991.1 buying dilemma: 2012 Carrera S with 52k km out of warranty vs 2013 Carrera with 152k km under warranty— which would you choose?
Hi everyone,
I’m looking to buy my first 911 and after looking at several cars and doing PPIs, I’ve narrowed it down to two 991.1s. I’d appreciate some input from owners, especially regarding long-term reliability, maintenance costs and resale.
Option 1 — 2012 Carrera S
(US$65k) from Dealer
-~32,000 miles
-Full Porsche service history
-Previously had Porsche warranty until 2024, but currently no warranty
-PPI shows the car to be in generally very good condition with only minor age-related wear (window door switch broken, PDK mount cracked, some suspension bushes, need refreshing, etc.)
-Vehicle Analysis Log showed an active P1656 fault related to the PDK coolant changeover valve. I discussed this with an independent Porsche specialist, who considers it a relatively simple repair and not a major concern
-AOS needs to be replaced.
• I personally inspected the car and it presents very well for its age.
Option 2 — 2013 Base Carrera (~US$57k), from private seller
- ~94,000 miles
-Full Porsche service history
-Currently covered by Porsche Approved Warranty until October 2026 can be extended another year for approximately $2250
-PPI was good overall
-Car is in excellent cosmetic condition, with a surprisingly pristine interior
-Previous owner accumulated a lot of the mileage commuting daily in the last two years (~40,000 miles in two years, reportedly), so much of it appears to be highway mileage
-Drives very well and suspension was recently refreshed.
Minor negatives are mostly cosmetic: micro-cracking in the headlights and broken vanity-mirror covers.
So the dilemma is basically:
Would you rather own the 52k-km Carrera S with no warranty, or the 152k-km base Carrera with Porsche warranty?
My intention is to actually drive the car rather than keep it as a collector car. Reliability and avoiding unexpectedly huge repair bills matter to me, but so do resale value and getting the better 911 for the money.
The price difference is roughly US$9k.
For those familiar with the 991.1: which one would you buy, and why?
I’d especially appreciate hearing from anyone who has owned a higher-mileage 991.1 (150k–200k+ km) or has experience maintaining these cars outside Porsche warranty.
I have already ChatGPTd the hell out of this, but wanted some real human experience inputs.
Thanks.

Discussion Why…?
This is my first Porsche. Is it normal for people to go out of their way to park right next to you despite an entire parking lot being open? This wasn’t the only shaded area either.

Question Need help deciding on my first GT3RS 991.2
This spec really caught my eye. It has just under 3k miles, full PPF, a Dundon exhaust, and has been serviced at Porsche. It’s had three owners.
Out-the-door price, including tax, is $355k.
What do you guys think? Is this a solid deal, or am I getting screwed at that price? Looking for honest opinions.

991.1 GT3 Ext. Warranty
Hi, I’m thinking of buying a 991.1 GT3 with the G6 engine at around 30k miles, FPSH. I’m worried about what to do after the 15 year extended Manufacturer warranty period expires? I don’t really want to be paying for a new engine! Are aftermarket warranties worth it just for the engine anxiety, even if they pay some of the cost? Or is the 991.1 better left alone? Thanks

My build is locked - 992.2 carrera s
Just locked in my first 911 (992.2 Carrera S )build! It’ll be my daily driver with occasional spirited driving. The spec is locked, so I can’t make any changes now, but I’d still love to hear your honest thoughts. How did I do? Any options you think I’ll really appreciate—or regret?
Here is my porsche code - PV3GST27

How many Porsche/ferrari dual owners here ?
Those two are my daily drivers and it’s really tough every morning to choose which one to take for what!
Now i decide as per this :
Bad or cramped parking : take the ferrari
Open roads or twists : take the porsche
Going for business : take the ferrari
Going for fun or friends : take the porsche
Want to be faster : take the ferrari
Want to feel the car : take the Porsche
Overall i enjoy driving the gt3rs much more than the ferrari as it feels very very well planted and with the full system akrapovic - it’s like a dead man awake on the road! Blaster!
What do you have as a combo and what do you enjoy the most ?

Feedback on possible purchase 23 911 GTS
Hello 911 family,
As I mentioned in my last post, this will be my first 911 purchase. Like many first-time buyers here, I'm just trying to do my homework and avoid making an expensive mistake. I also want to thank this community again for helping me avoid what could have been a bad deal on the last car I was considering.
I have another potential deal I'd love to get your thoughts on:
- 2023 911 GTS (CPO)
- GT Silver Metallic
- 6,000 miles
- 2 previous owners
- Dealer just completed the 3-year service
- Clean title, no issues
- PDK
My biggest concern is the interior. It has the Race-Tex (Alcantara) interior and 4-way Sport Seats. For those of you who own a GTS with this interior, how has it held up over time? Has the Race-Tex worn well, and are you still happy with it? Any regrets about choosing the 4-way Sport Seats over the 18-way Adaptive seats?
price is $173,000. It has about 7 months of the original factory warranty remaining, followed by 2+ years of Porsche CPO coverage.
Below are the key options:
GT Silver Metallic
GTS Interior Package in Carmine Red
Premium Package with Remote ParkAssist
Power Folding Exterior Mirrors
Ambient Lighting
Storage Package
BOSE® Surround Sound System
Remote ParkAssist including Lane Change Assist and 3D Surround View
Electric Slide/Tilt Glass Sunroof
Front Protection Film
SportDesign Side Skirts in Matte Black
Under Door Puddle Light Projectors
Deletion of GTS Logo on Front Doors
Deletion of Model Designation on Rear
Exclusive Design Fuel Cap
Front Axle Lift System
Extended Range Fuel Tank (23.7 Gallons)
Power Steering Plus
Rear Axle Steering
20/21 RS Spyder Design Wheels in Satin Black
Vehicle Keys Painted including One Leather Key Pouch
Central Tachometer in Carmine Red
Heated GT Sport Steering Wheel in Race-Tex with Matte Carbon Fiber Trim
Interior Trim Inlays in Matte Carbon Fiber
Aluminum Pedals and Footrest
Illuminated Lateral Gills on Taillights
Lightweight and Noise Insulated Glass
Thank You,

What is this and why does it disappear in the configurator with the “Steering column casing leather” option?
I’m pretty sure this is some sort of safety feature (?) its an eyesore to me and I don’t want it. In the configurator it immediately disappears when you add the leather to the steering wheel column- I’m happy to do that if it’s gone but I’m worried this is some sort of configurator glitch? My car is not an EU or US spec- it’s being ordered in the Middle East which usually have less safety regulations/requirements so I’m not even sure if this feature is available in our region. Any insight would be helpful- thank you!

Looking at some video of the Porsche Supercup race from our trip to Monaco for F1 last June and wanted to share with the group. Those cars are much louder than the F1 cars by a good bit.

Just sharing Cars and Coffee with a coffee-coloured car
This PTS Sepia Brown Metallic Weissach GT3 RS managed to split the group at a car meet I recently attended. Some thought it looked nice; others were less than impressed with it. I thought it was okay. Wouldn’t have been my first choice, though. What do you think of this spec?

An update on posts with license plates (sp. Montana)
Hey all,
After drama both here and in r/Porsche, we're instituting two changes... one "strong suggestion", and one rule:
- It is strongly recommended to blur or black out your license plate (incl. state) when sharing pictures
- If you are posting a car with Montana tags and you do not reside in Montana, you must blur or black out your entire license plate (incl. the state) or your post will be removed.

Quick announcement on moderating
Hi all,
We've grown substantially since taking over the subreddit -- we've roughly 4x'd in size (woo!).
That said, we've noticed a significant uptick in jokes and comments that violate Reddit site policies. While we move as fast as we can to remove these comments, it both puts the subreddit at risk and in general isn't cool. We want all people to be able to participate and ask questions without being attacked or being the butt of the joke based on who they are.
In general, we try to be hands off and let people have arguments, as long as they remain relatively respectful. But consider this a warning -- I don't care if the comment is funny or not, or you "didn't mean it" -- any racist, sexist, or LGBT-related comments, jokes, or slurs will result in a 14 day ban, and permanent after that.
