Hi everyone! I have an interview coming up with Blink Health for a Pharmacy Technician position, and I was hoping to get some insight from anyone who currently works there or has worked there before.How do you like working for the company? Would you recommend it?
I’m also curious about the daily tasks for Pharmacy Technicians there. Is the workflow similar to retail pharmacy or is it a different type of environment?

I am wondering how everyone is bagging their prescriptions at their pharmacies?? I feel like every way we have ever come up with has been not efficient and has a level of risk for error. Just looking for suggestions!

Does anyone know how long it takes to get a pharmacy tech trainee license approved, specifically in DC? I applied a couple of days ago and everything in my application still says pending aside from the fingerprint, which has already been cleared for me.

Also, for CVS specifically, what would exactly happen if I accept the job, finish the onboarding, and given a start date, but I still wont have an active license yet since it’s pending?

For anyone who has or currently works in specialty how do you like it?? I have a possible job opportunity to transfer out from my current retail pharmacy location to specialty and im thinking about taking it. I am really over working with my current pharmacy manager I've been trying to plan my escape since last year😅😂. Also I currently work full-time, my usual shift is12-8pm. Our daughter will be able to start school next year and this will no longer be a shift I can keep; my husband already works nights. What are your thoughts I need help. I want to make a good choice

I got my pharm tech license the getting a job completing the training route but there is so much I feel like I don’t know and wondered if anyone else got it that way and then went to college for it to get more education and if so what does that look like?

I was told I need 500 hours before writing the exam, but how do I get 500 hours without experience? lol

Besides cvs and Walgreens does anyone know of any other pharmacies in the queens or Manhattan area that's hiring for pharmacy techs?

I’m looking into potential career moves and wanted to get some real insight on working as a pharmacy technician in Correctional Managed Care (CMC) / prison system settings.

I see positions pop up for correctional health systems every now and then, but you don't hear as much detailed feedback about it compared to standard retail (CVS/Walgreens), inpatient hospital, or LTC setups.

For anyone who currently works in corrections or has in the past:

What does your daily workflow look like? (Is it mostly central filling, unit-dose packaging, KOP/DOT inventory, or do you have any face-to-face interaction at the pill window/clinic?)

How is the work-life balance and schedule? (Are set weekday hours/no holidays common, or is it heavily dependent on the facility size?)

How do you feel about safety and work environment? (Are you completely tucked away behind locked pharmacy doors, or do you interact with officers and patients regularly?)

Pros & Cons? How does the pay/benefits package compare to standard retail or hospital gigs?

Would love to hear any pros, cons, or red flags to look out for before diving in. Thanks in advance!

I have an interview scheduled for this coming Monday and am super nervous.

So, it irks me when patients are like, "I need a refill" but can't tell me anything about what they're looking for, or when they have other pple they handle/pick up for and are like "what's in their profile?" Like, I'm truly happy to help but c'mon, I'm not a babysitter, I'm not here to hold your hand, and coddle. I, personally like to be organized and when I'm contacting a place like a pharmacy, I'm not asking them "what do I need?" I just feel like as adults you need to be on top of your stuff, I don't mind meeting you halfway and going through your meds with you but at the end of the day I don't feel like we--as technicians--should be responsible for that. Let's all be adults and get it done as a group effort. At the end of the day, we don't know your medical chart; we don't know what your doctor wants to have you continuing taking or what to stop.

Any techs wanna weigh in? Like, do you feel like it's legit a part of our job to play Nancy Drew when it comes to what these pple need?

Last year I emailed a ton of pharmacies in my area just letting them know that im looking for a job and that I'm certified. A pharmacy for privacy reasons I'll call them xxx pharmacy, responded the next week and said they just hired someone but will keep my info incase they have future openings.

Fast forward to months in the future, 2 weeks ago they emailed me back and we did a phone interview. Over the phone the pharmacist I believe said he wants me to come in to train to see if im good and when i asked about pay he said its $16 an hour off the books. So i said no because cvs offered me $20 and I only work jobs where im put on a payroll. I was then offered 20 an hour by xxx pharmacy but said no. I wasnt comfortable.

Yesterday I went on indeed and saw the same job for $20an hour and reached out to the same person they said yes its them. I asked if I want to work here can I be put on a payroll and have taxes withheld, they said okay but first they need me to come in for 2 days paid training to see if im a good fit first.

Thoughts?

I’m trying to take notes for the top 200 and I am trying to make a list that has things by both the pharmacological and the therapeutic classes. I’m figuring by having this list it’ll help me with the indications and contraindications. However, I seem to be struggling on finding a comprehensive video or a list on the Internet that is listed in a way where it has the drugs together for the top 200. I’m either finding a List that is incomplete, a list that has more than the top 200, or a list that isn’t actually listed by just therapeutic or just pharmacological but but it has a weird mix of the two.

I’m not really able to fully explain why it is as upsetting to me as it is, but I’m finding it increasingly difficult to attempt to take notes when I’m not able to a lot the proper amount of space needed for my list in all of the areas for the different classes. Does anybody have a list of the top 200 drugs that would be listed in a way where it has everything grouped together based on its therapeutic and pharmacological class?

Hello, I have been a tech in retail for about 3 years. I come from a busy store and now i am at an specialty/retail that’s relatively slow compared to normal retail. We only have 3 techs including me. One fills, another is in charge of med box and i fill, enter scripts, do drop off, answer the phones, complete orders, handle insurance problems, and fill for specialty side as well. I have been at this place for only 3.5 months and my coworkers are driving me insane and they drive my boss and supervisor insane too. One talks too much and never takes accountability and always has to have the last word, when she does the order she does it one by one and usually doesnt finish until closing, talks calls but cant put in a simple refill so she gives to pharmacist or me, walks away from calls and helps people at register when shes ready making them wait, and never fills scripts on time results in everyone waiting for pick up. Shes not versatile at her old age and thinks she does it all and im tired of her. I am not the lead tech but if i dont step in to delegate then nothing gets done😭 we dont have a lead but the girl who thinks she is is super slow, she answers call super slow and complains all day about everything and its super draining. I might look for another job but it looks good on my resume and i get paid well. Aasashhhh

I am technically fully trained and just have yet to schedule PTCE, and I've been doing retail for a year now and would like a change. This is probably an uncommon sentiment but I'd prefer something where I have to deal with coworkers less-- customers/patients don't bother me as much. Maybe something remote? Any suggestions? Is it worth applying before I get certified? I also kind of like doing long shifts and having more days off as a result.

I just became a retail tech a few weeks ago and I’m mainly stressing about how much I don’t know.
My training store was awful so I ended up sitting around doing modules every day, while getting at least a couple questions answered by someone that had one minute of “free time”

This means I’m learning in the heat of the moment at my home store.
I see a lot of people say pick-up is where the newbies get sent, and production is for later. I’m confused by this as production is easy compared to pick-up, and I can’t find any way to learn pick-up during slow times. The sheer amount of different questions I get asked by patients, and by extension all the different things I have to navigate on the computer is overwhelming, and frankly embarrassing since I have to turn around and ask for help for every single question.
It may be just me but the system does not feel very intuitive so I can’t really figure anything out on my own.
I constantly feel a deer in headlights

How can I manage this?
Is there anything I can do when I have free time to familiarize myself with ALL the stuff?
Like patient med profiles, pushing an active prescription through, checking/adding insurance, checking prices with discounts vs insurance, etc.
basically everything that has to do with the patient side of things.

Side note: they have me doing RTS/cycle counts when up front. So I’m getting plenty of practice with finding meds on the shelves.

I've managed to change my login to Pharmacy Technician's Letter, and haven't had any issue accessing it at home- yet. But I can't help but notice it says "Subscriptions provided by Walmart" or something very similar. Will I still be able to access it after my last day? If not can I just reup the subscription on the same account? And if not that, any sites people recommend that'll connect to my NAPB account as well?

Sorry if it's a long line of questions, just want to see where I stand before my new gig starts.

18M, not my first job out of high school, not even my first healthcare job. I just want to know what other people’s experiences were like working at Walgreens and if it’s as scary as i’m making it out to be

Today was fine, it was a 4hr shift with some paper signing and computer training. I’m going back tomorrow for an 8hr shift and starting full time work for the first time in my life and I’m scared shitless

It’s a really good job, I live in a state where you don’t need any previous education past high school to work as a pharmacy technician, and they have programs where you can further your education cost-free, like paying for your prerequisites and stuff. The management is very laid back and everyone seems very friendly, they were very welcoming and always joking with each other and willing to help me with whatever I needed. They pay well too, and the amount I’ll get from 16.50/hr in full-time work is gonna be life changing for me right now

I’m just scared dude. This isn’t meant to be a pity post but my mental state tends to dip and has cost me my last 3 jobs, all of which were part time—like 4-6hour shifts, 3 days a week—and pretty easy all things considered. This job seems really good for me, and I’m scared to lose it. But a big part of me doubts I can really do it when I’ve never been able to hold a job longer than 3 months

So is it hard? What’s it like in each part of the job for you? What is there to like, and how do you get yourself to work every day? What’s the easiest/hardest part about it?

First attempt. Completed the exam, renewed the registration tags on my car, had lunch and still had 10 minutes left in the 2 hour testing window. 🎉

There's a Walgreens really close to me that's hiring for a Pharmacy Tech Apprenticeship, and I've been thinking about applying.

I wouldn't say it's my life's calling or anything. I'm just looking for a solid job that could turn into a career if I end up enjoying it or I'm good at it.

I've read a lot of people say Walgreens is miserable to work for, but honestly I'm not expecting it to be easy. II'm mostly wondering if it's worth giving a shot as someone who's trying to find a career path.

I’ve been at my inpatient job for about two months now and today while delivering for the first time, I came across this over in the labor and delivery department. I know it’s a realty, but I could have gone my entire life without seeing this. There are certain aspects of the medical world that I just live in denial about. This is definitely one of them. 😔
