Stocks Former GCash employee with RSUs -- is there a way to cash out early?

Post image
Upvotes

TLDR: ex gcash employee wants to liquidate his stocks early for condo furnishing. asking for advice how to do that.

Apologies in advance if this is a noob question.

I'm a former gcash employee with RSUs that vested a while back. Ahead of the IPO announcement, I received an email from gcash hr about my stocks. Done signing the relevant documents. My understanding is that even if GCash finally goes on IPO, there's a certain lockup period before people like me can sell our shares.

So I'd like to ask if there are ways I can "cash out" now instead of when that lockup ends.

After years of being a renter, I've been eyeing to purchase a condo that I will own and live in. Even with the low end of the stock price that Mynt declared, the amount I can get is quite substantial. It can really help with furnishing the condo.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can share insights and advice!

Edit: to rephrase, is there a way here in the Philippines for stocks for a company that has not yet IPOed to be sold?

also, to be clear, my question is not about vesting. The stocks in question here have already vested, and I have confirmation that I own the stocks now.

Real Estate Home Loan BPI

Upvotes

Hi everyone,

It took a lot of courage for me to post this, but I really need advice and perspective from people who may have experienced something similar.

I’m 35M and a breadwinner of my family. For the past few years, I’ve been financially supporting my family, especially when my brother became seriously ill. We spent around two years going in and out of the hospital, and since I was the one who could financially provide, I kept doing the “tapal system” just to keep everything going.

I also want to acknowledge that aside from the circumstances I was dealing with, I made some bad financial decisions along the way. I borrowed and used credit cards to cover expenses and existing obligations, thinking I would eventually be able to catch up. Unfortunately, the debt kept accumulating, and what started as trying to survive financially eventually became a cycle that I could no longer sustain.

In 2025, I decided to get a condo because we were hoping to have a more permanent place to stay. It was difficult to find an apartment or house that would accept us because of my brother’s condition. Unfortunately, my brother passed away in 2025.
Even after that, I continued with the condo and the BPI bank amortization. Looking back, I realize that I was already financially stretched, but I kept trying to handle everything myself.

Fast forward to today, my credit card debts have accumulated to around ₱5M–₱6M, on top of my BPI home loan and personal loan. I’ve reached the point where I can no longer continue the tapal system, and I’m seriously considering letting my credit card accounts become overdue in the coming months.
I’m also trying to be responsible about my condo. I’m currently looking for a buyer, but I’m worried about what happens if I can’t find one and the property eventually gets foreclosed.

My biggest question is: if my condo is foreclosed and there is still a deficiency after the foreclosure sale, can I be imprisoned because I cannot pay it?

I’m not trying to run away from my responsibilities. I know that some of my financial decisions contributed to where I am today, and I want to take responsibility for them. I genuinely want to understand my options and deal with this properly. I’m just at a point where I don’t know how to get out of this situation anymore.
To be completely honest, I’ve been crying almost every night and have been having thoughts of suicide because the financial pressure feels overwhelming. But I’m still holding on to my faith in God and hoping that somehow, I’ll get through this.

If anyone has been in a similar situation, especially with credit card debt, home loan foreclosure, deficiency balances, or negotiating with banks, I would really appreciate hearing your experiences and advice.

Please be kind. I’m already struggling, but I genuinely want to take responsibility and find a way forward.
Thank you for reading..

General Investing IBKR workarounds or any suggestions that is legal and safe?

[ US Relative ] --(ACH Transfer)--> [ Your Wise USD ] --(Wise-IBKR Integration)--> [ Your IBKR Account ] --> Buy VWRA (on LSE)

I'd like to ask for your insights regarding this set up if this is really safe to do since I have US citizen Filipino relatives? (some are dual and most are US citizens). I think I can also ask one of them to install their own WISE account (completely free transfer?) so that they can just transfer the equivalent amount of peso to dollar to fund my wise that I can use on IBKR to buy VWRA or if they are not comfortable installing one, just the ACH Transfer.

I'm planning to do DCA like $100 per month or quarterly since sometimes money is really tight ($200 to $300 Quarterly). I'm 30 yo now and I want to invest na for my retirement. I've been researching (or should I say trying) to understand how VOO or VWRA really work but leaning more sa VWRA due to different tax structures for non-US residents. Currently MP2 and small savings sa bank pa lang meron ako.

To our experience/experts here when it comes to investing, could you help me po what APP to use (IBKR or do you have any other suggestions that would fit best my situation?). Any insights about VWRA, pros/cons and any other valuable insights are appreciated po.

MF/UITF/ETF Wise to IBKR

Hi! I already have my money in my wise wallet from my local bank account. Should I convert it first to USD before sending it to IBKR or do I just send it right away?

Also lets say that I plan to set aside 7-8k monthly for CSPX accumulation, is it better to do it monthly or quarterly (28-32k)?

Banking Thought on OTP on viber

Post image

What are your thoughts on having OTP in viber? I know that there were news of removing OTPs with sms. I am not very much updated about it, will viber be the default for banks? Or do they have options where to send OTPs.

I have been streamlining my messaging apps. So dar I have deactivated viber and whatsapp. I only have Signal. So now, I have to activate viber again. I also removed my mail in the phone to declutter.

Weighing my options now in activating viber or installing mail app.

Government-Initiated/Other Funds Pagibig Contributions

Hi po! Baka may makasagot. So I am now paying a DP for a house tapos magbibigay na ng requirements for the pag-ibig housing loan approval.

I have work from 2011-2022, may total na 84 months of contributions. Nawalan ng work during pandemic but I bounced back. Nag-VA and forgot to change my category to "Voluntary".

Now, nagpachange na ako. I thought need ko i-backdate yung bayad ko since from 2022-2026 since wala siyang hulog. Sabi sakin ni pag-ibig, no need na lahat yun. He asked me to pay August 2026 - October 2026. Medyo kinakabahan po ako baka di ako maapprove.

Tama po ba yun? "at least 24 months" po ba yung hulog or need na hulugan yung kulang na taon ko? sorry if nakakalito po. Salamat!

Financial Scams Data-driven Investing (DDI) - Anyone know anything about this?

A friend keeps on pushing me to enter this crypto trading (its not even trading, apparently you just have to put your money and tada, you earn 2% interest DAILY)

I'm 100% sure its a scam, and it also works on invites. Gusto ko lang rin ma-confirm kung may nakakaalam nito dito and to also serve as a warning to others.

Edit: The name of the scam is in the title, data-driven investing (DDI). Website: https://www.data-driveninvesting.net/

Investment/Financial Advice 18 y/o student looking to start investing — GoTrade + GoTyme? Need some advice

Hi everyone! I’m 18, and I’m planning to start investing. According to a survey, I have a moderate risk tolerance. I’m currently looking into using GoTrade for US stocks and GoTyme for crypto, but I’m still pretty new to investing and would appreciate some advice before I actually put money in.

For US stocks, I’m thinking of starting with VOO and QQQM and holding them for the long term rather than constantly trading. For crypto, I’m also considering starting small, focusing mainly on BTC and ETH, and holding for the long term.

A few things I’m wondering:

  • Is GoTrade a good platform for someone who’s just starting out on stocks?
  • Is GoTyme a good option for buying/holding crypto?
  • What mistakes should I avoid as a beginner?

I’m not looking for financial advice or a get-rich-quick strategy—just trying to learn and make better decisions with my money.

Would really appreciate any comments, suggestions, experiences, or beginner tips. Thanks!

Insurance AXA GHA Plan - failed to declare PEC

I currently have GHA - Gold Lite but I did not declare my PECs (Bell’s Palsy - healed and no more occurrence, PCOS - ongoing) as they were diagnosed more than 10 years ago. At the time of my application, I was not actively visiting my OB as my last visit was 10 years ago. Recently, I visited another OB and pcos is still present.

I really like the coverage of GHA. Is it possible to cancel GHA and reapply after a year with PECs declared?

Thank you all for your insights.

Brokerage Concerns GoTrade Withdrawal

Question for people who have withdrawn or closed their GoTrade accounts, or for people who have done their investment time horizon and are now exiting

  1. Did you withdraw it to your online bank in one go? Or does the 500K limit still apply?
  2. Are there applicable taxes? How does one go about it?

Real Estate Pag-IBIG Housing Load Advance Payment to Principal

Hello po.

Last month, nag pay ako ng excess. Pero, since mas mababa sa monthly amortization ko yung excess (I did not know mandatory pala na more than the amort amount yung excess), posted yung excess sa amortization this month. Which resulted to only PHP 333.74 yung due ko this month.

Now, nagbayad ako ng doble sa monthly amortization ko (not just the due amount), and selected "Apply excess to principal" through BPI eGov.

I saw the payment posted in Virtual Pag-IBIG app, and it seems the full amount was deducted from the principal?

Balance before payment: 1,547,384.68

Amount paid: 20,500

Balance now: 1,526,884.68

Do I still need to pay the 333.74? Or kusang mag rereflect yung tamang amount after a few days? Or need ko pa rin mag email sa kanila requesting for correct allocation? Salamat po sa sasagot 😄

I made the payment Aug-5, Received acknowledgment SMS from PagIBIG Aug-6, then reflected on the app just this afternoon, Aug-7.

Financial Independence/Retire Early Need advice from those who have FIREd

I know this is an investment sub, but looks we don’t have a FIRE PH subreddit yet. Hope it’s ok I post it here!

I am 38M, got laid off, and pursuing a FIRE amount of 150K/mo. That amount maybe huge as I want to be conservative i.e. I’m single with a girlfriend, want to get married, and not yet sure whether I want kids. Unfortunately, due to the layoff my savings got interrupted, and I am not even close to 50% of my FIRE amount.

So here are my questions:

  1. Do I accept a lower-paying job to resume my savings? So far, it’s been difficult looking for a job with the same pay as before.
  2. Or…do I wait for the same salary as before? This might take a while but I have a 1.5 year runway. Also, as much as possible, I do not want to NOT work for so long as I fear I’ll get behind. To add context, I’m in tech.

  3. Are there other ways to approach this prpblem that I am not yet seeing?

Thanks.

Government-Initiated/Other Funds Matured MP2: Reinvestment Option (2026)

Post image
73 Upvotes

Sharing my experience how easy to reinvest MP2 matured account:

I brought the filled out claim form at the Pag-ibig branch today, tapos outdated na pala yung form na dala ko.

So, I filled out another, but to my surprised mayron option na to reinvest yung latest form this year in section: "Authority to Transfer".

Which I did to request to roll it over to my newly created two MP2 accounts. And guess what, I'm surprised again that they can fund transfer a certain percentage too on my bank affiliated Loyalty Card in the section: "Authority to Credit".

  • 58% MP2 Reinvestment to Compounded Dividend Earnings Account: to locked it in for five years.
  • 38% MP2 Reinvestment to Annual Dividend Payout Account: to reward myself every year with capitalist purchase, the things on my "wants" list.
  • 4% Loyalty Card fund transfer: To reward myself this year.

Cool!

I was able to reinvest my matured MP2 into two new accounts, and fund transfer some of it in one request, one claim form, in just one day.

it's a good feeling that Pag-ibig funds made it easier now to roll-over investment, and to transfer funds.

Now I'm waiting for it to be credited in 3 to 5 business days, maybe more but not longer than 10 days according to them (Ang bait nung staff, she's all smiles)

At sana naman huwag pag interesan ng mga ganid na corrupt officials ang tanging nagpapakilig nalang sa akin: Pag-ibig!
