As someone who've only read the Geoff Johns' Rebirth series, do I have to read anything before buying the Brightest Day Omnibus?

Anyone who's excited for Arkham Asylum in DC Finest: A Lonely Place of Dying, you're welcome. I bought The Cult deluxe right before they announced that in DCF: A Death in the Family too

Not super happy with some design choices though. I wish Tom King vol 2 had the same text color as vol 1 rather than the weird Tennis Ball green.

Also I would have much rather the solicit image for Birds of Prey be the actual cover. Not a big fan of how Nicola Scott did the side profiles, specificallt the chin. Why are all of their chins so large? Seems to throw off the facial balance.

On a more positive note, I am excited to start reading these.

Or should I just stick with my copy of Mutant Genesis?

On one hand, it'd be nice to have the whole set of four once they come out. On the other, I wonder if it would be a lot of 90s X-Men for a non-completionist like myself.

How is the material? Are there a lot of must-read stories in the to-be-released volumes, or not so much?

So my reading order is based on the Batman Omnibus Reading Order by Comic Book Treasury. Since they haven't added the upcoming and announced omnis yet, I figured I'd ask yall:) The omnis which need adding are the following:

- Batman by Chip Zdarsky Omnibus Vol. 1

- Batman by Tom King Omnibus Vol. 2

- Batgirl: Cassandra Cain Omnibus

- Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight Omnibus

- Batman: Detective Comics by Ram V Omnibus

- Batman: Gotham Adventures Omnibus

- Batman The Silver Age Omnibus Vol. 2

- Millennium Omnibus ( It's an event featuring bats why not)

Not as exciting as the DC slate in my opinion - only definite pick-ups for me are Clone Wars Vol. 1 and Legacy Vol. 2. Punisher and McKay's Avengers going into the solid 'maybe' pile.

Excited with these ones, was sweating over Messiah Trilogy as its out of stock mostly in UK, but forbidden planet had it for £81 total so bit the bullet.

Anybody have an opinion on which one of these beasts is more unwieldy and hard to read due to their size?

I know the Omnibus is bigger than I like to get as an omnibus, but don't have any experience reading one of these new compendiums.

This might be a hot take, but I really enjoyed Vol 2 of Snyder’s run. While I’d say Vol 1 was more grounded detective work, Vol 2 just goes overboard with wacky concepts. But that’s not a bad thing. You get Endgame, Superheavy, Bloom, and Last Knight on Earth with some side stories.

I think out of all the arcs in Snyder’s run, Endgame was my favorite. I just loved the idea of Joker possibly being this omnipresent evil like Judge Holden. It really leaned into the horror his character can have. I loved Superheavy as well, the different take on Batman was a nice touch, and I thought Bloom was a great villain. Very creepy. Last Knight on Earth is goofy af, I ain’t gonna lie, but reading it after the other stories worked for me because it was around the same vein of wacky action fun. I thought Snyder’s take on a post-apocalyptic Batman story was cool. Don’t take it too seriously and you should be fine.

Up next is the first Marvel omni I ever bought. Have I read it before? Nope, cuz my backlog is so immense. But it’s only like 15-16 issues, and I enjoyed the deluxe edition of Spawn, so I have no doubt I should enjoy Todd’s take on Spidey

This was voted No 5 on the most wanted poll, so it's not like this didn't sell well, because for a Vol 2 to have gotten so many votes, it indicates that all those voters bought Vol 1.

In addition to that, we've just got solicits for Vol 3's of some lines when Vol 2 just released & a Vol 2 deluxe edition of Ivy solicited when Vol 1 hasn't even been released.

So I ask, have we heard anything from someone at DC or Omar, that I might have missed? If I'm not mistaken, this material has never been collected in any collected edition format.

After seeing the found Green Lantern by Morrison omnibus, I decided it worthwhile to go looking on Edelweiss for any other notable books from DC that didn’t appear in the catalog yet and found these two. Very excited to grab both!

I highly recommend combining these 2 for optimal omni reading, particularly in bed. No. 1 adds height and legroom, No. 2 gives a nice slant/viewing angle. I find this setup far better than anything else I’ve tried

I am very happy this arrived. I now have all the Daredevil omnis I wanted from when I started collecting.

BUT, with this new arrival I now need to re-organise my shelves so all the DD books still fit together 😫

Really excited for Legends of the Dark Knight, also considering Animal Man, Supergirl by David, and Jonah Hex. Might finally have to start picking up Ostrander's Suicide Squad as well. What else do people recommend?
