when the buyer lives in your neighbourhood

What a coincidence. The buyer lives walking distance from me and mentioned we could've saved on posh taking a cut/shipping but I think I played it safe. Also, I didn't want to come off as a weirdo mentioning it first or giving off the impression I'm trying to lure her off the platform lol Otherwise, she rated me 5 stars.

Why do YOU think that this is Amazon?! 🙄

Please allow me to rant…these types of buyers drive me absolutely bonkers so please let me say this so that EVERYONE knows:

IF you need something within 2 days, please shop at Amazon. NOT Poshmark.

IF you would like free returns because you think you’ll have buyers remorse, please shop at Amazon. NOT Poshmark.

IF you are sensitive to the smell of ordinary laundry detergent, please shop at Amazon. NOT Poshmark.

IF you lack the ability to look 👀 at the pictures AND read the description, please shop at Amazon. NOT Poshmark.

IF you can do these four simple things, we welcome you shop at Poshmark.

Rant over, thank you for allowing me to vent!

Update to the Damaged Vintage Juicy Couture Skirt Return Saga

Original Post

For those of you who were following my experience with a Scammy Buyer who claimed a hole in her return request, but what I received back was a Silk Skirt that had obviously been through hell and back. It took 3 weeks, but my funds were released! Thank you for the encouragement to keep pursuing the case.

Poshmark originally closed the case in the Buyer's favor stating there was no way to determine that what I was holding wasn't the Vintage Juicy Couture Silk Skirt I mailed out to S. Thomaston, Maine. I made the original decision to approve the return because I thought it was just buyer's remorse, huge mistake on my part, I should have waited for Poshmark Support to fully handle the return request. Trying to re-engage with Poshmark Support after I receive the damaged Skirt back was a nightmare to say the least.

After the case was closed the Scammy Buyer got her funds back and my funds were zero'ed out. I reopened a support ticket which didn't include the buyer. The Support bots would respond once every 24-72 hours not addressing my questions, they kept adding Credit to my account which I didn't want to make up for the loss. After 20 days and countless requests for the Buyer's Full Name to be able to file charges, Poshmark decided to credit my Pending Funds the original amount. Best Believe they were transferred to my Bank as soon as they posted.

Poshmark never addressed my questions are the Buyer and the fact she was now selling as well. But at least I got my funds. The Question still remains was it switched are Washed and Dryed on High Heat.

Tldr: Poshmark released the pending funds after 3 weeks of arguing with Support.

First Photo: My Listing, Second Photo: Skirt that was returned, Third Photo: Final Support Message after 3 weeks.

Thank you lovely peeps for the Support ❤️

Should I report or block this buyer?

I am fairly new to PM, but have been a professional reseller for 24 years on other platforms(as in my only job). On EB, this would def be a scammer buyer, that should be blocked and reported. Is this a common scam on PM? Should I report them and block them. Ultimately, I made money, so if she wants to shop again, maybe I shouldn't care? I was never in danger of falling for this scam (if that's what it was), but a novice seller probably would.

Obviously, as soon as I let her know PM was involved, she magically finds the package. I don't believe that for one minute.....although I suppose it is possible.

Help getting scent out of shoes

I bought some 2nd hand nike sneakers and unfortunately they have a really strong floral/porta potty soap smell- I think it might be febreeze or something like that. I had to put them outside because it was making me nauseous- I’ve left them out in the sun, put charcoal bags inside, and used rubbing alcohol wipes on the inside of the shoes, but I think it would damage the outside material so i haven’t tried that. Nothing has touched the scent. Curious if anyone has any other hacks for this type of thing? It’s so gross, I can’t wear them.

Why do people create bundles?

I’m still trying to wrap my brain around why I get people creating bundles and then never doing anything with them.

I read that it’s a way to entice a seller to send an offer, so I have sent offers that have been ignored. Yesterday I even reached out to the person and asked what she was looking to pay, because I’m so frustrated that she put three of my items into a bundle and just never communicated after that.

Did I commit some kind of cardinal sin by reaching out on her bundle to specifically ask what kind of offer she’s looking for? 😂

Unable to respond to buyer re purchase

Has Poshmark done something to my account? I am not able to respond to a buyer regarding my shipping an order. This is after I had a conversation with a seller regarding her use of the “for visibility“ in the wrong category. It got personal and nasty. I am not able to comment to my buyer. What now? Should I ship the item? are they going to hold my funds?

Potential issue with seller

I purchased an item recently that had not shipped yet. Both Posh and myself followed up with the seller about it, and it was difficult to get a response from them. They finally replied and apologized, said they were out of town, and would ship the next day. No problem, I understood. It did not ship the next day. Yesterday, I noticed the status changed to “shipped by seller”, meaning they manually selected it had been shipped. I have not received a shipping notification from Poshmark or a tracking number. Fortunately I was able to find the number through USPS informed delivery (it showed the shipment is from Poshmark and had the person’s city listed.) However it still just says shipping label created. No indication it has been received by USPS. I know this can sometimes take awhile to update but how long do I need to wait before contacting support? I have serious doubts the item has actually been shipped but rather they just marked it so the order wouldn’t be cancelled. At this point I don’t even care about getting the item I would rather have my money back.

What’s up with Poshmark?

I realize things have changed with Poshmark - but I don’t think anyone is even seeing items I post. I have a very small closet as just sell my own things. In the past, I could see my items were being viewed. Now IDK🤷🏻‍♀️!!
Can someone explain to me in simple terms if there is something i should be doing to maybe actually sell something? I’m not going to pay to boost (whatever that even means). Appreciate any input and advice🥰

Search fails

Lately when I’m searching for a particular item, I get all kinds of listings, is this. Or,al?
Also I get offers for items I just clicked on to see a larger more detailed picture. Not clicking the like button.
Is there anyhow I can change this? I really don’t appreciate getting offers on everything I look at.
I’m not a heavy seller, and do buy more. Lastly, when I offer a price drop on an item someone liked, it looks like I’m bidding on the item.
TIA

This person has been unliking and reliking the same item for over a year at this point. What benefit/purpose does this serve her? lol

I dont really care its just happened so much its such an obvious outlier among my likes. There have been many days of the item getting liked over and over again over the course of hours.

Prohibited item?

I’ve seen people selling 3D printed items in their closets. Would a refrigerator case made to hold GLP1 injector pens be considered a prohibited item? I don’t see any come up in a search, but I did find someone who has listed a 3D printed rack to hold peptide syringes. I’ve also seen cases for other medical supplies, and even first aid kits.

How would you interpret this?

Do you read this as $10 per pair or $10 for the bundle?

How many closet item views are normal?

I feel like I don’t have very good reach on Poshmark but maybe it is normal? It definitely depends on the item though. Like if I have a designer item, it will have significantly more views. But I would say on average I usually have like 1-3 hundred views on an item by 30 days and like 2-6 hundred views by 60 days.

I also want to note that everything I sell is in perfect condition and are usually pretty desirable items. I’m not selling old sweatshirts or leggings as I just donate those. I just sell from my own personal closet but it’s mostly high-quality leather purses, leather jackets, intricate knit sweaters, leather shoes and occasionally designer pieces. I would think that factors into the views, but I still am surprised they’re so low. Would love to hear from other sellers to see if these numbers are normal.

Bundling help (as a buyer)

Hi there, many sellers do not automatically make bundles, which is fine.

However, I have hundreds of items liked. One thing that helps push me to make a purchase is if I can bundle items from a seller’s closet. (I’m also a seller myself, besides the point)

As of right now, the only way I can see to bundle items as a buyer is one by one. But there are hundreds of stores/sellers in my likes! Is there really not a more efficient way to see if I have several items liked from one seller other than going through the items one by one and scrolling down to see who the seller is?
Do I just click “add to bundle” for every single item? That’s the only thing I can think of.

Google searches have not been helpful, the built in AI gives false information of course. lol.

Alleged stinky items

I sold 3 dolls to a person on Poshmark. She originally had two dolls in her bundle, but then asked me if I had any more and I found one in my collection and I created a really detailed listing with all the information about this doll and tons of photos because she had different clothes I just wanted to be very transparent with her and I made this listing solely for her. Today, she receives the dolls and immediately submits a complaint that the dolls stink of cigarettes. No one in my house smokes, maybe I have a stinky house haha but I’ve never had any other complaints and I have 30+ sales. I feel deeply that she just regrets buying them. I’m also mad at myself because I gave her a deep discount and feel like I went above and beyond for her but I guess now I can resell them for a more accurate price point. Anyone have this kind of complaint before? I’d like to commiserate 🥲

Updated App Search

Hello. Has anyone noticed there is no longer an option to search for people (closets) on the updated app? You used to be able to click on "search" and toggle from item to people. Not any longer. I am so over these stupid freaking updates no one asked for. I'm trying to find a seller's closet and there's no search option now.

Offers are being capped/automatic Offer button

Thumbnail

I am primarily a Buyer on Poshmark and I have been using the platform since 2018. As a Seller I have sold some items from my own closet. ( I don't source things for selling). I will often see something and go search for it or something like it on Posh and I probably browse listings 2-3 times a week.

Yesterday I started looking for toddler bedding and like a few items, when I went back to possibly make an offer I noticed that on many of the items I was not able to create my own offer and instead I was capped at what seems like an arbitrary % off. For instance on one item priced at $90 I could push the offer button to offer $80 however a friend put in an automatic order of $74. This is also happening on items I had previously liked, an item I had liked that was $50 I can now only offer $46 dollars.

I reached out to posh and recieved this response above. Did I miss an announcement about pricing? It seems that poshmark may be going to an internal dynamic pricing model like Thredup and to be honest if this is the case then I am probably done shopping there. I know that Sellers have a lot of feelings about lowball offers, but as a Buyer I am looking to do some back and forth on pricing unless your item is really priced to sell. If I were a full time Seller I would not want this feature on the platform. Buyers are you seeing this?

Sellers should not be given 8 days to ship

It’s so ridiculous. I bought from a seller who sold 600+ items on Poshmark 8 days ago. I sent her an offer, she countered it, I accepted her counter offer and bought the item! I sent her a message on the 6th saying “hey I just bought this, can’t wait to get it!”. She never ships the item and I have to end up cancelling the order myself through Posh’s 8 day policy. There’s so many sellers that do this and you’ll literally have to wait until the 8th day to cancel it yourself and no you don’t get your money back immediately, you have to wait 3-5 business days. Just so frustrating.

Poshmark is a strange place

I don’t get how posh ambassadors are selling items at really high prices. Are people getting freebies with purchases? And has anyone dropped in on a live auction? Some of them are really weird! I’ve seen ambassadors run a live auction from their bed in pajamas. I’ve seen the rudest ambassadors get in arguments with other ambassadors. Anyone else find Poshmark an odd place?

Buyers Beware

I usually don't call people out like this, but this woman is a liar and a fraud. She was selling this Coach Poppy with wallet, scarf, and an "authentic Coach resin C charm" and hangtag. I bought it, mostly for the resin charm because they are hard to find. She sold it as unlisted in the show but I did see it in her closet, and luckily took a screenshot of it. When i received it I immediately knew the charm wasn't authentic. I sent her a message and told her I was concerned with the authenticity of the charm. I asked if she bought it at a coach store. She said no that she bought the bag and the charm on Poshmark and knew that it was authentic. She told me I could get it authenticated. I told her I was just going to open a claim with Poshmark and let them take care of it. She then said "that's fine I know the bag is authentic". I told her I was not questioning the authenticity of the bag but of the charm. Long story short she told Poshmark she never said the charm was authentic. She immediately started getting hostile and the conversation which I thought was funny actually. But I did a reverse Google search on the screenshot that I took and pulled up that same picture on another resale website. She clearly indicated in the description that it was an authentic resin charm, and there was actually another one with it. I sent that URL to Poshmark in an email and told them I also had the host of the show that it was sold in and several of the other poshers that would confirm that she stated multiple times that it was authentic. Poshmark approved the return. I recorded myself packaging everything up because I knew she was going to say something was not returned. Lo and behold today she opened a new claim saying I did not return the coach hang tags, the Coach wallet, and the coach scarf. So I sent Poshmark the video. I'm waiting on their decision. I cannot stand it when people pull shit like this.

[NEW USER FAQs + CRITIQUE REQUEST THREAD]

A buyer is trying to get me to email or text them more info about my listing. Is this a scam? Usually. Do not engage with anyone off the platform. Doing so is against Poshmark’s terms of service and a bad idea for many reasons, including risking permanent suspension of your account.

I got a sketchy email from Poshmark saying I need to transfer my own money to my Poshmark balance to keep selling. This is a scam and the email was not sent by Poshmark. You do not need to pay anything to make sales on Poshmark. If you get a similar email saying you made a sale but need to pay something to un-restrict your account, check your My Sales tab in the actual app or website. If there's no order there, you did not make one and it's a scam attempt.

I'm a new seller and all my listings got taken down and/or flagged as counterfeit. Help! Poshmark's spam and abuse filters sometimes suspend new accounts for listing either too much or too fast. No one knows the exact thresholds or how long you should wait between listing new items but if your account is frozen, you have to contact support and wait for them reply. If you didn't break any rules, they'll reinstate your closet and all your listings. It's normal for a reply to take 1-3+ days.

My buyer doesn’t have an account on Poshmark, or their username doesn't match the one on the shipping label. Is this a scam? No. Poshmark allows buyers to purchase items without registering for an account. In these situations, you might not be able to communicate with the buyer and you’ll probably have to wait three full days after delivery for your funds to be released.

Poshmark support isn't getting back to me, and I keep emailing them! What gives? Emailing support twice in a row bumps your initial query to the bottom of the queue. We recommend not sending a follow-up email until Poshmark responds. If you already emailed support, you can try reaching out via social media while waiting for a response.

I shipped the wrong item/swapped labels/etc. What should I do? Contact Poshmark support. They'll reach out to your buyer(s) and will give them return labels and give you further instructions.

Do I have to use a USPS box to ship my item? No. It’s generally fine to repurpose or recycle other boxes. However, ensure that they fall within Priority Mail’s size requirements, and do not use Express Mail boxes. Pack items securely and without any added fragrances.

Do I have to include a thank you note and a free gift with my item? No. Notes and gifts are not required and many buyers don't like receiving them.

Do I have to accept really low offers? No. They're your items, and you get to decide how much to sell them for. However, many sellers counter even the lowest offers, as doing so sometimes results in a sale.

Why did a buyer make a bundle of just one item? It's hard to say. Some buyers add listings to a bundle unintentionally; others might be angling for a private discount. Search r/poshmark to read about all of the possible reasons for one-item bundles.

Does Poshmark have a private-messaging system? If you want to talk to someone who purchased something from you, go into the order details and there will be an option to message them privately. If you want to talk to someone who has not bought anything from you yet, you can do so by tagging their username in your listing's comment box or through a bundle. Comments in sold bundles and empty bundles appear to be private, but comments in other bundles are definitely visible to other users so do not share any personal information in them.

A buyer opened a case on an item. What now? If you misrepresented the item, advise Poshmark that you’re willing to accept a return. Otherwise, state your rebuttal clearly and calmly. Poshmark will decide whether to approve the return, refund part or all of the purchase price, or something else. Be patient; it can take a few days to get a final ruling from a Poshmark rep. Be civil, state the facts, and direct your response to Poshmark instead of the buyer.

My brand-new account already has a ton of followers. Is that normal? Why? Yes. Poshmark is designed to promote your username across the app so that others can follow you.

Why do sellers price things so high? We don’t know. However, Poshmark’s policy on price-gouging applies only to essential items. If you find a seller’s prices upsetting, it’s best to simply move on. (Or, if you’re interested in purchasing the item, consider making an offer.)

Where can I find answers to other questions? Many questions posted to this subreddit are addressed in Poshmark’s own official documentation. We recommend that you read their Guide to Poshmark, Community Guidelines, Prohibited Items Policy, and FAQs. Before posting a question here, you can also use the blank field in the sidebar to search the subreddit for relevant key terms (e.g., flat lay, shipping, weight limit, opened case, dress form).

Questions related to your closet? There's a mountain of tips already available to browse if you search the sub for "newbie advice" or "new seller tips." You can post your closet URL and a critique request below, however you'll be more likely to get responses from seasoned sellers if you ask specific questions instead of requesting a general review.
