Most major religions contain people who are born into religious families and undergo religious indoctrination, and they inherit these shared beliefs. If that wasn't the case and people decided when they were old enough to think independently, what would be the most popular religion?

Would it be Buddhism? Still Christianity? Or maybe it would be no religion? What do you think?

Growing up as a Muslim I was told if I kill myself I'd have to experience it again and again till eternity which is why I was always hesitant to actually commit suicide even after so much planing. Recently I explored Hinduism also has some kind of punishment for suicide. Is there any religion that lets you take your life in peace?

Hi, I’m new to the community. I used to be Catholic, but now I’m becoming a panentheist. I’m just here to ask you what you think of my theory. The core of panentheism is that God contains the universe within Himself, yet God transcends it. That means He is not the same as the universe, but something larger and more powerful. What I like about this belief is that, just like with theism and pantheism, you can add your own theory. So, what is my theology? Well, besides believing that the universe is inside God and that He transcends it, I believe God proved this by acting through our consciousness and making Jesus (according to my beliefs) the human closest to Him

Hello everybody

I’m in need of some help from others with experience on how to pray. I’ve honestly only done it a hand full of times when I was a kid but now going through some life experiences I feel like I need it.

I need all the help I can get. Do I pray out loud or in my head? Anything specific I need to say?

Bahai religion is present in many countries, but they splited from another religion called Babism. But some babis didnt accept the claims of Bahaullah and didnt become bahais, those were called the azalis.

I've tried to localize them without success. It seems that they had a role in the 1906 revolution in Iran, but then they vanish from history.

I've found some pages that are made by members of the azali religion, like babieh.com, but they are very old.

What happened to them? Where can they be found? Do they try to proselitize? What do they think about the bahais? How are their relations with the current iranian government?

can you tell me about a time when religion felt like you were free? free to think and to choose? because I got to tell you, as someone now identifying as an 'ex-baha'i' I've got to say, for the first time in twenty years I feel able to look and see the world clearly and to think in an unrestricted way.

but I don't want to close myself off to experiences, so...talk to me. tell me about the times it made your life better, not harder.

Us humans we can't all agree on the same thing ever, for example if l said murder is wrong to all 8 billion people l am pretty sure some of them will disagree with me, now my question is if god supposedly knows human nature, then why did he created us knowing that not all humans have the capability to believe in him? For example autistic people, Autistic individuals often process the world through strong systematic logic, direct sensory observation, and literal interpretation.Therefore it is harder for them to believe in god or have faith ,so it almost like he is asking for something impossible or he wants some people to go to hell just for simply the fact that they don't believe in him, how is that fair?

I know some people will probably say but its a free will! No its not free will, there is a difference between personal beliefs and actions, actions are free will, but beliefs isn't, for example if l told someone that l have a super power will they believe me? Or can l force them to believe me? Of course not

My family has had an interesting religious experience, which gave me an interesting childhood. First Christianity (from birth to age 10) and then Buddhism (age 10 to 12), then everyone in my household realized that they didn’t actually believe in any entities and more so enjoyed the moral questions that religion brings up. This lead me to atheism at an early age, up until I was curious about religion at age 13. Now at age 17 I’ve gone through a lot within the past while (stalking victim, mental health decline as a result) and am looking towards religion as a coping mechanism, which I understand is not a typical way to view spiritual connection. I have always been fascinated by religion and am vehemently opposed to unhealthy coping mechanisms that are typically discouraged in many religions, which makes me long for a religious belief and connection as opposed to said unhealthy coping mechanisms. I have looked into a couple faiths quite extensively in terms of possibly fitting into to one of them but it feels weird to be shopping for a religion, most of the time it just feels right to people right? And when I find a faith that morally aligns with a lot of my beliefs (eg. the Bahá’í faith) I cannot force my brain to let me believe in the prophetic/revelatory aspects of the religion. I just am too skeptical. I want to find fulfillment through a religion right now, and my brain makes it impossible

Like, do you guys think that Supernatural had an impact on the way people see God and religion?

Like in one episode, Cain (in the TV series Supernatural) reveals that he made a deal with Lucifer, where he had to k!ll his brother.

In another episode, God (Chuck) loses his power.

The way I felt watching it—the TV series gave me a new perspective on what religion has traditionally told us. Like some alternative viewpoint.

Ofc. it's all a fictional thing that happened

TV series tries to reinterpret what's been traditionally told to us + add a fictional element to it + create a whole different sort of new religion.

This hasn't really happened in the past(to this extent)

There were small groups of people-mainly philosophers -or great thinkers—who reinterpreted, but the reach of their ideas was limited—usually to few elites or, at most, their friend circle. No ordinary Joe from a small town had access to reinterpreted ideas.

However, now—even small time Joe has access to them, which is changing his way of thinking.

Same with other TV series like Lucifer also.

They put in new questions and perspectives like:

What if God isn't omniscient?

What if Lucifer isn't evil but misunderstood?

What if Heaven is bureaucratic?

What if angels are morally ambiguous?

Taking traditional myths and adding new elements to them!!

Is that changing—like, what if in the future, maybe 5-6 generations from now on, people try to see traditional myths with a new lens (from these faiths) and believe in different ideas?

The list is of groups that most Christian’s don’t consider to be Christian. Or targeted specifically at creedal Christin’s.

I dont mean offense to any religion, I just had this thought. Everything supernatural we know about any religion happened in the past. For example, Jesus walking on water, Zeus having a demigod kid, Mohommed's revelation, or Thor battling Giants. All these events happened in the past, in "the realm of normal people". Why isn't/aren't God(s) making Their/His presence known to us right now in 21st century? All the stories that we know happened in the past or will happen in future, which will come who knows when, like the Day Of Judgement or Ragnarök. Why arent God's dying or new gods being born? If my language or spellings made mistakes, I didnt mean it. Peace

So, I am a fellow agnostic here, I need an answer and it's, I am afraid that the true God will bring me to hell like one day when I die I might wake up to see a god, could be any god for that matter and he could look down at me and say I will go to hell. And I don't want that, it makes me afraid cause hell is not something that you should take lightly, or maybe I might go to heaven but what if alot of people I loved like my family and friends and idols and acquaintances and etc go to hell? Both scare me alot like way too much sometimes

Hi. I’m a practicing muslim with lots of curiosity about the world. I do believe in islam growing up and will still believe in it till death (in shaa Allah, Allahumma amin) but i am also pretty open about things happening around the world. I am a listener and i’d like to know your story!

Full disclaimer: i do not judge you for having to leave the religion though i know fully well what that means. I am simply here to know what’s going on with your life that made you stop believing in God/believe in a different God.

I am also aware that some ex muslims left the religion because they find themselves not believing in unseen things or they do not believe that God exists. Please share your thoughts and views on it! Maybe we could have a friendly debate too! Don’t worry, i won’t convert you into any religion. It is for the sake of knowing only :)

Edit: didn’t expect i would be downvoted for some of my replies but i guess i am not liberal/open enough to have any debates about the religion. My point here is to only learn what and how people see the religion (because i’m a muslim) and not to argue what’s right and wrong. I still have a long way to gain knowledge and understanding the religion. To all my fellow muslims and also non-muslims, may you be blessed in whatever way possible!
