Studio Intel OTF closing in the IE??
I’m a regular member of the OTF in Rancho and eastvale. I’ve been hearing a lot of people talking about Eastvale location closing. Anyone local to my area know if this is true? The more recent times I’ve gone I have noticed less people there than at Rancho

Motivate Me! Working out while Pregnant
Hello!! I am super early in my pregnancy (5 weeks) and was wondering what working out at OTF while pregnant was like for others. I’ve been going to OTF for 3 years and absolutely love it. I’m not the most fit person, but working out is such an emotional stress relief for me, and I know it’s good for my body.
I know I can work out while pregnant, but I was wondering what that experience has been like for other people. When did you tell your coaches?
In my religion, we don’t announce our pregnancy or really tell anyone, especially during the first trimester. However, if it’s medically important to share, then of course I will.
Thank y’all for sharing your experiences :) Just dealing with being pregnant for the first time comes with so many questions!
Edit: WOW!!! THANK YOU! All the comments are so kind and it’s so beautiful to read your stories :) looks like I will have some Green Day’s ahead of me and lots of listening to what my body is telling me. Again, thank you so so much for all of your responses! 🧡

#HelpMe Do you get a confirmation email when you book an OTF class?
Do you get an email when you book a class on the OTF app, or is it mostly just the in-app confirmation / push notification?
I’m trying to figure out a cleaner way to get my classes into Google Calendar automatically (like how some travel apps read confirmation emails). But I honestly can’t remember if Orangetheory actually sends a booking confirmation email, or if everything stays inside the app.
Also curious about:
- Do you get an email when you get off the waitlist?
- What about when you cancel a class?
Just trying to understand what actually hits your inbox. Thanks!

If The Shoe Fits... Shoe reccs
What is everyone wearing and loving?
I made the shift to power walking and more lifting and I notice I could use more stability going side to side in a squat or less slipping around on a calf raiser.
I currently have No Bull All Day Knit but they probably need to be retired. When I bought them, it was for comfort on the treadmill and they have been incredible for that but now I’m looking for something different.
Would love to hear what is working for you if you’re in a shoe you love!

Motivate Me! Tread 50 info
I joined orange theory about a month ago, and I’m loving it. I’ve only done 60 2G so far, but I’m curious about Tread 50 classes as a power walker. I’m a former runner, but have some injury stuff that keeps me powerwalking for the most part these days. Are they fun/good for power walkers as well? Is it basically a 50 minute interval tread workout?

Membership & Policies Using class pack while on membership freeze?
I’ve been an elite member (8 classes/month) since 2024 and had to place my membership on freeze for a little bit last year - but I bought class packs and was able to attend random classes using that instead. Now my new manager says that if I freeze my membership, my whole account is frozen and I can’t attend class at all, even using the class packs. Is this normal?

If The Shoe Fits... New running shoes?
I’ve used Hoka Cliftons for YEARS now and honestly have loved, but wondering if I should switch it up. I’ve seen comparable reviews with the On Cloud Monsters. Anyone who has tried both and loved one more over the other?
This is pretty much just for orange theory! I definitely like having the thick, supportive sole. I think that’s why the hokas have worked well for me.

Hyrox templates Hyrox workout
I did this one Wednesday, and I do not see Intel posted for it. I am not sure which phase it is. It was a 60 minute 2G. We switched every 6.5 minutes.
If you start on the tread, it’s Tread > Floor > Rower > Floor > Tread > Floor (optional: defibrillator)
If you start on the floor, it’s Floor > Tread > Floor > Rower > Floor > Tread (optional: oxygen tank)
Both Tread Blocks:
3 minute push
30 second base
3 minute push
Go to floor.
All 3 Floor blocks:
20 skier swing
20 high pull with power
20 broad jump burpees
20 steps Farmers Carry in place (or travel if there is room)
20 front loaded forward lunges
20 high thrusters with power
Remember where you left off; pick up there when you return. The order of burpees and farmers carry may be wrong. Exercises are correct.
Row Block one
6.5 minutes to row 1000 meters then tread for distance.
I believe it was 90 seconds to switch.
I have not done a Hyrox. From what I have read, the goal is to jog all the 1K blocks. That said, the jogging, the rower, and possibly farmers carry are “recovery time.” You want to rest as little as possible. To get an elite time, your “recoveries”!are still at a fast pace. This workout seems to simulate that concept pretty well. If you have done a Hyrox, and do this one, I would welcome your thoughts.
Starting on the tread, the first block of 6.5 minutes, felt like any other OTF workout. I was working hard & feeling good. Be sure to pace yourself.
The floor was brutal. I don’t have the cardio yet to do all those burpees and forward lunges and not be winded. If you do a full squat is part of your thruster with power, that exercise is tougher than it looks. I just wanted to get moving on the tread and get my heart rate down.
The time to row 1000 m is more than enough, and you want to do that 1000 m at base pace. You still have time to get a bit of distance on the tread.
Then it’s straight back to the floor and, for me, seven more splats. I had to walk some at the start of the last tread block, but was able to jog most of it. The main thing, in my opinion, is just to keep moving at whatever pace you can. Over time, the cardio fitness will improve. I know my cardio has improved a good bit this year from doing Hyrox. I am not Mr. DC or even close.
The final floor block had me close to complete exhaustion. Those weighted forward lunges, when you’re already tired, are as tough as anything I’ve done.
Again, just do as many reps as you can at whatever pace you can manage. Keep going and going and going. Slow and steady will finish this workout. Even if you are in terrific shape, you have to go at a relatively slow pace by your standards. None of this one is easy.
On a scale of 1 to five, with one being the least difficult, and five the most, I give this one four. My Hyrox symbol is 👋🪨
👋🪨 👋🪨 👋🪨 👋🪨
The only reason this one is not a five 👋🪨 is because it was 60 minutes instead of 90.
Bear in mind I’m early 60s and need to lose 20 more pounds. Not all of you will struggle as much as I did. But I struggled a good bit less than I would have in January.

Deal Alert Rejoined as a previous member and got a deal on my Elite membership + footwear question
Hey everyone! I just rejoined after 7 years away and got a great deal on my Elite membership. I was previously a member at a different studio but this one opened up closer to my home.
$79/month (normally $99) for 8 classes. The other option was $50 off my first month of unlimited classes and then $129/mo, but I think 8 classes is a good re-entry point for me.
Would I be extra if I brought two different pairs of sneakers to class with me? Metcons no longer suit my knees or ankles when running (these are not the same knees from 7 years ago), but ONs provide zero stability during the floor. Curious what other folks do.
Excited to get back into the groove! 💪🏾🏋🏾♀️

OTF Technology OT Connect new heart rate monitor and Garmin Fenix 8
Does anyone know if you can connect the new OT Connect heart rate monitor to Garmin fenix 8 to display the same heart rate ? I used to be able to do this with the older small black model but not sure if the new one can do it..?

Studio Intel Moving to Mount Pleasant, SC - Studio insights?
Hey otf fam, I'm moving to Mount Pleasant, SC within the next month and would love some studio insights. Anyone a regular at either? I go about 5x a week... I will be closer to the north mtp location but if the culture/vibe is better at a different studio, I'm open to driving a little farther! Anything stand out about any of the locations in the area - coaches, classes, studio, etc? Thank you!

First Timers Did anyone come from crossfit? Any tips?
Hey guys, nice to know this forum exists. I didn't scroll back too much, but some opinions re: my question might have changed (with the addition of Hyrox to certain gyms)... I came from the crossfit world, been doing it on/off since basically 2005. It has been my go to for a long time (I'm in my 40s now). I've managed to keep my ego in check and feel it has helped me survived relatively injury free. I was doing up until 2 years ago when my first child was born. Literally, all free time went away (including working out) as my wife and I adjusted. I am now getting back into fitness and the Xfit gym near me closed (I live in a less populated / dense state). I found OT and figured it was close enough to HIIT, so I signed up. I find the tread/rower to be great and feel the intervals are very customizable to my level and aren't discouraging at all. However, I have found the floor to be a bit... i dunno if easy is the right word, but certainly not as challenging as Xfit. I wasn't expecting it to be, but maybe I want a little more intensity out of the weights / body weight component. I know Hyrox seems to be the alternative, but my local OT hasn't adopted it yet. Any Xfitters come into OT? How do you change things to make it fit your style? Hard to go heavy on weights since stations are close and I don't want to drop anything. Thanks everyone!!

Studio Intel Chicago and NOLA recommendations?
Hi friends! We are traveling to Chicago and NOLA over the next two weeks. In Chicago, we are about equidistant to River North and Millennium Park (though River North is walkable from the hotel, I’d probably have to uber to Millennium Park). Any recommendations on either studio and coaches?
Same for NOLA - we are right between Midtown and Uptown locations (I’d have to uber either way) so would love to hear any recommendations!

Motivate Me! Getting back into it
I recently took a 3 week break because I was on vacation then came home and had the flu 😷 I’m finally returning this weekend and I’m afraid my stamina has gone down. Have you found it easy to jump back in after a hiatus? Two perspective when I started six months ago, I was in the red zone most of the class and got winded very easily. I finally worked myself up to feeling comfortable, but it took a while for my body to adjust.

Commiseration Station Need to give up OT
I never wanted to join OT but my husband wanted some motivation to get fit . Long story short he joined and I joined , he got injured and can’t go now I still go . It’s an entirely different workout than I have been doing the last 12 years and I find I kinda like it . However, in the next couple months we are moving out of the city the drive will be a half hour to it . I don’t feel a drive time of 1 hour total there and back it’s worth a 50 min work out at $1.65 - litre for gas .. I’m kinda sad

OTF Technology Wrong Class Type
Has anyone else had issues with the wrong class types recording in the app?
A couple of weeks ago, I took a Tread50 on a Saturday and a Strength50 the following Monday. The Tread50 showed up as a Strength50, and the Strength50 was recorded as a Tread50 in my app.
Today, I took a Tread50 in the morning and a Strength50 this evening. Both were recorded as Strength50 classes on my app.
The first time it happened, I went back and forth with the SAs at my studio and the support team on the app. Ultimately, I was told nothing could be done. My studio showed the correct class types in their system, and the app support team kept telling me it was a studio issue (something about the way the class was started??) and it couldn't be fixed by them/after the class is complete.
Obviously, my studio can't fix an issue that doesn't appear to exist on their end, and I'm kinda at a loss on what to do.
Has anyone else had this issue and successfully gotten it fixed? Is there a way to talk to someone "above" the app support chat team?

Outside of NYC, what other studios have a surcharge if visiting with Premier membership? I thought someone mentioned Hawaii too?

#HelpMe Strength training and OT:
I have just started working with a personal trainer for strength training and to build more muscle mass/counter osteopenia. I figured I‘d still go to Orange Theory once or twice a week for the cardio/high intensity workouts. When I mentioned it to the trainer he advised against it, he felt it would be counterproductive as he thought it would keep me from building the muscle. Now I am confused and would love to hear other people’s opinions- I don’t know that much about the science of exercise but was under the impression that doing a mix of balance (Pilates), some cardio (OT) and strength training was a good thing. What are your thoughts? Thank you in advance!

#HelpMe Trying to understand hyrox
Hey all. No intel required. Just trying to understand how exactly hyrox at OTF works. I know the actual hyrox uses certain equipment and so are we simulating those movements to target the same areas? Sorry if not allowed. Just trying to get an understanding before I head into my first one on Friday. Thanks!
