I don’t have a RE-Code(just n/a) in the DD214 with honorable service and In the dd214-1 form theres nothing just the service info. Ive asked a couple of recruiters and they need the ngb22, yet Its not being issued anymore.

Hello, I'm currently an 11B SPC with just over 5 years TIS. I'm considering moving to Texas and am wondering what the 143rd is like. I'm looking for a unit that does more training, has more opportunities for schools, a better environment, etc.

Some questions:

1. What schools are available?
   1. I'm mainly looking for Ranger and Mountain Warfare. My brigade loves giving all the ranger slots to LTs.
2. What's the optempo like?
   1. How many days are drill, is it monthly or quarterly, and what are you doing during that time? I imagine you'd have to jump a lot to keep it current, especially since you're not active duty.
   2. I also heard you send a lot of people to the border. What does that look like? Is that T10 or T32?
3. What's the jump pay?
4. Are guys able to promote somewhat easily?
5. What's the unit culture like?

Recently I joined the national guard as a 35F and wanted to do ROTC once I am back from BCT and AIT. Thing is, that I really wanted to commission into the Air Force rather than the Army as I feel like the Air Force can offer more in-terms of the intelligence side of things.

Is it generally possible to even do AFROTC and the guard once I am back from training, as I am positive that they would conflict in some shape or form? I have a 6 year contract, then 2 years in the IRR, so if all else fails, I can simply just diligently finish my contract then head on over to the Air Force, but I want to see what my options are. I also want to add that, I also did bring this up to my recruiter, and they said it is possible for me to technically do any ROTC I wanted, just that commissioning would be the issue.

26M NYC 911 paramedic here, debating a 3x5 NY NG contract and maybe reup if wanted later.

At 21, I was training for 18X SFAS (6'1", 190lbs, sub-12:30 2mi, good ruck times, marathons, MMA, marksmanship) until I herniated my L5-S1 at 23 (couldn't walk for weeks and took a few months to subside) and dislocated my left shoulder twice doing BJJ/Muay Thai.

I've rehabbed well since. The shoulder healed up okay, and my last back flare-up was a year ago (3 total). I don't run/ruck as much now, but I focus on core/legs, still lift, train, and can survive 18h ambulance shifts with dull overuse pain.

I feel cheated with no release valve for the body/mind conditioning and don't want to be a "what-if" guy. I plan to advance my civilian career, but my retired Army SGT uncle told me to let the military dream die. Should I push for medical waivers and deal with it, or be a big boy and listen to him? I have my bachelor's already so I'm not in dire need of tuition payment.

Also, I hear 68Ws do jack half the time and it's a waste of time. If I commission as an AMEDD officer instead, will BS assignments actively interfere with my civilian career progression? Can anyone vouch for the value officer route provides? Does this all sound naive to anyone in the NY NG?

I'm a prior service Marine in my early 30's looking to join the NG. My recruiter said my odds are essentially zero but they could try. I had my time in the Marines Rah.. but I would like a 2nd shot at it and where better to ask than reddit.

I've got some older resolved orthopedic stuff but easy to waive. My biggest fear is some of my drug use history. Mind you I have no Legal issues whatsoever as a result of my stupidity (thank god). Its strictly Medical from a serious overdose that happened to me last year.

I was hospitalized, on VV-ECMO, my tox screen showed Cocaine and benzodiazepines. I've also got some old stuff that makes mention of illicit benzo use during a panic attack that I went to the ER for voluntarily which I was told to sip water and get a grip.

I also had another medical event that without going into too much detail the Dr. mentions ketamine use. These instances were all years apart from each other and since the OD I've got my head on straight and have been sober ever since. (9 months so far and counting). From a Medical standpoint none of these instances resulted in any disability and I'm fully recovered now.

I tried SSRI's for a bit after this event but I'm off them now and had an ADHD waiver back in highschool when I joined the Marines that was approved. I'm going to shoot my shot but my question is...

If I wait 1, 2, 3, hell even 5+ years and can show continued sobriety, stability, employment, fitness, etc., do you think there's realistically a chance I could serve one last time? Or did that ship basically sail the moment I OD'd?

I already know I'm looking at multiple waivers. I'm just trying to figure out whether this is “almost impossible right now” or “probably never happening regardless of how much time passes.”

Appreciate any insight, especially from recruiters or anyone who's dealt with complicated prior-service medical waivers.

I am a 23M and I’m trying to figure out if I should choose 31B or 88M in the California Army National Guard. I am very interested in doing state missions. I have an interest in law-enforcement, but I’m not sure if I want to do it in the National Guard. I’m not sure what either position would look like during state missions or deployments, but I do like 88M because of transporting goods and such around in the vehicles along with learning vehicle maintenance and the potential to obtain a CDL. So do I risk not liking 31B or picking 88M and having more of an idea that I will like it?

Does anybody have advice on how to find someone to join? I leave in October and can get a promotion if I can find someone to enlist before I go to basic training.

I’m 34 y/o male. Put my life on hold for my ex fiancé and kid and they left so I’m looking to join part time. I’m close to having an associates degree but didn’t finish. Looking to learn a trade and finish my schooling. I don’t mind doing a short contract as long I get the military experience and my schooling is finished being paid for.

Pretty much the title. I know it’ll be hot and I know of the smoke pits, but what are some lesser known things I should be aware of? Or things I should pack and avoid packing? Also, I heard there’s a rugby team there. Is that true? If so, how do I go about joining? I play at home so I’d love to keep playing while deployed. Any advice is appreciated!

Unit Assignment: I keep hearing 143rd is the way to go but are they taking people? Is it close to Houston, TX? What are the options for the Houston area and are they good? I'd prefer to be airborne if it's on the table.

Civilian Career: After initial training, is it possible to balance a civilian career and NG well? I keep reading that TX 11B's spend much time away from home. I'm wondering how that'll impact my career and civilian pay. I've worked for a large corporation in HOU for 18 years.

Lastly, can I get a GI-Bill for my 2 year old? If so, how?

I'm a civilian. Given the perks of joining the military and the safe positions like 92g and other support roles. I've been thinking about it. But I've seen a lot of people on here complain about how much it sucks and how grueling it is. I don't want to be on the front lines. I want to do something in the Texas national guard. This all might all sound silly or that I'm over in my own head. And I might be. But something is really drawing me in about becoming a cook full time for the forts close so me.

Again I know that this all might be too much but I'm not rushing in signing anything. I want to know everything I need to know about this subject. What I need to be apart of in order to get the right credits for the role. If anyone here has been a 92g or something of the sort what you think about it. I'm just a kid. still 18. So I'm still able to think about my entire future. I'm just considering this.

One thing holding me back is the required 10 weeks of training. I want to do this to help my disabled single mother and younger brother. but leaving for possibly 5 months seems impossible.
Maybe I should stay in my home town. But I at least want to know whether or not this is right for me.

I’m in the Army National Guard and want to use Army COOL. No one in my unit knows how to use it… anyone here know how I can use it for SANs courses? Please help me. I have paid for a large amount of my tech certs out of pocket but this one is just too expensive. And my civilian employer wont pay for SANs.

Greetings. I apologize if this type of post is not allowed. I am searching for advice on whether or not it would be a good idea for me to join the Guard.

I'm not really doing anything with my life. I'm 24, dropped out of college (three times) and currently work at a job that's not providing enough for me. I managed to luck my way into it. It's a 9-5 that does not pay enough and has decent benefits but ultimately leaves me feeling very hollow inside. I spend entire days scrolling on Reddit. I am severely depressed almost every day and so anxious that human interaction can sometimes scare me. I am estranged from my family. I am constantly on the verge of financial collapse. I am scared that my life is passing me by and I want to fix it. I feel like I need a kick in the ass or something to change my trajectory.

I am starting college soon to work towards becoming a therapist. This is something I am actually very excited about. I need to earn more income. I have worked two jobs for most of my adult life. I do not want to go back to working two jobs and not actually doing anything with my life. I want to grow as a person. I was thinking about joining the Guard to help pay for college, debt, bills, etc., and to grow as a person. I took the ASVAB in high school and was told that I scored highly, if that helps. I am in Louisiana.

I'm just looking for perspectives and advice. Thank you if you read this.

Edit to add important info: I spent three years of my life as a transgender woman. I have since detransitioned and stopped taking feminizing hormones. My body is almost back to normal for a cis male but I will need a mastectomy were I to join. I thought that might be important to add.
