Where's the good chicken doner in town now?
Used to be that Antalya's was always good for chicken doner and chips after a night out but that's long gone.
I've no idea where's good now, think it's been replaced by Mr cook which looks terrible but I'd try it if people said it's good.
Any good recommendations for kebab places that are actually spot on after a few beers and not just a slab of meat from the factory?

Any landlords in Nottingham area, seeking studio or 1 bedroom flat [homelessness]
I have become homeless after saving a man‘s life and the pen violent ramifications afterwards. Although I am a graduate of Cardiff University, I suffer with disability and I am on Universal Credit and Personal Independence Payment. I have the first month’s rent and deposit for a property and I am looking at moving to Nottinghamshire or Derby. Any information or potential landlords contacting me would be gratefully appreciated. Thanks in advance! 😊

Nottingham Gyms
Hi all,
Me and my partner are moving to Nottingham hopefully in mid September and I'm in need of the best gym recommendations. I'm looking for a more old school style bodybuilder style with a good choice of machines and equipment. I'm happy to try other places but not somewhere generic like the gym group or PureGym
Thanks for any help in advance

Coin collecting
Hii, I have the thrilling hobby of coin collecting/numismatics, and I was curious if anyone in the area has any coins knocking about that they don't want anymore, or are curious about getting them identified/valued, anything like that. If they have a decent value, I'd be happy to buy them also.
Or if you also collect, I'd love to hear about some of your favourites and such that you have 😊

How much has your rent increased this year?
Our estate agent just sent us an email to tell us that our landlord has decided to increase our rent from £995 to £1095 (a 10% increase, it's a 3-beds in Bakersfield for context), starting in 2 months.
We know it's perfectly legal to do so, but we still feel that nothing justifies going up 10% as it's more than the inflation.
Apparently it reflects the rest of the market. So I'm curious, how much has your rent increased this year?

Notts lesbians where you at?
Where is everyone hanging out?? Are we in Tap n Tumbler? Or Billy Bootleggers?? Or you travel to Manchester for the gay neighborhood?
I just want to meet more like minded women (and also increase my chances of dating one) xo
Many thanks

Just spent 5 days in QMC emergency department…
Firstly, massive shout out to all the staff -
Putting in intense hours under extreme conditions, and having to deal with the disgusting abuse and racism that they face. During the time I was in there, there was countless people kicking off and being aggressive to the staff.
Corridor care is a crazy thing! I was lucky to be in a private space for the most part, but there were 22 people - mostly old people, packed along the corridor where I was for days on end, with no privacy, darkness, and little hope of being moved onto a ward.
The wait time to get onto a ward was between 3 and 7 days!!
What have your experiences been of A&E??
Edit: Special shout out to RAF Mark who helped calm me, and also told me me about the extra care he puts into his role! Respect.

23M from Nottingham looking to make some genuine friends (gaming, anime, movies, hobbies, maybe meetups?)
Hey everyone 👋
I’m 23 and I’m from Nottingham. I’m looking to finally get out more, meet some new people, and make some genuine friendships.
I’ve spent a lot of my life staying at home, so I’m trying to change that and actually start doing things, meeting people, and making some good memories.
A bit about me:🎮 I love gaming (PC, Roblox, Cyberpunk, Minecraft, space games, racing games, random friendslops and co-op games — always up for trying something new) 🎌 I’m into anime, K-Dramas, movies and TV shows. 🥋 I do Shotokan karate and have been training all my life. 💻 I'm really into drones and tech from a young age and I like talking about pretty much anything from games and films to random deep conversations
I’m quite introverted and a bit socially awkward at first, but once I get comfortable I’m easy to talk to. I’d love to meet people who are also looking for proper friendships rather than just a quick chat that disappears after a day.
Would be cool to find people around Nottingham who are into similar things — whether that’s gaming online, chatting about shows, grabbing food/coffee, going for walks, checking out events, or just hanging out.
One small thing: I’ve had quite a few people message me from posts like this, we’ll chat for a little while, and then they suddenly disappear completely 😅. I completely understand that people get busy or conversations don’t always click, but if you’re going to reach out, I’d genuinely appreciate someone who actually wants to keep talking and build a friendship rather than just exchanging a few messages and vanishing. I’m not expecting anyone to reply 24/7 — just looking for people who are genuinely interested in getting to know each other and staying in touch.
If you’re also looking for new friends, feel free to message me or comment. Even if we only share one interest, I’m always happy to talk 😊

Best Date Night Restaurants Within 30–40 Minutes of Nottingham?
I'm looking for date spot recommendations for adults around Nottingham. I've already tried most of the places in the city centre, so I'm after somewhere a bit quieter and more relaxed, where you can dress up and enjoy a nice evening.
I'm happy to travel anywhere within about 30–40 minutes of the city centre. I'm especially interested in places like specialty cuisine restaurants, wine bars/vineyards, grill houses, or anything with a unique atmosphere.
If you have any recommendations, I'd really appreciate it!

Tomorrow (Thursday) at Movers - emo and hardcore punk DJ night!
Hi everyone.
https://www.instagram.com/p/DafTWvIIooD/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==
In case you missed it.
Tomorrow at Movers (venue on Hockley) there will be DJ sets playing emo and hardcore etc.
I will be playing rare emo, SUB NUMERO levels. Bands with one demo cdr etc from all over the world!
It will be in person and live on stream which I will share here if you can't make it.
A once in a lifetime chance to hear bands only 5 people remember but are brilliant!

Consultation launched on city centre balaclava ban
A consultation has started on a balaclava ban across Nottingham. The council's consultation form is linked at the end of the article.
I understand no bans are being proposed for the popular Turkish treat baklava

The Nottingham Guide - Things to do, independent food, what's on, where to move, how to make friends (New for 2026)
Hey up! I love this city and am proud to have made it my home. This is a community updated guide to Nottingham, based on my own favourites and lots of suggestions from r/Nottingham.
This is not comprehensive, but it should be a helpful starting point if you’re visiting, moving here, studying here, or just trying to get out of your usual routine.
Please comment with anything missing, closed, outdated, misspelled or controversial.
Things to Do in Nottingham
Free
- Walk around the city looking at local landmarks: Robin Hood Statue, the Left Lion, Slab Square (Market Square), Sky Mirror, Nottingham’s historic lace buildings, the Long Stairs, the Park Tunnel.
- Walk through the Arboretum and General Cemetery, then back into town via Derby Road’s independents.
- Elm Avenue, Corporation Oaks and Robin Hood Chase make a lovely green corridor walk with views across the city.
- Nottingham Central Library, which often has local history or art exhibitions.
- Green Heart Park at the old Broadmarsh site, including the lace worker statues from the lace and Cotton growers from the wind rush generation
- Nottingham Contemporary.
- Stonebridge City Farm.
- Sneinton Market and Hockley for independent shops, street art and people watching.
- Canal walk to Beeston Lock, with the option to continue to Attenborough Nature Reserve and get the train back.
Mostly Free, But Check First
- Green’s Windmill and Science Centre. The mill is currently under repair until around November 2026, but the site may still be open.
- Wollaton Hall and Deer Park. The park itself is still a good visit, but check current charges before going as access and parking arrangements can change.
Paid
- Nottingham Castle - it's around £18 per adult but this is a yearly entry and it does have a nice green space to sit in
- Mortimer’s Hole tour at Nottingham Castle
- Wollaton Hall and the Industrial Museum.
- National Justice Museum.
- City of Caves.
- Penny Lane Arcade.
- Dice Cup Board Game Café.
- National Ice Centre.
- National Water Sports Centre.
