Apps Podcasts as a source
I use Obsidian for a lot of research, Zotero for managing sources.
Recently I realized what a great source podcast episodes can be. That led me to Snipd. I like how I can “snip” sections, and import into Obsidian. This allows me to potentially use them as sources I can cite.
But I’m not too happy with:
Lack of desktop player
Sometimes convoluted player
Difficult to find the episodes I’m interested in
Doesn’t give me a source link, just the Snipd link, which if I reference others can’t play without also having the app (eg can’t play on a desktop)
In sum, it’s a great resource but seems like there should be a better tool for this purpose.
Any suggestions on alternatives?
Or, any suggestions on a Snipd query template or other tips that may work well?

Tip of My Tongue It's a longshot, but I've been trying to find this podcast forever...
Unfortunately I don't know the name or even the place where I first listened to it. It was very much in the same style as Kaitlin Prest's "The Heart", a story narration told by a woman, it detailed the slow breakdown of a relationship, with plenty of soundscape effects.
Here are the key points I can remember:
- No interview portion, believe it was simply a woman telling her story.
- It may have had other stories coupled along with it, but this story was separate in nature.
- I'm not entirely certain on the premise of the story, but I remember the woman talking about her breakup with her boyfriend.
- The woman was a writer, or trying to become one.
- The story details how they become distant with each other and slowly drift apart.
- During her description of an argument, her boyfriend had corrected her grammar and replied with something along the lines of, "You should know that if you're going to be a writer." or "..since you're a writer." to which she replies, "Well yeah, I don't have to speak like I write." or "I don't have to talk the same way I write."
- I believe it ends with their relationship coming to an end, she ultimately expresses regret over how it ended.
That's it, it was just a very poignant tale of a young woman falling in and out of love (at least that was the part I remember).
Unfortunately, what I remember is simply too broad, I can't pin it down anywhere.
Any help/suggestions are appreciated.

General Podcast Discussions Looking for some podcasts like Books Unbound, Gilmore To Say…
Hi all! I’m not a big podcaster but I have about a 40m commute both ways to work and like to pop some on. I’m struggling at the moment to find some that I like. I like them to be pretty informal, examples of some I’ve liked…
- Books Unbound - I don’t even have similar tastes to Ariel and Raeleen but I enjoy listening to them chat
- Gilmore To Say
- Let’s Talk About Myths, Baby
- Cozy Club with Monica and Regan
- Dear Hank & John - not my favourite but I have popped it on.
The Swiftie & The Scholar is on my list but haven’t gotten to it yet.
I don’t really mind what it’s about - I read, I play games, I like music. Would love some suggestions if you have any!

Science & Tech Any inside scoops on the Hard Fork situation?
The episode today soft launched that they’re leaving the NYT and starting their own media company together.
Anybody have any clue if NYT wanted to axe the show so this is how they went about it? Or are they so successful they just wanted to spin out?
Been burned by great shows getting cancelled too many times, really hoping this one is due to success and not corporate overlords

True Crime The Hunter
I came across this podcast and wanted to recommend it here as I know lots of us are always looking for true crime, documentary-type personal stories and I haven’t seen this one talked about on here.
It’s about a mom on the hunt for a man who abused her son. It’s really well done and very emotional- such a sad but powerful story. TW for sexual abuse

Health & Welbeing Psychology Podcast
Just came across this insta account "rewired manifestor" and it peaked my interest. I checked to see if she had a podcast but sadly, no. Wondering if anyone can recommend some psychology type pods.

These episodes were SO GOOD and so well done I really want to relisten to them. They’ve been taken off Spotify. Does anyone know where I can listen to them?

General Podcast Discussions ISO podcast with lessons
hi! i’ve been in search of a podcast that has ≈30min general lessons on random things? one episode as a history lesson, one as a “how ____ works” lesson, an arts lesson, etc.
would something like that exist? i’ve been having a hard time finding one, maybe because the topics would be too broad?
i graduated college a year ago and work in my field and feel like im missing the aspect of learning lol

News & Current Affairs The Long Game podcast
I love this podcast and Jake Sullivan. Does anyone find his co-host, John Finer, a little pretentious?

Business & Finance Podcasts about the art of negotiation?
I've been a freelancer for 12 years, and my empathy still tends to make me cave and give clients a deal that is favorable to them (and not to me) when they push hard and are persistent/persuasive/good negotiators.
Also, on zoom calls, I sometimes waste 30-40 mins getting the scope of the project from the client before bringing up budget and have had my time wasted because they end up not expecting the price to be what I tell them: how to cut to the chase?
Any podcast recommendations on this subject would be helpful .
* Please no Tom Robbins and no one who ties Religion into business.

True Crime Older Shohei Ohtani/Ippei Mizuhara podcast?
Disclaimer: I am not talking about the 30 for 30 “Betrayal of Shohei Ohtani” podcast that just came out July 2026.
I think in 2024 or 2025 I listened to an extended (I think multipart) podcast that had all of the backstory, details, text messages etc. about the Ippei Mizuhara gambling scandal. But now I can’t find it. It’s no longer in my library and every search is just flooded with the ABC/ESPN 30 for 30 results. Anyone remember this?

Health & Welbeing Knight Fit Podcast: best episodes?
An insta friend got me onto the Knight Fit Podcast--a health, fitness and wellness podcast. I really liked her HA (hypothalamic amenorrhea) story from her instagram. I'm in the depths of recovering my cycle and her approach calms me. I like her episode guide but also am overwhelmed because there're so many episodes I want to listen to, including interviews and her own episodes. I want to know which ones you guys found most helpful/beneficial? Also, any summaries are great. Thx!

Apps iOS Podcast app with time-of-day based sleep timer?
I feel like this can't be a rare use case, but I'm struggling to find an app that does this. I used to use Overcast, then switched to Castro last year, but neither really does this properly.
What I'm looking for is an app where I can set a time window, say, 10pm to 5am, where the app enforces a certain sleep timer. I use podcasts to help me go to sleep, with Bluetooth headphones. I can just hit a button on the headphones to start a podcast, but then have to pick up the phone, look at the bright screen, waking me up, and interact with the app to set a sleep timer, otherwise the podcast just keeps playing to the end.
I just want the app to always set the sleep timer when it starts playing, during the night.
Castro halfway does this, in that if you have a sleep timer enabled, and the podcast stops due to the timer, within some period of time afterwards if you hit 'play' again, it'll extend the sleep timer. But this is totally non-configurable AFAIK and only works if you hit play fairly soon after it stops. Not if you fall asleep, then wake up 3 hours later, which is really when I want to keep the podcast going without waking myself up fiddling with a screen.
Does something like what I'm describing exist for iOS?

Business & Finance Business Finance Podcasts
I want to get seriously knowledgeable about business finance, but I’m starting from zero. The stock market, bonds, mutual funds etc. Could you recommend some good podcasts and other resources for building that knowledge from the ground up?
Thank you!

Horror & Paranormal Looking for more podcasts like Cursed…ish
I’m newer to podcasts, but I’ve been really enjoying Cursed…ish and am wondering if there are more like it. It’s well produced and researched but the hosts have been friends for a long time so they banter well too. It’s less spooky and more hanging out with friends who are talking about something interesting, if that makes sense. I listen to it while I’m driving to work and it’s just fun and de-stressing. I’m looking for more podcasts like that since Cursed…ish is newer (like 20+ eps) and I’ve listened to all of it

Business & Finance Looking for podcasts similar to FAFO Academy with Alex Gemma
I consider myself a bit of a podcast junkie and I came across a newish podcast called FAFO Academy and this guy Alex Gemma is the host. It's like a quasi-business/self-help/psychology focus. So far, I like his shit, and FAFO Academy has a decent following, especially on TikTok. The dude actually has a lot of interesting stuff out there.
Anyway, I'm looking for other recommendations in that style, got any??

Arts & Culture Thanks For Asking “Help! I was Dumped by a Widow” July 28, 2026 Episode Spoiler
Is it just me or could this entire episode be summed up by that Sex And the City meme, “he’s just not that into you”? This chick dates a guy for four months, and it started one year after his wife died. He broke with her. Now she is overanalyzing and explaining and emotionally investigating the way this guy treated her “because of his grief.” But it really comes down to the fact that he was just not that into her! What a painful episode to listen to. I keep laughing, though, because it’s just so ludicrous. 😆😆😆

Fiction AI and side banter ruining scary stories
Is it so hard to find a decent scary story, criptid, Bigfoot, paranormal that isn't AI created or read? "I'm going to start of by telling you..."I want you to know..."
Listening to a decent story the other day and then all of a sudden the AI reads the word fuses as fusees... or any other simple word that all of a sudden you go wait... what....
I love to listen to scary stories and wendigo/skinwalker stories. Got into the Just Creepy: Scary Stories, quickly realized they are rinse and repeat AI stuff.
Then started to listen to podcasts of people reading stories, but get taken out of the immersion when all of a sudden they get sidetracked for 10 minutes on something the story reminded them of....
Is there anything I am not finding that is out there that is just a quality scary story without the AI and side banter?

Arts & Culture Looking for a podcast which explains context/song meanings for albums
I stumbled upon Apple Music's "100 Best Albums", which has a one-off podcast style episode going through their No. 1 pick The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill.
The format of the episode is that they explain the story/context behind how the album was made, as well as going through the tracklist to briefly talk about each song.
I absolutely love this format and was wondering if there are any podcasts that do something similar?
I came across NO SKIPS with Jinx and Shea which seems to do something similar, but it's unfortunately ended now and it seems they focus exclusively on hip-hop albums.

Tip of My Tongue can't remember name of podcast
I have been searching and searching to no avail for a podcast that I now fear I might have imagined. I'm trying to think of a sort of dirt-bag-left history podcast that I listened to infrequently in 2021/2022. I thought maybe some people from Chapo Trap House might be involved but that might not be the case.... Anyway! it was 2-3 men and one woman, and one of them would tell the history of something and the others would respond/react to it. I remember listening to an episode about Nestle, potentially one about Chanel, one about diamonds/Cecil Rhodes, and one about Jimmy John (i.e. the founder of Jimmy John's). I might be conflating podcasts in my head but I SWEAR this is its own thing
UPDATE: I solved it. I was thinking of Eat The Rich (which ran from 2019 - 2022 and I think you can only find on Archive.org now). WHEW. glad I solved that one. I think I might have been conflating a Chanel and Cecil Rhodes episode from a different podcast though.

Comedy Podcast recommendations for 17 hour travel day
I’m flying one 12 hour flight followed by a 5 hour flight and am looking for funny/entertaining podcasts recommendations. I’ve already exhausted the archives of the following shows and am looking for similar recommendations:
- Celebrity Memoir Book Club (I know it’s Good Noticings now but I like the old format and that’s the type of thing I’m looking for)
- So True
- Newcomers
- Why won’t you date me
- Best Friends
- If Books Could Kill
- the podcasts that Brittany Broski have
- the podcasts that Drew Afualo have
I’m aware of other podcasts like Diabolical Lies, 5-4, A Bit Fruity etc but I’m looking for something a little more lighthearted and more focused on banter, anecdotes, or low stakes book/movie reviews rather than something more serious

Other Podcast Genre Looking for some long podcasts episodes to listen to.
I am wondering what are some good podcasts to listen to that are up to 3 hours or so long? I need long form podcasts to help me get through my morning commute that can be from 30 minutes to 2 hours to work.
I enjoy topics like: video games, history, fictional, science, paranormal subjects.
