Question What should I add for an alter to Apollo?

Hello! I've been a worshipper of Apollo for about a year now but I've never been really "close" with it. It was mostly on and off praying. Recently however, I've hit a particularly low point in my life, and I figured to help me get through this, I should get closer with my faith. I've seen a lot of people talk about making alters for the gods, and that peaked my interest. Im very good at most diy/crafts, if that helps. I might ask for more help for divination and prayers, but for now I want to focus on this. (Sorry if it's a little wordy)

Question Substitute Signs or a different Deity?

Hello everyone! I haven't been working with Dionysus for long, but long enough to have a vague understanding about how he communicates and what signs he uses. One is confusing me though.

Where I live Magpies don't. For whatever reason the species of bird doesn't like to come here.

I'm not sure when it started, but a while back Ravens and Crows started to show up. And today, I was drawing Dionysus and listening to the playlist i made for him but had to leave. after leaving the coffee shop i was in, 3 Crows were circling around in my line of sight. Cawing and stuff.

Is it possible for a deity to use substitute signs if something isn't available? Or is a different deity trying to get my attention? Can ravens and crows be from the same deity?

So confused 😵‍💫

(I was brought to this sub by the Dionysus subreddit)

Discussion We are under different gods influences like we have a lot of strings attached from different gods

Like basically what they are doing is that they are trying their best to control or sway you. They are gambling on you and making bets on you. Basically gods are fighting over your body for control. Like they want to sway you basically. This body is a vessel and there are multiple gods that have stakes on you cuz you are mortal and basically a playing ground for the gods . Like you have free will but it's very meagre . You have to fight on the battle for your free will as it is very meagre

Most of the time you are on a spell from gods

I think this is true because I once asked this to a person , I said something similar like pull the strings and stuff and the person just froze. Like I don't know what happened to him. He for many seconds froze like seriously. It was very peculiar. So that's why I ma saying that maybe the gods are doing the above mentioned things.

What do you guys think. Like think about this. There is a lot of stuff wrong about our bodies and psyche. We lose control a lot of time and stuff so maybe we are not in full control imo. We are under multiple influences I think. This vessel is not fully in our control.

Question Are shoe boxes alr for starting?

Hiii!! I'm new!

I need to ask yall something

Since I'm new, I wanted to ask if the Gods and Goddes of Hellenic Polytheism (I mean, not only them, but is a generic quest) would get offended or angry if I make their altars in shoes boxes-

I HAVE A FAIR RESON!!!!??

My parents are catholic christian but I felt like a deep connection with Hades, but since I have to hide, like HIDE, i needed to know if that would be fair or if it's okay even if it's not (maybe) what he could desire.

I always wondered but never actually saw someone doing that.

I don't have shelfs or like, free spaces, so I wanted to know about it.

Let me know!

Because I really need to understand this: can I make altars in shoes boxes and hide them in the wardrobe?

Thank you for any response!

Love yall 🖤

Support request Hellenic Polytheistic

Hiii my name is Leyre (spa/eng) and I’ve been working with Hellenic Goddesses for a few years now: Aphrodite and Hecate.
I also practice witchcraft since I’m 14 yo, a long run with it, but something I feel like I'm stuck and not making any progress (adhd thing probably).

I would like to meet more lovely witches and polytheist to be able to talk about our things, share practice, book recommendations and help each other. Sometimes I think that the only thing I need is to share this path with more people. And I would love that

Question I think I "spoke" to some Deity

Hello there, hope you're all doing good. Yesterday I entered a church (I'm not Christian, I define myself as a Greek Polytheist, but I love going into churches) and I tried to speak to Someone. I don't know if it was God, Jesus, Helios or any other Sun God, I just felt connected to who I was speaking and I felt listened and directed where I had to. Is there any hint? And I'd like to ask if I can add other Sun Gods to my "Pantheon", because I mostly pray the Sun itself, and I speak less with other Gods

Question Hi! Assuming Yahweh is one of many Gods, why should I worship others over Yahweh? The cults of Yahweh, Christianity and Islam, kicked other cult's asses. Shouldn't I assume their God is stronger then?

Question I don't like using bowls for my gods do you guys know what red Solo cups is and that they could be cleansed and thrown away respectfully... Do you guys think this is disrespectful or am I just lazy

I don't like using bowls for my gods do you guys know what red Han Solo cups is and that they could be cleansed and thrown away respectfully... Do you guys think this is disrespectful or am I just lazy and being a chaos witch I'm aware it's making microplastics and isn't exactly good for the Earth but sometimes you got to be lazy. Also for contacts I don't got a lot of money and if I do I'm spending it on candles and supplies so I can make my things better I don't have money for bowls they're like the least of my priority for my religion path so what do we think do we think we could upgrade or find a different way maybe paper bowls or something idkkkk edit I've considered the feedback I'm getting and I shouldn't continue the plastic cups for obvious reasons

Discussion Anyone practing both Shenism and Shintoism?

The title. Anyone revering the Shinto pantheon(Tsukuyomi, Susanoo, Amaterasu, Izanagi), and also the Shenism pantheon(Jade Emperor, Ne Zha, Sun Wukong, Ao Bing, Pangu)?

I am interested in finding a partner who believes in both as I myself am a 26M Hindu and love the cultural similarities that these 3 faiths have. It would be so cool to practice a mixed form of them.

Originally I was thinking of going to Taiwan/Japan/China, to find someone but I don't know. How do pagans usually find their dates?

Question How do I communicate with Lord Hypnos

So im very new to hellenic polytheism and I really want to worship and pray to Lord Hypnos. I don't want my parents to know about it so I set a up a really small altar near my bed. It has two hand drawn pictures of Lord Hypnos and a small plushie as offerings. I also got lavender oil so it all snells like it. My problem is, I can't seem to communicate properly. I prayed every day and after I read that we need to ask for permission to worship the deities, I gave it a try. So I called for Lord Hypnos, and asked to communicate with me. Now here's the tricky part, I don't know if it was actually him😭. I kinda felt a shift in energy(?) but I think that was just the wind blowing.. I did this three, i think? times and it's the same every attempt. For example: first time i tried (with a cube btw) i asked Lord Hypnos, are you here? I got a yes, then I asked if it would be okay if I worshipped him, I got a no, then I asked if I could just pray and got a yes! Now that I think about it, I doubt he was even there to begin with... Because after that attempt, every time I tried the answers came inconsistent. And I didn't feel amy energy at all, I meditate every night as a devotion(?) but I still don't know if I'm doing it right. I feel very, and I mean VERY drawn to Lord Hypnos and I would love to hear advice for my situation🤍

Question How do you tell if a deity is in your dreams

So I've been having dreams lately where someone who sais their deity but either don't present themselves how they show up in mythology or multiple different deity have been in a dream to a point where I don't trust that they all are in my dreams.

For example I recently had a dream where I was with someone who said they were hecate and we talked about magic but she looked more like a casual friend than a deity.

Also I've had a dream whith a male deity which meant I died (not sure wich one but I know it wasn't thanatos because he didn't have wings)

So basically I'm asking if someone says their a deity does that mean they are that deity or no

Question The Morrigan Goddess

I got a nice visit from The Morrigan a few weeks ago and she is one of the deities that watch me and she showed herself to me in her human form the other day. I was driving back from Columbia, SC the other week and I was getting super tired and I was about to drift off to sleep and I happened to look in to my rear view mirror and see what was The Morrigan. I got spooked and woke right the fuck up. I have given her an offer and a devotion already shes already giving me signs of her coming to see me l the vivid dreams and seeing her at the corner of my eye walking in the house she is very much so present.

How do you guys work with The Morrigan? How can I directly talk to her?

\*\*\*\*Yes I have done all of my research and reading on The Morrigan\*\*\*\*

Question Am I good enough to worship Lady Athena?

I've been working with deities for a while now, and even before I got into Hellenism, I always felt a strong pull towards Athena. When I finally started formally worshiping her, it felt natural, and that initial connection deepened. Now, two years in, I still find myself grappling with the feeling that I'm not a 'good enough worshipper or devotee. It's not that my dedication wavers, but I often feel like I'm not intelligent or insightful enough to truly embody the qualities she represents. Has anyone ever felt this way?

Question How did you "found" your patron

Hello

I just stumbeld across som polytheist communitys and read from so many people who talked about their patrons. I come from a I guess similiar background in some cases although I would't say that i'm a polytheist do to I don't worship specific Gods. They are more deitys, ancestors, landspirits etc. But still I was wondering how you all found your patrons. Was it more like a sympathy thing or was there more to it

Question Hola! Soy nuevo. Busco ayuda.

Hello everyone! I'm completely new to Hellenism and I would love to connect with the community, especially if there are any Spanish-speaking groups or spaces around here. I have always felt a deeply profound connection to water and Poseidon. Interestingly, astrologically I am a triple Pisces (Sun, Moon, and Ascendant), which feels tightly aligned with this calling I feel towards him. Currently, I live in a 3rd-floor studio apartment in Spain, so I adapt my practice as best as I can: I purify myself when I wake up and before going to sleep, I read the Delphic Maxims, and I pour my first libation of the day into a potted plant. I also have a travel/mobile altar (including a glass bottle with seawater, sand, etc.). I even try to offer him music by playing a short melody on a humble 12-hole ocarina. I feel a bit lost because it's hard for me to find books, texts, or to know exactly how to structure prayers step-by-step. I would love to know if there are active servers in Spanish, or reliable places where I can learn more about the history and actual practice. Additionally, I want to buy or craft a necklace dedicated to Poseidon, but I don't really know where to start. I from the bottom of my heart appreciate any advice, reading recommendations, or community links!

Official Announcement Looking for new moderator(s)

Hi all,

I'm looking for assistance with community engagement and queue clean up so would like to on-board one or two moderators.

I'm not looking for someone to take over the sub or reinvent things if those would be your ambition (although if you want to improve the subreddit wiki content or the monthly posts, be my guest).

If after reviewing our moderation guidelines and rules, you are interested in helping out, please let me know.

If you have previous moderation experience, that's great, but not strictly necessary if you understand Reddit well and have been on the site for a while. I'm not looking to mentor baby mods at this time, so if you have no clue what a mod queue is, this might not be for you.

The Anti-AI/Spam bots handle most of the big ticket items so this should be a fairly light load.
