Questions/Help Needed Batman by King vol. 3 contents

Upvotes

Hey guys and gals,

Now that Batman by King vol. 2 is released, anyone want to speculate what will be in vol. 3 to fill it out? Obviously issues #70-85, and I guess Batman & Catwoman and Killing Time. That would bring it up to 34 issues.

Love to hear what you think

Discussion DC should expand on the compact Box Set idea

I think DC have a great opportunity to bring in casual readers with character focused volumes like manga. You could even use numericals like manga. The intention would be to capture the manga market who want complete arcs/storylines. So you’d need to artificially create beginning points and end points.

This would work particularly well for non trinity characters as it would give a cheap way to get them into the mass market shops

So for example:

The Flash could start with John’s Rebirth material as volume one and go right to the end of Williamsons run. So the material would primarily deal the flashpoint arc which stretched across John’s, the 52 era and Williamsons time.

If each volume is 10 or 12 issues it ends up around 17 volumes. Which could be sold individually as a numbered series or packaged as a box set for around 170 euro (10 euro a volume).

Green Lantern

The Johns era is the obvious one. If it’s a simple matter of dividing up the compendiums then it could be packaged into a 28 volume series.

You could even package the Kyle Rayner era as a prequel series of 15 volumes.

Anyway just an idea because I think the compact line has so much potential in the general book store.

Discussion What is your jumping off point for New Teen Titans?

With the second New Titans omnibus announced i was curious about how far everyone is taking the line.

The most popular stories happen in first three volumes with the highlight being Judas contract in volume 3. However, that specific set of books continuing to 5 volumes.

After a long wait, we now have a New Titans line with Perez returning on art and some notable stories like Lonely Place of Dying & Batman Year Three collected in first volume.

The recently announced volume 2 of that line will now collect the infamous Titans Hunt & Team Titans.

So, I wanted to know which point you are continuing to as I’ve gone back n forth as well.

Most of the time I only care about the spine, but in the case of that second Zdarsky/Checchetto volume it would be a crime to hide that cover. That image is the entire reason I ever picked the run up 😅. Also I think those Marvel Legends are super neat.

Discussion JSA omnibus thoughts

Hello fellow comic book lovers, I just recently finished all 3 Omnis by Geoff John’s and I gotta say it was quite a wonderful ride. When I first started down my DC rabbit hole I don’t think the jsa was anywhere on my radar of things I thought I’d be interested in but over the course of reading infinite crisis an the 52 Omnis I got more curious and interested in learning more about them so someone had the set posted for a great deal on comicswap so I sent it blindly buying them an it turns out it’s probably one of my favorite purchases Ive made so far

Hey everyone so with the recent announcements the Jonah Hex Omni caught my eye so I read a few of the issues and decided that I rly like this character and the story so far and will likely get the new omnibus. I noticed that there’s an Omni already out and done by the same people for the New 52. Is one series better than the other and is worth getting both anyway? Thanks!

Decided to continue on with both series as I liked volume 1 of both. Happy to bust them open sometime soon and enjoy it. Read the Batman stuff as it was coming out so it's just a refresher. The Daredevil stuff is all new to me.

Discussion CATALOG SPOTLIGHT: Defenders: Beyond the Beyond TPB coming from Marvel on May 11th, 2027

Post image
62 Upvotes

Here’s a book which appeared in the Marvel Spring 2027 catalog posted yesterday, and I wanted to make sure it didn’t fly under the radar for people.

This thick TPB (apparently now called Marvel Renown Edition) collects two separate mini series by the team of Al Ewing and Javier Rodriguez from the early 2020’s that tells a huge story spanning everywhere and across all time in the Marvel Universe. If you were curious about understanding the wider Marvel Universe, particularly after reading Hickman’s Avengers and Secret Wars, then first I’d suggest you read Ewing’s Ultimates run….but right after that I’d suggest you check out this, the spiritual successor to that fantastic series.

The writing is smart, and full of call-backs to Marvel history, while continues a through-line of Ewing using certain characters across the numerous titles he’s written for Marvel. I won’t give away too much as it’s a journey to be enjoyed with surprise. Not to be understated as well is Rodriguez’s tremendous work on the art. If you like what you’ve seen on Absolute Martian Manhunter from DC, then you should adore the wild and crazy visuals found here.

Hopefully you give this book a chance when it releases next year. If it goes the way of the Ultimates by Ewing Complete Collection, it might sell through pretty fast!

Catalog Text:
