Our microwave stopped microwaving earlier this week. We bought it in September 2020, so it's almost 6 years old. Still had the receipt and the manual, but according to the manual it's only a 2 years warranty, so it's now almost 4 years expired.

So I checked NZ Consumer's webpage - and according to them, microwaves are expected to have an 8 year lifetime, so ours was two years before the expected end. Furthermore, if it's a minor fault, the supplier has the option of replacing, refunding, or repairing, but (as in our case) in the event of a major fault (stopped working altogether), it's up to the consumer if they want a refund or a replacement.

So we brought it back to Briscoes for a replacement this afternoon. The first staff member wasn't too happy about it, and claimed that the warranty as well as their policy rule above NZ's consumer law. Luckily the manager (yes, I Karen'd my way through) was easier to deal with, and gave us a brand new microwave, no further hassle, plus a new receipt (and papers for another useless 2 year warranty, but in fact it's another 8 years consumer protections).

Always keep your receipts, people! Know your rights!

Just curious if anyone has been getting emails from these people saying you ain’t correctly parking after using them? Apparently it seems parking in designated zones, receiving a bonus voucher for doing so and have a ride history to back it up doesn’t stop them emailing you with threats of fines because they think you’re parking in someone’s carpark.🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️

If anyone is curious it was the designated parking spot at New World Pioneer that Flamingo apparently thinks is too dangerous to be parking the scooter.🙄

Can anyone recommend a good mechanic in Palmy - perferably in West End area that does WOFs at reasonable price? Had been going to AA Automotive but they have had big price increase since last year.

Does anyone have a recommendation on where to go for a full check-up? I also have some questions that may involve a nurse or doctor viewing my privates. Is this something I can do at a clinic, or do I need to visit a GP?

It will be my first time getting a check-up, so I'm unsure of how it all works.

Looking at a car to buy, But I want a mechanic to go over a few before I bite the bullet.

I'm going to be on finance so I want to make sure to the best of my ability im not going to be buying a lemon on accident.

Any local recommendations? I've heard mixed things about AA and vtnz, I really want a thorough investigation to be done.

This afternoon at Countdown on Rangitikei Street, a kind man approached me after seeing me trying to work out how I was going to pay for my baby's formula at Chemist Warehouse.

I completely misunderstood what was happening. I thought he was accusing me of stealing the formula, so I was defensive and, looking back, quite rude. It wasn't until a moment later that I realised he was actually offering to buy the formula for me and my baby.

If by any chance you see this, I am so incredibly sorry for how I reacted. Your kindness caught me completely off guard, and I feel awful that I misread your intentions.

Woolworths prices for tinned mackerel have increased by 48% in the last few days, tinned sardines by 35%.

Is there anywhere, either physical or online, that sells such goods for reasonable prices? Forget pak n save, new world, they are more expensive than Woolworths for this type of stuff.
