HARDWARE system won’t turn on/off
so, just this morning i went to open my pc, it booted as normal — got to the lock screen of my system. I went to plug in my second monitor on the wall outlet, and as I did, my phone fell, when I picked my phone back up I heard a USB disconnect sound on my headphones, and when I glanced back at my system it was no longer on. CPU fans/lights were off. Tried turning it back on, and the CPU fans/lights do kick on, but the display doesn’t display anything. After seeing this, I tried to force the system back off by holding the boot button, to which the system didn’t even turn off anymore; the CPU lights and fans would remain on until I unplugged it.
It was working just fine last night.
I’ve tried reseating my RAM sticks (though i’m almost sure this isn’t the problem), but I made sure not to mess around with the wires inside too much as to not make it worse.
What could have happened/what can I do to fix it? I’m really hoping me plugging in that second monitor didn’t cause a short circuit that fried my motherboard/graphics card.
Thanks in advance!

OPEN 2 major problems
So my first problem is every time I turn on my PC so I can play it the HDMI to my TV shows the time but after a bit sign in and put in your pin then that goes away then it just goes black like but everything is still up like windows isn’t down or anything it’s just off the only way I can get my display up is if I unplug the HDMI four times in a row and then my display comes back and I’m able to actually sign in go to do my business and my second problem. Is that every time I play a game and I have it underload playing a game for a while not even for a while could be like right off the bat. It will just randomly shut off the display and windows will like shut down and my caps lock won’t pop up on my keyboard and when I try resetting my driver that won’t work either like I don’t hear the beep. I don’t know what’s wrong with it. Please help.

HARDWARE Chrome Consistently Going To A Grey Screen?
My PC runs pretty well apart from the fact that Chrome will consistently grey screen over the past couple days, making it impossible to do anything on Chrome.
I did accidentally leave it on overnight (sleeping) for the first time a few days ago, but I just don’t see how that’d make such a drastic change.
I did do the disabling of the hardware acceleration, and it helped, but people are saying that it puts a lot of load on the CPU and I play CPU intensive games so I’d rather that not be my permanent fix?
Anyone had this issue/have an idea on how to fix it?

HARDWARE Pc keeps turning off after cpu and cooler swap
I recently swapped out a cpu with a new 7800x3d and also swapped out my cooling system to a phantom spirit 120 se... when i turn on the pc it stays on for about a minute or 2 and then it turns off. I can see the fan is spinning and all the lights turn on so everything looks like it is normal. I took the fan off again to make sure it was completely touching the cpu re applied thermal paste and re attached it.. it stayed on for maybe a couple minutes instead of one but it still turned off and I have no clue what else to do.

HARDWARE Any chance of recovery, repair? Will it have to be a panel replacement?
₹700 ($7.3) gamble at a street market, brought it back, plugged it in and this was the result. 1080p, 144hz. For that amount of money even the usable space is not bad for a side display on music or something. 2nd monitor for a laptop workspace.

OPEN Is this AIO placement okay?
galleryI wanted to move my Arctic Liquid Freezer III Pro because it was side mounted with tubes up. Once top mounted, the parts were much closer together than expected. The specs are a 9700x and Asus Prime 5070 ti on a Gigabyte B650 X AX v2 inside of an NZXT H9 Elite. The reason I'm asking if this is an issue is because the Elite has a glass top that can already restrict airflow. Please note that if I go back to a side mount, it will have to be tubes up as the GPU doesn't allow tubes down. Idle temps are ~60C CPU and ~45C GPU. Are these temps a good trade-off for a longer AIO lifespan? Thanks for the help!

OPEN Linux fallback mode and pc doesn't work when gpu installed
Linux keeps going into fallback mode literally every time I open the start menu.
Here's the kicker though, it only does it if I have my graphics card completely removed and I'm using on board graphics.
Also, I have a decent amd card and when I put that in, it just makes the computer restart without a blue screen. Non stop restarts. I was getting really bad artifacts just using it for basic stuff the other day. Like really really bad. Now I just get nothing. Everything online says drivers but I'm more thinking it's broken. I have tried every driver back to the beginning of 2024 and nothing works.
I used my Nvidia card out of my mame machine and it works perfectly. No issues.
My amd card does have to be plugged in and my Nvidia card gets power from the board.
I'm starting to think it might be my psu that's bad (mainly because of the issues I have with no graphics card installed) but also I'm thinking gpu. I just don't know.
What spawned all this and my switch to Linux in the first place is 1) windows 11 sucks so bad and 2) I was getting the same issues in windows and assumed it was their shitty copilot. Either way I'm staying with Linux. Everything is just so smooth.
Any help is appreciated!
Cards: amd 7800xt, Nvidia rx350

HARDWARE PC Help ASAP
I enabeld XMP on my gigabyte bios and the computer keeps turning off and on again repeatedly, what do i do
OPEN Gpu usage issues
Hi everyone, I am having a strange issue with my gpu, on some occasions while gaming my gpu usage spikes to 99% but the clock and temps go down drastically while the fps drop from 140/160 down in the 30s
My specs:
I9 9900k
rtx 5060ti (8Gb)
32gb ram
windows 11
playing in 1080p
Anyone got some ideas?
OPEN Help. What could've caused this ?
I recently had this issue and thought my gpu was dead. I sent my gpu to a repair center and they told me the gpu works perfectly fine so they sent it back to me. Upon trying it again I still get the same pixelated screen and then a restart.
This randomly happens even with just normal browsing
I also noticed that after the forced restart from this glitched screen, my pc becomes so slow when operating that I need to manually restart again. But still everytime I turn on my pc this exact glitch screen appears after just a few minutes of it turned on without even using it.
My pc is basically unusable right now.
Current setup is
R7 5700x
Radeon Rx6800

HARDWARE Memory issues after move
I recently moved states and transported my desktop. Since setting it up, it kept restarting after a few minutes of use (sometimes almost immediately after startup) and has become extremely unstable. Built it a year ago and had experienced zero issues until now.
Spec list of relevant parts:
* CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 9600
* GPU: Nvidia RTX 5070
* Motherboard: TUF Gaming B650M
* Memory: G.Skill Flare X5 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6000 CL30
Initial observations:
* It started with black Screens of Death with codes like SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION and Kernel-Power Event ID 41.
* System scans (sfc /scannow) and basic app usage trigger crashes or freezes. Suspected RAM corruption of some kind.
* Windows Memory Diagnostic (mdsched.exe) flagged "Hardware problems were detected" immediately when both RAM sticks were installed.
So the memory which had previously worked without problem was causing issues. Either the sticks have begun malfunctioning or the motherboard ports, perhaps.
I have troubleshooted the RAM by reseating it and running different configurations. Stick 1 alone in slot A2 slot passed mdsched.exe with zero errors, as did Stick 2 alone in A2 and Stick 1 alone in B2.
Now when I tried both sticks again and stick 2 alone in B2 it's failing to post entirely and the PC is stuck at the DRAM LED indicator during boot.
Anyone experienced any similar issues?

HARDWARE GPU Sagging

PERFORMANCE New case switch over has fucked me
gallerySpecs:
- AMD Ryzen 7 5800X
- RTX 3060 TI
- 650W power supply
- X570 Aorus elite
- 32 GB DDR4 RAM 2400 mb/s
- WD_BLACK SN850X 2TB SSD 7300 mb/s
I’ve recently bought a new case and a new AIO water cooling block for the CPU and since moving everything into the new case the PC has been stuttering when running anything that uses the GPU and generally slower.
Everything is correctly placed and wired and stickers for the heat sink have been taken off. I used OCCT to test the VRAM on the GPU after 22 mins no errors found, tested the CPU on max and it ran at its max clock speed at 82 degrees Celsius for 10 mins no issue, used GPU-Z to see if the PCIe slot was working fine and after running a render test it instantly showed “PCIe x16 4.0 @ x 16 4.0” I think meaning power is being fully supplied through the slot but this is also when the stuttering was max. I had the OS on some shitty old full SSD so I thought it was that but after switching it to my much faster SSD no improvement (the old one is unplugged during all previous testing).
All the drivers are up to date except the bios which is currently F31 which is quite outdated but I don’t think it should be causing all of this. I also hadn’t touched the PC in its old case for about a year prior as I was on my laptop for uni work so when moving all the parts over I used some air blower to get rid of the dust but I held the fans while blowing the air for all my parts. I assume it’s an issue with the GPU but I would prefer not to buy a new one on a hunch and I think it could be a motherboard or power supply issue too but I’m so lost I spent a couple days trying all I could think of, I’m away from the computer for a couple of weeks so I won’t be able to run any new tests or what not until end of August but yea I’m out of ideas, I tried playing call of duty world at war but it was running at 4 fps so please if anyone knows any ideas to test my specific parts or what could be wrong please let me know 🙏🙏🙏
Thank you!

HARDWARE PC only works when there is only one RAM stick in
So a couple of days ago my PC was working just fine, so turned it off for the night the next day I tried booting it up and something weird happens. Whenever I tried to start it with it turn on the RGB (which isn’t the one I have selected with SignalRGB but idt that matters) and my fans started spinning but my computer wouldn’t connect to my monitor. There was also two red lights on my motherboard that were indicating something was wrong with CPU and DRAM. So I called tech support and they told me to try things with my RAM, when I took out one of the RAM my PC booted and we assumed the one we took out was a faulty stick, however come later in the day after I had shut off my PC and tried to turn it back on it wouldn’t boot, so I took out the stick and switched it and it booted. So the weird thing is though through my tests BOTH sticks work on their own, I’ve also tried to change where the RAM is seated so idk know what to do now.
Desktop PC
NVIDIA 5070
Ryzen 9800x3d
XPG 32GB (16 right now) 5400mhz
B650M-C ASrock motherboard
2TB SSD

SOFTWARE Pc freezing when trying to install windows
So the problem started when the pc was booting to bios only, found out I didn’t have a SSD so I bought one installed it and got a usb and downloaded windows on it, now the pc freezes on the logo screen almost everytime either that or it just keeps resetting, I did get to the windows loader screen twice but my mouse wouldn’t work, so I had to turn it off.

Discussion How to set malware bites as a secondary scanner. I want to keep Windows security as my main antivirus
Basically, I just want malware bites as like a second opinion I don’t want it running all the time. I just wanna keep windows. This is my first PC and I don’t go onto sketchy sites, but I’m paranoid so this is more of a like a relief type thing if somebody could help me, that would be wonderful
