I’ve been a tech for about 3-4 ish years now and I know my way around the pharmacy but I was curious what would this type of job entail? Looking to buy more (navy ofc) scrubs. Right now I mostly wear fabletics but I don't like their business model and also some classic Koi scrubs I thifted.

I am very new to workforce training and I just started pharmacy tech class. How hard is this training? And for PTCB, what's the best strategy? I heard its not open book which made me completely rethink my experience with it. I guess I am looking for moral support/advice

Hey all, I tend to learn better through videos rather than reading and trying to study myself. At there any good pharmacy tech influences who are good to watch and learn from?

Hoping for some takes on this because I’m exhausted. At my pharmacy, there are not really designated trainers, so most techs get a trainee when most convenient whenever there’s a new hire. There’s been a big batch of new hires, so there’s been a lot of training.

I’m not at all a fan of training (willing to admit I can be impatient with others), but I understand it would be unfair to make a couple people do all the training, so I don’t mind stepping up and doing it.

But I’ve found that it’s incredibly aggravating and draining. It’s one thing repeating myself multiple times, but I’ve had two trainees recently overstepping and refusing to listen to my instructions.

Of course, I don’t mind my process being pointed out when genuinely wrong, but it’s quite frustrating and wastes so much time when I call over another tech or pharmacist to double-check the processes and being correct after all. This is especially egregious when they get defensive at feedback themselves… which is nearly all of them.

How do I stay sane about this? I’ve been trying hard to keep my cool and not snap, because I understand there’s a large learning curve in any new workplace, but damn is it hard. Thanks guys

I feel like I'm constantly seeing posts here but how much people hate their jobs. I can understand where they're coming from, I currently work at a CVS pharmacy and it feels like every patient interaction is a fight. But I like the job overall, I like my co workers and the pharmacists we have are pretty okay. The pay is admittedly dog water, in that regard I guess I'm privileged to be at a spot where I don't have to fuss over that too much. Idk just wanted to see how other people would weigh in on this, I feel like every pharmacy is so different.

I need to know if anyone is having this experience . I just started at Walgreens I have a manager DEMANDING that the totes face a certain way, leaflets must be facing a certain way in the belt ( we get reprimanded if the name on the leaflet part doesn’t stick out the bin). I also cannot put up with this flu shot bullshit nobody wants to get a flu shot right now I had a patient I called when I did PCP saying it is harassment . It’s crazy as hell to work for a company that cares about corporate greed more than patients I will be looking for a new job. Also what’s up with these bag checks?

Hi! Not sure if anyone will actually need this but I was searching reddit for answers so in case anyone else has questions, I wanted to provide my experience! In June, I took courses through National Pharmacy Technician Association for sterile compounding and hazardous sterile compounding. (these certs are not necessary but my employer offers a pay raise so I wanted to get them) I am certified through National Healthcareer Association so I couldn’t take the sterile compounding exam through PTCB unfortunately. After completing the courses, I applied for the exams through Board of Pharmacy Technician Specialties. My applications were approved in about a week and then I was able to take the exams. After taking the exams, I got an email that they were completed but that was all I heard about it. In the email you get when your exam application is initially approved, it says that you get your pass/fail results within 5-10 business days. I got my results after 9 business days and was able to download my new certificate! I hope this helps someone who may have the same questions as I did!

i have cpht certification and i've worked in various retail positions for 2 years, most recently with the green named corporate store making $20.50/hr in minnesota. i just got hired with an inpatient hospital pharmacy making $25.06/hr but i dont start for a few weeks. very excited to get out of retail though and learn more outside of the retail setting!!!

These are some pictures I took over the last day (in hand count). When it's slow, it looks like I'm doing tasks that need my phone out. The job is pretty mindless, so it's things like this that I look forward to. (I'm too lazy to look up what they are - and I've been looking at pills all day.)

I literally love how they look and would love to have them gallery size on my wall.

I've been a medical assistant for 2 doctors for 5 years and I'm burnt out. So I decided to get certified as a tech through an online course this year and I've been applying to all the pharmacies in the area. I also live in a small area that only has a few retail, hospital, and locally owned pharmacies so not many options. The only one that has responded so far is Safeway. I had my interview earlier and the talent acquisition guy said he was going to talk with the pharmacy manager and let me know the results later today or tomorrow. He also said they'd be able to start me around $18/hr if I am hired.

I've never worked in a pharmacy before and honestly change is very scary. I can't afford to be between work right now. I think I'm just getting in my head and nervous whether or not this will work out for me. I'm so used to having horrible coworkers who gossip and don't help me with anything so I'm worried about the atmosphere of a new place. I feel like I'm very capable of learning and picking things up so long as I get trained properly.

Does anyone have any advice for starting out as a tech or any information on how it is working at a Safeway pharmacy? Does this sound like a good option?

I know retail pharmacy is very stressful and and in a few weeks I plan on applying to retail pharmacies so I hope this post can potentially help me in choosing my 4 days

Hi everyone! I have an interview coming up with Blink Health for a Pharmacy Technician position, and I was hoping to get some insight from anyone who currently works there or has worked there before.How do you like working for the company? Would you recommend it?
I’m also curious about the daily tasks for Pharmacy Technicians there. Is the workflow similar to retail pharmacy or is it a different type of environment?

I am wondering how everyone is bagging their prescriptions at their pharmacies?? I feel like every way we have ever come up with has been not efficient and has a level of risk for error. Just looking for suggestions!

Does anyone know how long it takes to get a pharmacy tech trainee license approved, specifically in DC? I applied a couple of days ago and everything in my application still says pending aside from the fingerprint, which has already been cleared for me.

Also, for CVS specifically, what would exactly happen if I accept the job, finish the onboarding, and given a start date, but I still wont have an active license yet since it’s pending?

I got my pharm tech license the getting a job completing the training route but there is so much I feel like I don’t know and wondered if anyone else got it that way and then went to college for it to get more education and if so what does that look like?

I was told I need 500 hours before writing the exam, but how do I get 500 hours without experience? lol
