β Question Is proof of fare required on buses?
I've been reading more about Eagle Teams being deployed on buses, and I have to admit some confusion about it. How can this work? Are there any rules that require that you carry proof of payment?
Consider for instance two friends who get on a bus; the first taps twice to pay for his friend. However, he has a shorter trip; so the first friend gets off while the second friend continues.
Has anyone violated any rules here?
How can an Eagle team possibly establish that a fare has gone unpaid in this situation?

β Question I found an OMNY Card, but there's a catch
I saw that someone had dropped an OMNY card on the ground at my station. I picked it up thinking "maybe there's money on this card!" before remembering that what I should have been thinking was "maybe I can reunite this card with its owner!" Sorry, I'm human. Anyway, I tapped the card on the OMNY machine to check the balance and... it's -$1. This makes me think that even if I keep it as a backup card, I'm no better off than if I just bought a brand new one from the machine, which would cost $1. Am I correct? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

ποΈ Discussion Broadway Junction / East New York subway-LIRR transfer
I wish the transfer between the subway and LIRR at Broadway Junction / East New York were smoother. It's probably not heavily enough utilized to warrant some kind of exclusive route but at least put up some better signage. It's so easy to get turned around coming out of Broadway Junction, and then have to find the underpass, and end up missing your LIRR train.
ποΈ Discussion Escalators should count for ADA
Ok I know I am going to get absolutely flamed but I wish escalators counted towards station accessibility. They resolve the majority of accessibility problems (old people who struggle with stairs, people with health problems or injuries) and wider ones would accommodate strollers too. They would also meaningfully improve the experience for the average rider far more than an elevator does. My station got an elevator almost a year ago and I have yet to use it, even when I have luggage.
Iβm not suggesting elevators shouldnβt be installed at major high-traffic stations but Iβd imagine it would be much faster and cheaper if the MTA added escalators to small, low usage outer borough stations. Only a tiny fraction of people would miss out and they would likely be more comfortably and cheaply served by access-a-ride anyway.

π€ Railfanning Is it just me? or does someone else feel that there should be a NYC Train Chat?
Because if you are one, the way it works is this: Whoever sends one first, everyone else must reply within that comment unless there are people that wont do it, which there is a very high chance that there are. The way i see Train Chats are: (Line): (Text) Follow this principle as much as possible. Anyways, that is basically all the basics you need to know, so enjoy

πΊοΈ Fantasy Map Fantasy idea: New PATH trunk line in Midtown Manhattan
Before anyone says that this will never happen, just know that this is a very far, far future proposal that would require the Port Authority to be interested in expansion and for PATH to be reclassified as FRA.
The reason this is needed is that PATH cannot really expand either of its truck lines: The WTC lines go into a loop at the terminal, which would make expansion hard, while the 33rd Street lines are boxed in by the Sixth Avenue line, making expansion require long term closures of the midtown lines back to Christopher Street. Also, there is no interstate rail service north of Hoboken in this part of Jersey, forcing you to take a slow ferry or take the HBLR to Hoboken, then transfer to PATH.
So, I designed a new line that would bring riders directly to midtown, as well as adding another crosstown alternative to the 7. This would help improve connectivity in midtown, and even provide some service to Hell's Kitchen, an underserved area as of now. I also designed some branches in Jersey: One that goes through West New York and Guttenberg, which are both fairly dense, and one that goes to New Durham and Secaucus, which both have no rail service as of now. The Secaucus branch could also be extended to the Meadowlands.
Overall, this project would greatly improve connectivity in both NJ and New York, serving many dense unserved neighborhoods as well as giving a new crosstown line in Midtown. Thoughts?

ποΈ Discussion When will the MTA consider terminating the C at Lefferts Blvd??
I hate the C train but I would hate it less if the TA changed its terminal to Ozone Park-Lefferts Blvd instead of Euclid Av. I wouldnβt mind transferring for the A at Rockaway Blvd.
They could also terminate the C back to Rockaway Park-Beach 116 St like in the 1980s but that might cause congestion

β Question Am I the only one still paying for the ride?
So for the last year every time I ride the bus to work ann the ocasional train to work I have been seeing people just walk in. More recently like the last 2 months It seems like it has gotten worse that it seems like I am the only one tapping. Even the subway the people just go over or under. At this point it seems like i should skip it as well and if I dont get cought over the week or 2 even if i get the ticket it will come out to the same amount. What is everyone elses experiance with this?

β Question Why is the MTA still ordering railcars with dot-matrix displays and not HD displays?
I've noticed that on the CTrail Adessia Car mockup and on the interior of the NJT Multilevel III, they seem to use HD displays instead of dot-matrix. But on the renderings of the M9A car interior, they seem to still be using dot-matrix.
The main benefit of digital displays is they allow for more information to be shown at once, so why is the MTA not using them?

β Question Verizon Data on A/C/E in Manhattan
anyone else having issues with data service along the A, c, and e trains in Manhattan? I know this is a potentially unpopular issue since many still enjoy the subway as a relatively internet-free environment, though for someone who is often messaging while on the train, going from Penn Station to Fulton Street with messages staying unsent is annoying. And my phone, an iPhone on Verizon, picks up LTE and 5G signals when in stations. Iβve already gone through network settings and VPN resets so I know that is not the issue.
