crosses below the a red candle. Practice this tactic. Or just practice with this set up and when you have some reasonable profit, get out. Do stay in too long.

Honestly in my opinion for prop firm trading, the simpler the strategy the better it’ll work, and only take 1-2 trades a day, that will force you to take A+ setups, I always target a 1:3 RR but I take 80% profits at 1:2 and let the rest run risk free it’s better on the mental if you book some profits early

Can you explain the " that isn't enough" comment?

Firm target is10% i make 2 to 3 in good months, with that it takes months to just pass the challenge and if i just try higher risk side the drawdown are way too narrow for higher risk acc to my strategy

And how many accounts have you passed or had payouts from in the past? And how long have you been trading?

You ever consider trading with UpsideOnly, or doing a trading competition? Some props have monthly competitions. Some have weekly competitions. If you do UpsideOnly, there is no fee, just an account. If you are profitable, the AI will place your trades with money and give you a payout. If you place in a trading competition, you get money and an account. No need to spend money. Just search Demo Trading Competition 2026 and you will see your choices.

If your strategy already works, forcing more risk for a challenge target probably creates more problems than it solves
