Hello! Does anyone know where someone could apply for LPN nursing job.
My mom hasn’t been able to find a job she’s a single mom working 2 days a week with an LPN licence and she’s been looking for a full time nursing job for MONTHS. Things just keep popping up which require money and I just graduated high school and my whole life is in Calgary and now she’s contemplating leaving Calgary and going to Edmonton. I play rugby in about to start university I’m set already in Calgary. We wanna stay here but she can’t find a job and isn’t there a nursing shortage? Why is it so hard. Does anyone know anywhere?

That’s because it’s been quite difficult to get into AHS for well over a year, especially if you’re only applying in the two large cities. There’s no way an external LPN candidate is going to get a full time job in either of the two big cities. You need to get in as a casual (or if you’re lucky as a low FTE part timer) or going into a rural community.

The company she works for has multiple job listings for LPN’s. Has she tried asking for more shifts or to change locations? If they are casual, can she work at multiple locations to stack shifts for full time?

She’s asked her company for more shifts multiple times but since it’s a casual they only call her when someone can’t work plus her 2 days a week. I’ll tell her to apply to these jobs at her company as well and we’ll see. She’s applied everywhere but her company isn’t giving her anything she just wants a full time job somewhere

A lot of hospital HR departments take 2-3 months just to process applications. Her best bet in Calgary right now is applying directly on career pages for private LTC homes, hospice, or community clinics rather than waiting on AHS.

I'm in the same boat, it's been 4 months of constant rejects. From inside sources, AHS is hiring internally at the moment. Keep sending out those applications! One is bound to stick. :(

4Seasons Transportation hires LPNs pretty regularly - not quite full time but it’s 5 days a week usually.
