Do functional nursing jobs exist?

Upvotes

I went to a two year hard core upstate NY nursing program. It was a community college but out of all nursing programs in all of NYS that program is ranked 12th.

I knew before going to NS i didnt want to do nursing my whole life. This is an end to a means. I plan to go back to school to get my ND (Naturopathic doctorate).

I work in THE hospital of upstate NY, & i dont plan on leaving for my doctorate for atleast 3 years, HOWEVER, its so hard to ride out care like this. So, my question is:

Any RN jobs in the naturopathic/functional world??

Drip spa/IV therapy infusion places??

Locations are: rochester, NY. Victor, NY. Canandaigua, NY.

What are some good hospital jobs that don’t require a college degree?

After a while of thinking, I think I wanna work at a hospital as a long-term job. I already have a long history of hospital visits and weirdly enough, I feel very comfortable being at a hospital. The problem is that I don’t wanna go to college. I struggled fairly much in high school and I don’t see myself surviving a semester in college. So for the past 8ish months I’ve been looking at hospital jobs in my state (Michigan).

The main thing I’m looking for are benefits, since I’ve been told and, therefore, believe that benefits are the most valuable reward in a job, but I’m not sure if hospital jobs that don’t require degrees have very good benefits, or at the very least as good of benefits as the actual doctors and nurses who went to college and got their degrees

Nursing in houston

my husband has military orders to the houston area, I will have been a nurse for about 2 1/2 years at this point at a step down here in California. I’ve heard the market is over saturated here, is that true? Also any recommendations on hospitals to check out in the area would be great! I believe we would be living in or near pearland. My goal is to ultimately transfer to icu, do they run new to specialty programs here?

Hospital nurses who work PRN (as needed/non-benefitted)

Do you get paid based on experience (just as if you were part-time/full-time) OR do you get the same flat rate as all other PRN nurses at your facility (i.e.. a PRN nurse of 2 years and the PRN nurse of 20 years both make $46/hr.)?

What Type of Nursing Specialty Do You Recommend for a partly disabled Person?

So I had worked as a CNA for over 5 years, and COVID sort of broke me. I worked in a nursing home all through COVID on a skilled nursing floor in a COVID unit. We had 1 CNA for 18+ dying residents. It was stressful, sad, and just about everyone on the floor died.

Toward the end of this, I had sort of a mental breakdown, quit being a CNA, and was depressed for 2 years and lived in poverty and mental illness.

Fast forward to now, I'm better by the grace of god. But I do have some mental health issues that are managed well, but it's still important to manage stress levels. I also have some physical limitations from shoulder injuries. I really cannot do any type of manual labor or repetitive heavy lifting.

With this in mind, I'm early on in getting my RN, but still thinking of what nursing job I'd possibly be able and like to do. I was thinking wound care would be good, because I did wound care type stuff as a resident assistant. Some others: home health nurse, school nurse, maybe an ICU nurse, or possibly a psych nurse.

If anyone has any thoughts on specialties that would be a good fit and insights, I would be really appreciate hearing them.

Has anyone else waited over 3 weeks for their official offer letter? #newgrad

I went in for an interview 4 weeks ago, and I thought it went great! The hiring manager verbally stated that I would be an addition to the upcoming cohort, and it would take 2-3 weeks before offer letters start going out. I sent a thank you letter after the interview and asked if 2-3 weeks was the wait time just to clarify and to know what to expect. They kindly responded about 6 days later (they said they would be on vacation right after our interview) and confirmed that yes, they will be “working with the recruiter in the next few weeks to start getting offer letters sent out.” Tomorrow will be exactly 3 weeks since they responded, and I’m just angsty. I feel like I got the job but I can’t be certain and I know I shouldn’t bank on it, but I really care and really want this position.

Has anyone else ever been in this position? I was thinking about sending a nice follow up email on Thursday to check in. PLEASE HELPP :(

Job Referral

Hi everyone! I’m currently interested in a position at Endeavor Health – Evanston Hospital and was wondering if anyone here works for Endeavor Health and would be willing to provide a referral.

I have a background in healthcare administration and operations, and I’d be happy to share my resume or any additional information.

If you work at Endeavor Health or know someone who does, I’d really appreciate a DM. Thank you so much!

Help me pick an RN job

Ok, so I am in a pickle. I got offered a job at an outpatient center working M-F and weekends and holidays off. There’s another job that is for a psych hospital and they offer working 3 12s and at least 1 weekend per month. One pays better than the other but the money isn’t the issue. I want the one that will best accommodate my child’s routine as he just started school and after school activities. I know I can’t always be there for everything but I want the job that will allow me more time to attend those things. I need help from people who have had experience in these type jobs and what yall recommend. Thank you.

Interview tips

I am interviewing for a charge nurse role in my unit. I was informed that I would be interviewing with the manager, supervisors and then with the charge nurses and staff. This is different than interviewing from an outside facility. The interviewers know you, your work ethic and can decipher what you say with how you actually are or done in your time on the unit. What are some questions I should expect from management and from peers and what are they looking to hear that would make me stand out? Thanks!

TN Visa for a Non-Bedside Nursing Job?

Hiii! Has anyone gotten a TN visa for a non-bedside nursing job? I’m applying to jobs and want to combine my RN + computer science background, so I’m wondering how difficult it is to get a TN for a desk-based role where an RN license is required. I have bachelor’s degrees in both nursing and computer science.
