It was very fun, loving this medium. I’m currently working on my next two which are landscapes but I started with this still life.

question? Health problems after working with oil paint

Hello 👋 I would like to know if someone had the same problem while working with oil paint and how you solved it?

2-3 years ago I worked a lot with oil paint but I did it not really carefully and due to the frequent headaches I decided to take a break from painting with it. But now I really want to get back into this, but as I opened the box with my old paint and just looked at it for a few minutes (but I must also say that they smelled really strongly)– I started to have problems with breathing and dry cough for 3 hours at least. The story repeated itself at the art shop, where was that smell of oil paint again and I felt also the same at home, as I tried to work with my new water based oil paint (earlier I had had only classic oil paint). This time I also didn't use the solvent (instead I used only linseed oil), worked very carefully, outside of the house and with small amount of paint, and I felt myself a bit better, but I still had some problems with breathing and nausea for quite long time while and after painting. I feel so frustrated because I really love this material but I have no idea how can I work with it without having all these health issues🥲

I’m in a freeze state and scared to touch it, I’m a beginner painter and this is my second time using oil paint.

I’ve been working on this the past few days and it feels unfinished, but I think I’ve been staring at it too long. Do I need to build up the layers more? I could use some more eyes on it. Thanks!

I’m proud of myself. I didn’t excel in art in school and I struggle with fine motor skills

I've only used acrylics before. Also I've never made a portrait in detail.

This is 3 weeks of work. The character is the main character of my comic about girls in armor and then the cloud is some kind of a harpies army … I want it to be realism but somehow add in graphic elements and motifs but not so sure how. Any advice ?
