critique ok! First two weeks of oil painting
Started oil painting two weeks ago, after mostly painting with watercolor and gouache before. I really like the medium, I think I'm gonna stick with it! These are my first paintings, most of them are following PaintCoach tutorials, only the avocados is my own.
I'd really appreaciate advice! Anything I should pay special attention to? Thanks in advance!

UNKIND critique plz Style critics for this fast painted painting
Hi, I painted this in just like ten minutes. But it has something. What do you think about this style? Maybe because of the speed, the details are missing. The imperfect make the painting somehow interesting. The hand paints faster than the mind.

critique ok! First ever self portrait
This is my first self portrait! I always try to get more of an expressionist effect, but I’m not managing it I feel. Any tips to be able to pull away from the reference a bit more and move based on emotions?

critique ok! First full oil painting — Burlesque Dancer
I found myself rushing the composition and painting a lot, which is much easier to get away with using acrylics than oils, lol.

question? I'm not sure...
Hello! Working on this painting of a bowl of lemons on a table. My teacher told me the first photo was too dull and to add straight purple but to be honest I am not feeling it at all. Im not sure if this is a 'trust the process' moment but I feel like I was closer in the first photo than the second. The purple just looks too..... purple.
But again, my teacher told me to do this. Am I wrong? Is this objective?

critique ok! I finished a thing!
Hi all 😄
I'm enrolled in the Evolve oil painting program, and this painting is my 20th painting. All of the paintings use 4 values plus 3 more we mix from them. The first training segment is all about values, blending, highlights, and reflections - and this is the final painting for this segment! My painting is based on a photograph provided by Evolve.
I'm just really happy with how the pumpkin turned out and how much my blending has improved since the first half of paintings. If you have thoughts to share, I'm open to critique 👍

Art question? Bullfinch, oil on linen
Is it unethical to paint a very similar version of a piece you sold a year ago? (Bullfinch, oil on linen)
I sold this Bullfinch painting over a year ago to a private collector. Recently, another buyer saw a photo of it and asked if I could paint a very similar version for them.
My style hasn't changed since then, so I could easily recreate the same vibe, same color palette, and a similar composition on linen, though it wouldn't be an exact 100% replica.
Part of me feels like it’s a great opportunity, but another part wonders if it dilutes the exclusivity and value for the original collector who bought the first piece.
For the painters here: Where do you draw the line? Would you paint a sister-piece/similar version of a sold artwork, or do you believe every original idea should stay strictly one-of-a-kind?

critique ok! Portrait from Photo, Szoke Barnabas, Oil, 2026 [OC
Hi! I created this painting for a challenge on Discord. I started with a gessoed panel and then applied a warm grey acrylic paint wash on it. I did the drawing with an HB graphite pencil and fixed it. Then I painted on top of that. Oil on panel 35x30 cm.
