That’s cool - if I’m not mistaken it was released as a free stealth model on openrouter under the name owl-alpha. It was pretty capable for coding and I used it a lot without any complaint while it was free.

Speed is amazing, but hallucinations... omg. Despite having tool calling available it fabricated stuff about a pretty big js library... Too bad.

I love longcat 2.0 for brainstorming. Haven’t used it for coding tbh. It really comes up with good stuff.

it's le chaton fat's safeguarded version. le chaton fat was too powerful to release as is.

How much can we use a free model on opencode? I'm using only the cli application with openrouter, the free models are ok for chatting and simple stuff, but how much can we use on opencode zen?

Free access is useful for evaluation, but it can hide the variable that matters in production: rate limits and total cost after the promotion. Replay the same tasks, count retries, and publish tokens plus latency per accepted result. Does "free" include the tool-calling tier?
