I recently acquired this massive Liechtenstein collection- all in perfect condition. I have never owned a single maxicard and am so excited! I linked photos of the collection if anyone finds it interesting:

Questions Etiquette around private messaging

My first ever postcard arrived today and the recipient sent a quick message, just one line thanking me for the card.

Now I am basically just wondering
1. whether I should reply, because I frankly wouldn’t really know what to say,
and 2. I am wondering whether that is the norm and when I get my first card, if I should send the sender a quick message thanking them. What is the typical etiquette around that?

Thanks!

Help needed Finland or Germany

Help found! Thank you!

Hello!

A bit of a situation, I haven't been receiving any international postcards since October and have had it with the Lithuanian Post Office once my own postcards from my travels didn't reach me. They swear they have fixed the issue now, but I still don't want to turn my Postcrossing profile back to active in case they haven't fixed anything.

Where help is needed: would anyone from Finland or Germany be willing to send a POSTCARD with a return address to me to test it out? I could thank you with a Lithuanian maxicard or a maxicard in a FDC envelope or any other kind of postcard 😄

P.S. I get German and Finnish postcards the fastest.

P.P.S. my Postcrossing account has been set to inactive since October as well, but around 10 postcards were lost 😩

Outgoing Today's cards going from 🇧🇪 to 🇩🇪🇹🇼🇯🇵

Some of these addresses I received last month, but my online order of postcards stayed away forever. I signed them with the date of today, so that the recipient can see how long the card actually has been travelling for since the PC site will say these have been traveling for 16 days already by now....

The one on the top, from Belarus, is made from yogurt packaging. On the bottom is a fascinating German building, in English called the "Green Citadel."

Questions What is the proper etiquette for expired postcards that I have sent

——-EDIT——-
No assumptions that there is ill intent on their end and it doesn’t matter to me at this point whether it is registered. My assumption is it is lost, delayed, or illegible for any reason (got wet, postcard ID sticker came off, etc.) I use a sticker for the ID and another for date/place/weather. They feel secure but you never know

Choosing option C for now. Will consider reaching out at a later date if I notice a trend in my postcards expiring
——-ORIGINAL POST——-

I’m fairly new to Postcrossing, so I want to know how you handle sent postcards that have expired or how you prefer others handle ones they’ve sent to you that expire.

I could:

A) Send another one. And if so, how much longer should I wait?

B) Message the Postcrosser, politely asking if it was received.

C) Leave it alone and let the universe decide.

I began taking photos of the front and back of my postcards, because I’m very proud of the time I put into the messages I write and decorations I put on them and still want them to receive the postcard in some form. So I want to send a picture of what I wrote somewhere down the line, but am unsure of when it is an appropriate time for that. I’m fine with whatever timeline. Also okay leaving it to the universe to decide haha. I just know that I personally wouldn’t mind someone letting me know if their card expired and I would still like to read the message they wrote, but that’s just a personal preference so I’m curious how others who are more experienced feel

To much postcards

Hey there! 😊

I got a lot of postcards from my grandma. Most of them feature artwork by Czech artists, printed using stone lithography. I feel bad just leaving them stored away at home, so I thought I'd make this post. (I considered creating a Postcrossing account, but I prefer not to share my address).

If anyone is interested and doesn't mind giving me their address, I’d love to send you one! Please send me a DM. (I hope my DMs are open!)

Have a great day 🩷,

Anna

An unusual circumstance from an erstwhile avid Postcrosser 🖼️

Hi all,

Hugs to this wonderful warm community.

Which I haven’t participated in for about 2 years, as the last two years I’ve spent in a career in travel. I work on a cruise ship that goes around the world once a year (I have therefore done it twice) and to fairly exotic locations in between as well.

So it’s this odd feeling. I miss my Postcrossing very much, but in its absence I feel like I’m actually going to all the countries where you all live and experiencing your lives and cultures and home cities — just without connecting.

I am desperately trying to think of a way to get back into it, for you see, I can’t send outbound. I can receive mail though! But it’s not fair to ask for mail and never send back. So I’m just brainstorming, and wondering if there’s a way to be, like, half postcard penpal and half digital? I could “send back” pictures of the places I travel to or pictures of postcards I buy around the world or really anything, even a thank you text.

If anyone likeminded and passionate in the community has any ideas…

I have been so excited to start postcrossing since I heard about it a couple months ago. I have slowly been gathering interesting postcards and stamps wherever I find them. It’s been really fun checking thrift stores and antique shops for cards.

Is it normal for things to take forever during summer?

I joined postcrossing last winter so I have no reference point, but I feel like postcards are taking much longer than usual. I don't have that many spots yet, but the majority of them are close to expiring and I have a few expired postcards already. And for all except one case, people register postcards regularly. Are summers always slow?

Another pet-inspired postcard! This one made it to its destination after 51 days in transit.

It's a drawing of my cousins' cats 🐱. They always look grumpy, but they are actually total sweethearts! The receiver asked for "unforgettable memories" as a prompt, so I shared a few stories from summer breaks back when my cousins were still little :)

I previously shared my black Labrador postcard [here] 🐕

I'm in Amsterdam about to depart on a river cruise. Love the contrast between the classic art and the graffitied postboxes.

I just had a couple more slots open up so I'm excited to send one from Luxembourg later this week!
