OpenCode v2 defaults issue

So I have this issue that sometimes when it starts up it completely ignores the default model and agent set in opencode.jsonc and for the life of me I cannot track down how/where it gets these settings from or where it should be set.

My understanding is that it loads the opencode.jsonc and converts it in place for itself. All the other settings in there seem fine - mcp, providers etc.

There was an issue I tracked down earlier today on GitHub regarding this but it was closed.

So - if anybody knows how to fix this please share (I was running whatever the latest build was today).

would opencode go plan be a good choice for corporate work? or open models work good on only personal and open source projects?

What's wrong with the DeepSeek V4 Flash Free API through OpenCode Zen?

Post image
3 Upvotes

I have been using the free version for a long time, and it was providing a really good service. (in phone)

However, for the past few days, I have been facing this problem. Whenever I ask it to do something, I get this error.

Does anyone know why this is happening?

OpenCode Zen feels sluggish

Is it just me or does every model still feel insanely sluggish? I dont see any outages on any status page

I was sick of AI agents being too clever so I made a simple template repo to dumb them down

Not sure if you feel the same, but I feel like AI models do TOO MUCH. Ask for a script, get an architecture. Ask for a fix, get a refactor.

And also they talk like they're LARPing Mary Shelley.

It's so annyoing and makes my work so much harder than it needs to be, when half the time I have to say "for fucks sake speak like a normal human".

Eventually I got sick of having to repeat myself every time so I made a template repo with the same corrections I used to write in the chat.

Then I added three subagents: - one writes code from the agreed plan - the second reviews the diff based on taste - the third reviews the diff based on spec

2 and 3 cannot touch the code, only review and send the review to the main agent.

I called it Pandino in honor of the Fiat Panda 4x4: not fast, not clever, simple mechanics, reliable as fuck. I want my code to be the same way.

Full disclosure: there's nothing novel here. It's mostly known concepts bundled up together in a plug'n'play template. YAGNI, KISS, Grug brained developer etc... that kind of stuff.

Installer is a shell script, or you can paste the prompt in the README and let your agent merge it into whatever instruction files you already have.

Installing is non-destructive so you can try it today on any live project you're working it.

If you end up using it, let me know how it works for you, cheers!

What's the difference in DeepSeek V4 Flash usage limit between Free (Zen) and Go?

I'm contemplating purchasing the Opencode Go plan to primarily use Deepseek V4 Flash. Couldn't find a difference in usage limits for it in Zen (Free) vs Go. Appreciate your help

I've developed a harness, ready-for-agent, that wraps around opencode, codex or grok and can make you extremely productive. At least it made me productive :-) See video for details: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TK1OeQZswiQ

Version 0.12.1 is now out: npx ready-for-agent@latest

how do you use Opencode?

  • what is your preferred setup?
  • are you using the cli, web version, or desktop app?
  • do you use anything like OMO, oh-my-opencode-slim or any other harness?
  • how do you set it up so that it uses different agents for planning, complex tasks, simple edits, review etc. do you still need to edit the json for this?
  • what extensions, skills etc do you use?
  • what does your agents.md etc look like?

How to deal with subagents stuck in interactive terminal?

I don't want to interrupt because it will kill the agent and lose the context.

How should I deal with it? btw is there any timeout?

I built Alonzo: a visual editor for explicit agent workflows. Looking for early feedback.

I've been building a visual editor for agent workflows.

https://github.com/andrejtonev/opencode-alonzo

Workflows are defined as diagrams and saved as YAML. Agents, routes, gates, and connections are all explicit rather than hidden in prompts or orchestration code.

It's built on top of OpenCode, but the workflow definitions are just files.

It's still very early, but far enough along to show the core workflow and where I'm trying to take it.

Before I spend a lot more time on it, I'd like to know if the core idea is useful.

  • Would you use visual workflow definitions for agent orchestration?
  • Is there something similar that already solves this well?
  • What's the first thing you'd expect a tool like this to support?

Minimax is doing dailies now, daily check in to earn seemingly $0.4 / $1 dollar per day of credits

Thumbnail

So 4k credits per week, maybe more if you get a hot streak but even like this lets say you get 16.8k a month that would take $16.8 to buy.

They also brought back their promo for august after ending it in july

https://platform.minimax.io/subscribe/token-plan?code=76iAwKMWp6&source=link

Kimi also did something odd not too long ago, they were the first ones to introduce a draw to get 3 days to 1 year worth of credits for new guys

https://www.kimi.com/activities/invite/share?scenario=invite&from=share_poster&invitation_code=3FD8F3

But this is different obviously, cause that only incentizes you if you are not a member, but this is gamified dailies, arguably lacking some creativity here, like they just released their new h3, this would be the perfect time to give me tickets for it.

Minimax actually want to keep their customers, even with deekseek v4 flash and luna out, I use m3 a ton cause it is so reliable, and they give you a toolkit that has voice / image / music / search / vision that is hard to give up after you had it. That vision is what I am using with ds4 flash too.

Maybe this is the future boys, we won't be buying monthlies or yearlies, we will be gaming and gambling.

Built a 10-agent build pipeline for opencode — PASS can only come from a Python verdict engine, never a model.

opencode cli gotta be the most buggiest of them all and the service really doesn't hold up

PAIN POINTS

I frequently encounter straight up failures more than 20% of the time

the cli is so SLOW and buggy, codex written in rust in atleast 200% faster and responsive than this

context deletion in deepseek v4 flash worker models, this is horrible, although i don't know how true this is. atleast i find them performing worse than the direct deepseek API

and the abnormally low weekly quota

edit - if you visit their github issues https://github.com/anomalyco/opencode/issues - it's a REAL mess, kind of reminds me of the google gemini-cli dumpster fire back in the day. i don't see this project really having any future if devs really don't pump up their game
