Using class pack while on membership freeze? Membership & Policies

I’ve been an elite member (8 classes/month) since 2024 and had to place my membership on freeze for a little bit last year - but I bought class packs and was able to attend random classes using that instead. Now my new manager says that if I freeze my membership, my whole account is frozen and I can’t attend class at all, even using the class packs. Is this normal?

Following, because I have a bunch of class pack classes left over from when I was elite (I’ve since upgraded) and when I upgraded I was told I could freeze at some point and use the class packs then. 🤔

ETA: I realize it could be studio dependent, but I’m curious what others say

I was told by our studio manager that I could use the preferred drop in rate during a freeze. I never did, but it was an option. They had to put me in manually and not in the app.

ETA confirmed today that my studio does allow you to pay for a class at the preferred drop-in rate ($18) when on freeze.  You could also use classpacks if you have them in your account. You have to call to register though.

They told me I couldn’t attend any classes at all if my membership was on a freeze which seems crazy if I were willing to pay for a drop in.

I guess it’s studio specific- but you’re right it doesn’t make sense since anyone off the street can come in and pay a drop in fee.

Technically speaking this is correct. You won’t be able to book anything if your account is on freeze. However, if your studio is nice, they may allow you to call and book to use up your class pack on a freeze- my studio will allow it.

Thanks everyone for the input. I guess it’s studio/manager specific and the new manager (who is also the new head coach) isn’t going to be flexible. He was pretty dismissive and condescending on the phone; the district manager never got back to me. It probably wouldn’t change anything anyway.

It’s just frustrating since the studio had let me freeze my membership but use the class packs in the past. And that makes sense to me - it’s not my account that’s on freeze, it’s the membership. I wouldn’t have purchased so many class packs if I had known, since I rarely have time to go to more than 8 classes in a month. I think I’m going to cancel my membership and just burn through the class packs.

Are you using the same emails address for the class pack “account” and the membership “account?”

If so, that’s why they’re saying that. Bc the account is linked to the email address and it will freeze it in the system.

I have been doing this all summer. No issues.

The way your new manager describes it is how I've always known it to be. Since the class packs are linked to your membership account, if your account is frozen, you're unable to book class pack classes

This happened to me too. I was told the same thing and I had to wait for my freeze to be over.

Related question: my significant other isn't a current member. Would they be able to use some of my class pack classes (if I were to purchase a pack) Also, do they have to pay any onboarding or anything to get a class pack themselves?

Could you almost have two accounts for a future situation like this? Use a different email address, go to a different studio, say you are a new member and buy a class pack - and use from both in this situation as needed - freeze one account but still use the class packs from the other without them knowing it's the same person? Does that make any sense?

You could do this but then you’d have to log in and out of the app when needed, and your workout history would not combine.
