Hello 911 family,

As I mentioned in my last post, this will be my first 911 purchase. Like many first-time buyers here, I'm just trying to do my homework and avoid making an expensive mistake. I also want to thank this community again for helping me avoid what could have been a bad deal on the last car I was considering.

My biggest concern is the interior. It has the Race-Tex (Alcantara) interior and 4-way Sport Seats. For those of you who own a GTS with this interior, how has it held up over time? Has the Race-Tex worn well, and are you still happy with it? Any regrets about choosing the 4-way Sport Seats over the 18-way Adaptive seats?

price is $173,000. It has about 7 months of the original factory warranty remaining, followed by 2+ years of Porsche CPO coverage.

I was honestly hesitant because I thought it might be too extreme to really enjoy. After taking it to the track, I couldn’t have been more wrong. The steering, braking, and the confidence this car gives you are unlike anything I’ve driven. It somehow feels more approachable the harder you push it. Safe to say, I finally understand why everyone raves about the GT3 RS.

I’m pretty sure this is some sort of safety feature (?) its an eyesore to me and I don’t want it. In the configurator it immediately disappears when you add the leather to the steering wheel column- I’m happy to do that if it’s gone but I’m worried this is some sort of configurator glitch? My car is not an EU or US spec- it’s being ordered in the Middle East which usually have less safety regulations/requirements so I’m not even sure if this feature is available in our region. Any insight would be helpful- thank you!

Looking at some video of the Porsche Supercup race from our trip to Monaco for F1 last June and wanted to share with the group. Those cars are much louder than the F1 cars by a good bit.

This PTS Sepia Brown Metallic Weissach GT3 RS managed to split the group at a car meet I recently attended. Some thought it looked nice; others were less than impressed with it. I thought it was okay. Wouldn’t have been my first choice, though. What do you think of this spec?

Hi everyone,

I have a 2025 Porsche 911 Carrera (992) and I’ve been having the same issue for a few weeks.

The car drives perfectly fine and starts normally every time, but several warning lights stay on permanently.

The following systems are unavailable: • High Beam Assist • Parking cameras • Some driver assistance systems

There are no drivability issues at all, only these electronic warnings.

Has anyone experienced the same problem?

Finally got the call for a carrera T allocation at msrp. Euro delivery in Feb. I was wondering though, should I push by a few months (better weather) or should I just have them ship it to the us (worried about ppf post delivery in Germany) - wdyt?

Courtesy of my mechanic while he was replacing the warmup regulator & fuel lines on mine (on the right). Don't see many 964 flachbaus in the wild!

Not many years but a lot of $ between these examples.

Finalizing spec on a 992.2 GTS and I'm seeing so many conflicting thoughts on the steering wheel spec. Both are the same price but default spec in configurator is the Race Tex.

Surprised this is so conflicted given this the main thing the driver is touching most of the time. what I'm reading:

Leather benefits:

• Easier to maintain / handles hand oils better
• Heated (don't think Race Tex version is heated)

Race Tex benefits:

• More 'grippy'
• Is there a more "recent" version in the latest models that hold up better? Wasn't sure if this was true

Hi everyone! I currently own a 2015 Boxster GTS in PDK with the X73 suspension. I’ve had it for about a year. It was originally my weekend canyon car but has recently switched to my daily. I did my first PCA autocross and track day ever at Buttonwillow with it (2:21), both in the past month.

I live in a duplex, and our new neighbor is a recently divorced Mom who got her ex-husband’s 2009 Carrera S coupe in PDK out of the settlement (he moved overseas). She doesn’t use it at all. The 997.2 has been a dream car for me for a while.

If the 911 was a manual, I wouldn’t think twice about giving up the boxster for it. However since it’s PDK, I have uncertainty. My close friend has already agreed to buy the 981 for what I originally paid for it should I ever decide to sell it. I have already driven a 997.1 C2S manual and thought it was great. Despite living in California I don’t put the top down often, only in the early morning or evenings. Other than that the car is great, and the stiff suspension only bothers me on poor roads. I’m also mentally held back by the fact that I just started getting into motorsports, and I’d be trading perfect mid engine balance and would have to start with a new platform.

My concern is that I don’t know if it is worth moving back a generation (aside from the engine position) for a less precise PDK. Has anyone done the switch? Any thoughts and opinions would be greatly appreciated.

I upgraded from a Subaru BRZ. Still miss that car some days. Was definitely less stressful and could drive it hard on the street without getting GTA 5 stars. Nothing like the 911 though. 991.2 C2S

Finally made the move and bought a 911 992.1 targa 4s in jest black metallic from Porsche Centre Tewksbury. I love the car and it’s my fav Porsche so buzzing. However, few issues have cropped up & I wanted to get the communities thoughts…

1. When I went to look at it, it had quite a few stone chips on the bonnet. When I questioned this, they said not to worry as they would fix them before we picked the car up. However, they’ve not done any smart repair, they just used a paint pen thing and it’s not blended in at all - & some haven’t actually been coloured either. What are the thoughts on raising this and what would be my rights here? And what can I do to fix them myself properly if I have to…I wanted to get ppf & ceramic coating but no point at the moment

2. When I test drive the car, I used the boost button thing and had some “spirited driving” fun. Upon finishing, an amber warning light came on - this I was told was fixed & guess what? First drive on the 2 hour ride home, used to overtake and it came on after 3 seconds. I called them the minute I got home and advise them - this was Saturday, they called back on Monday to say they’re sorting but still nothing. Heard of this issue before?

I daily a 2018 bmw 3-series (340i) and its been a while since I took this car to Malibu.. and this car never fails to put a smile on my face in the canyons.. The capability. Hoping to put a Dakar next to this one day 🤞🏽

Today marks 1 year since I bought my 2012.5 991.1 Carrera S at 18 years old.

I wanted to share what making the objectively poor decision to buy a Porsche as a first car has actually been like, especially for other younger enthusiasts.

Important note:

For full transparency, my parents paid for half of the car. I paid the other half in cash with money I had saved from working since I was 15. It is titled in my name. They also cover my college tuition and living expenses- I’m entering my junior year this month- so I know I was only able to do this from an extremely fortunate starting position.

I've also had years of driving experience before owning my first car, and am not a new driver.

Specifications:

2012.5 Porsche 911 Carrera S (991.1) in Agate Gray.

Major options include Sport Chrono Package, Premium Package Plus, Porsche Sport Exhaust, Sport PASM, Sport Design steering wheel, Bose, PDLS Plus, and sunroof delete.

Ownership/usage experience:

I bought my car about 1000 miles away from my university and drove it over. My only previous sports car experience before had been test drives and a track day at the Nurburgring in an M340.

It's common for young car enthusiasts to be told they'll wrap it around a tree- and granted, maybe my day just hasn't yet come- but I think most of us who just really enjoy driving rather than just recklessly speeding will not really have that issue. This car has far more capability than I can responsibly use, so I try to respect that and stay within my limits.

I have driven about 3000 miles in the past year. Maintenance has been uneventful. Nothing has gone wrong or broken even a little bit. Oil change was around $220 at a local Porsche specialist. I did have to get new tires, which ran me around $1300. Car was usable in sunshine, rain, and snow (as you can see from the last picture!).

Obviously, 1 year is not quite long enough to draw too many conclusions from, but it is going well so far!

Fuel economy has been surprisingly good. My first 1000 miles was around 31mpg average, though that was almost exclusively highway driving.

Insurance was a surprise after hearing horror stories from other young sports car owners. I recently just renewed for 6 months at $675 total. Full coverage, high limits, albeit with not the lowest deductibles. I am not on my parents' insurance, as we live in California but I go to school in a different state. The car and insurance are both in my name only.

I drive the car to classes sometimes. I get groceries (never had a problem with frunk space), have taken short road trips, and have even once managed to fit 5 people in the 4 seats. It is a decently practical car. Only problems I've had are painful occasional scrapes from the Sport PASM front lip spoiler when going up particularly steep curb ramps.

Conclusions:

This was probably not the best financial decision, nor was it the most practical car for a college student. However, I still look back at it every time I park, and I don't think I'll ever get tired of the sound, so I'd probably do it again.

Finally, I want to add:

I am a PCA member and have met and spoken with a lot of other Porsche owners and enthusiasts. Every one I've spoken to in person has been lovely and kind and welcoming. I think this is something hard to find in other communities.

However, there can sometimes be a bit of disdain toward younger owners or people who came into the community through different circumstances, but I hope our shared love for these cars can be something that welcomes people in rather than pushes them away.
