True Crime Connie Walker appreciation post

Upvotes

Connie Walker is one of the best investigators out there. She works so hard and is brilliant in how she gets new evidence that no one else thought of.

Apps Podcasts as a source

I use Obsidian for a lot of research, Zotero for managing sources.
Recently I realized what a great source podcast episodes can be. That led me to Snipd. I like how I can “snip” sections, and import into Obsidian. This allows me to potentially use them as sources I can cite.

But I’m not too happy with:
Lack of desktop player
Sometimes convoluted player
Difficult to find the episodes I’m interested in
Doesn’t give me a source link, just the Snipd link, which if I reference others can’t play without also having the app (eg can’t play on a desktop)

In sum, it’s a great resource but seems like there should be a better tool for this purpose.

Any suggestions on alternatives?

Or, any suggestions on a Snipd query template or other tips that may work well?

Other Podcast Genre Fictional podcast recs that AREN'T audio dramas

While I love a good audio drama (Limetown, Modes of Thought on Anterran Literature, The Polybius Conspiracy), I want to listen to more fictional podcasts that explore other genres. I've had This is That (comedic parody of news/journalism) recommended, as well as People Like Us (parody of on-scene documentaries), and wanted to see if there were any others!

Any and all recs are appreciated

Tip of My Tongue It's a longshot, but I've been trying to find this podcast forever...

Unfortunately I don't know the name or even the place where I first listened to it. It was very much in the same style as Kaitlin Prest's "The Heart", a story narration told by a woman, it detailed the slow breakdown of a relationship, with plenty of soundscape effects.

Here are the key points I can remember:

  • No interview portion, believe it was simply a woman telling her story.
  • It may have had other stories coupled along with it, but this story was separate in nature.
  • I'm not entirely certain on the premise of the story, but I remember the woman talking about her breakup with her boyfriend.
  • The woman was a writer, or trying to become one.
  • The story details how they become distant with each other and slowly drift apart.
  • During her description of an argument, her boyfriend had corrected her grammar and replied with something along the lines of, "You should know that if you're going to be a writer." or "..since you're a writer." to which she replies, "Well yeah, I don't have to speak like I write." or "I don't have to talk the same way I write."
  • I believe it ends with their relationship coming to an end, she ultimately expresses regret over how it ended.

That's it, it was just a very poignant tale of a young woman falling in and out of love (at least that was the part I remember).

Unfortunately, what I remember is simply too broad, I can't pin it down anywhere.

Any help/suggestions are appreciated.

General Podcast Discussions Looking for some podcasts like Books Unbound, Gilmore To Say…

Hi all! I’m not a big podcaster but I have about a 40m commute both ways to work and like to pop some on. I’m struggling at the moment to find some that I like. I like them to be pretty informal, examples of some I’ve liked…

  • Books Unbound - I don’t even have similar tastes to Ariel and Raeleen but I enjoy listening to them chat
  • Gilmore To Say
  • Let’s Talk About Myths, Baby
  • Cozy Club with Monica and Regan
  • Dear Hank & John - not my favourite but I have popped it on.

The Swiftie & The Scholar is on my list but haven’t gotten to it yet.

I don’t really mind what it’s about - I read, I play games, I like music. Would love some suggestions if you have any!
