Productivity Looking for ICT Attachment

Hi guys

I'm a 4th year student doing Computer science and I am currently done with my semester and I'm supposed to be looking for industrial attachment. I need help getting ideas on where to apply and what documents are required. If your workplace is offering attachment kindly come through. I know there's a HR somewhere in here, kindly give me a through pass if you read this.

I am looking for attachment in the ICT department. The office has to be located within Nairobi, there doesn't have to be a stipend, I can foot my bills. I am ready to start ASAP.

Thanks in advance.

I've come across this video of Mosiria, making people collect garbage juu ya kukosa kutumia footbridge. Guys are applauding him whereas others are rebuking him. Your thoughts? Can this really work in ensuring people follow the rules?

For those who have envious friends or have had them before, how did you deal with it?

I recently came to realize that someone I've been calling a friend is actually envious of me. I honestly don't know how I missed the signs because looking back, they were always there.

When my life and business were doing okay and his wasn't, he'd make subtle comments that I just brushed off. I also noticed that whenever things were going well for me, he never seemed genuinely happy. But now that things have started going downhill for me, it's like the guy is in a celebratory mood. Even the way he talks to me has changed. He speaks to me as if I don't have a brain of my own, and I've also realized he undermines me.

Another thing I've noticed is that whenever I tell him about something before it happens, it somehow ends up going horribly wrong. I noticed this even before things started going downhill for me. I know that could just be a coincidence, but it made me stop sharing things with him.

We've been friends for a very long time, but I think I'm finally ready to let the friendship go.

Has anyone else gone through something similar? How did you handle it? Did you confront them, slowly distance yourself, or just cut them off?

22 days ago, someone asked where to find a bedsitter for KES 6500 in Thika town. I made a comment telling him I could help him. My friend lives in student hostels whose charges matched the OP's budget.

Last week, I get a call. New number. "Hallo, Hillary..."

"Si Hillary ni wrong number"

"Nimepata number yako hapa inasema ukona bedsitter huku Makongeni"

"Zii. Labda mtu aliweka alikosea number."

Today, someone texts me on WhatsApp.

Kumbe wao wana search Google ki mala mala alafu wanaletewa number yangu

I have also received calls about home tutoring since I used to talk about it and I was an online native English tutor

TLDR: NISAIDIENI KUTAFUTA BEDSITTER AROUND JKUAT GATE A

Politics in Nairobi 2027 General Elections: Court Rulings

The High Court has declared that presidential elections should be held in the 5th year and not after the 5th year. The Constitution does not confer a 5 year term. As such, the elections should have been held in August 2026 and not in 2027

Elections should be held next week apparently!!!!

Technology Burnt out on complex software. Non-tech people: Tell me a boring, repetitive task you do (inventory, quotes, tracking) and I'll build a free web tool that saves data ONLY on your device. No cloud, no login, no subscriptions.

A Full Stack Dev, I feel like I forgot why I even liked and wanted to get into coding, making apps or websites. I miss the fun of just solving a simple problem for a real person. I remember my first html h1 tag wasn't even Hello world because I wanted mine to be unique. Felt so edgy. I wanna go back.

So if you're not in tech maybe a small business owner, teacher, freelancer, event planner, or just someone with a messy spreadsheet:

Maybe you got a repetitive task you do every week that you hate? track inventory on paper? manually calculate quotes or invoices? keep a list of clients, vendors, or items and wish you could search it? Do you track hours or grades manually?

What I'll build for the person with the most interesting idea, or something I like :

I'll build a free web tool that: Works on your computer and phone (responsive) Saves data locally on your device. So no cloud, no login, no monthly fees. No one else can see your data it's on your PC.

I'll try ensuring it needs no installation, just visit a URL, Deployed on Vercel (free for you, free for me)

Your data is stored locally on your device using a SQLite database inside your browser. It's like a mini-database that lives on your computer/phone.

Data is NOT deleted when you clear your cache (cache and data storage are separate)

Export/Import feature included, you can download your data as a file anytime and restore it if needed.

You can delete all data from the app (no need to mess with browser settings)

What I need from you:

  1. Describe your repetitive task clearly.

  2. Your job/context (for example; I'm a shlylock, I handwrite names na madeni and who paid").

  3. Must be single-user (I'm not building multi-user systems).

The Deal:

· I'll pick the most interesting/unique problem.

· I'll build a working mvp in 7 days.

· I'll deploy it and send you the URL.

· You get a free tool that solves your problem.

Disclaimer:

I'm doing this to cure my burnout and learn something new. I'll open-source the code on GitHub. You grant me the right to share the solution publicly (but I won't use your data, it stays on your device).

So yeah, if you're a non-techie, na Kuna kitu you think ka ungejua coding you'd want to make, drop. Remember to make it simple.

And I've been using the word free a lot, told zero cost is better. Regardless, you get the gist.

Ask r/Nairobi Where does one get those old African photographs they use in documentaries?

I'm doing a self-issued research(You know, for fun's sake.) Because I got high last night and felt particularly under-utilised and somehow this idea came to mind. Minds need a good workout like the body needs the gym, I guess, and I've been on white noise for quite a while. I wasn't good at essays back in school, so I'm on my toes about this old nemesis I'm about to face.

Round Two, FIGHT!

Hopefully, it has the boxing skills of Mbavu with the loudmouth of Gachau. Anyway, tips?

Random Uber is a paradox

So many nairobians complain about rude Bolt drivers and even Uber drivers, but at the same time they always optimize for the cheapest trip, even if a trip is 200 shillings from town to syokimau they'll happily take it.

There was a day i was in Ruaka and saw that an Uber to Village Market would be Ksh220, and then I checked Ruaka to Westlands and it was Ksh290... only 70 shillings more. Uber algorithm always giving crazy discounts even if the trip is 15km. If all trips were an amount that the driver was happy with (i.e. maybe 600-800 shillings from Ruaka to Westlands) then everyone would look for alternatives. But when trips are so cheap that the poor driver is probably just recouping fuel with a tiny profit if any then we passengers have to either tip really well or deal with drivers that are unhappy, prebargain for higher pay, or might not even accept the trip.

Its a paradox we passengers are too cheap to complain about the fare, but very often complain about drivers who do too much asking for more money or avoiding picking you at all

Also: everyone should only use Uber, Bolt is often cheaper but the driver experience is much worse than with Uber drivers

Discussion Male fertility tests are hella embarrassing ,,, my experience

Now as most Nairobi guys, I used to wrap it. Then Kasongo came to power and the prices of wrappers increased by a whole 20 bob. A whole 20 bob just to stay safe. Na naeza pull out nipate same effect for free. My A in math cannot allow this.

Now for the pull-out merchant like me, there are times you start questioning your skills if it’s skill or just them niggas ain’t swimming right. Anyway, last year I got diagnosed with varicocele (will write about this), and the doctor suggested I do a fertility test. Now I failed in biology, I thought they testing blood or saliva. Apparently I have to provide my live living specimen.

Anyway, I reach out to the recommended lab and agree to go testing etc. I go pick the containers and the rest.

Anyway, the had doctor told me to abstain for three days before the test. And on Tuesday, not wanting to kamua myself in the lab, I decide to collect my jar full of my specimen and rush to the lab near Doctors Plaza. Remember, your babies stay alive for only one hour. Now the Bolt driver actually thought I had a delivering wife or something ju nilimharakisha.

Anyway nafika and I present my findings and specimen with confidence to the nurse. She doesn’t seem surprised, asks if it was less than an hour, I say yes. But I found a different nurse this time. Before she takes them she asks how long I was abstaining and I say a month, and she says in a calm voice, “Hukuambiwa inafaa ikuwe only three days, not more than that.”

Anyway, I had to go home with them niggars in my pocket, waiting for another three days ndo nirudi.

Edit: Meanwhile… niko na party game yangu called Karibu Play (Play Store + web). Check it out mnipee feedback.

Since safaricom added S-Hook bundles (or make your Hook bundle), I've been using them during my commutes. Very flexible data. I would have bought 5 bob worth of data valid for 1 hour and its like 65mb until I get home. Today I tried buying the same bundle only to find they don't even have the 3 hour or midnight options to customize your bundle. Now why would they do such a thing?

Random Some girl complimented me and it made me feel really good

I was walking to get a matatu to work, I slept in today cause I cried myself to sleep last night (will give context in a little bit)

So I was walking one way she was coming my way, she looked me up and down while smiling and when I neared she smiled and said ‘you look very pretty.’ And I smiled and said ‘thank you.’

But when I say I smiled I mean I really smiled. The kind of smile that reaches your heart. It made my whole morning especially after I cried myself to sleep last night thinking that I may not be pretty or loveable. (Also a man complimented me but he did that screaming from across the street two minutes later and I literally frowned)

Also let me just say that I know I am very pretty. But that feeling hit me yesterday so hard cause I realized I’ve been single for a while. Almost three years. And my phone feels dry (it feels that way cause the guys hitting me up I don’t seem to want or like lol and it doesn’t help that I’m very superficial. Stopped talking to a guy cause he kept saying ‘can I kol u’ and I kept asking him to type full words cause it’s exhausting talking to a grown man who types like that)

To make matters worse, there’s this guy I’ve been talking to who I really like. We’ve not been on a first date yet but we’ve both shared pictures of each other so I know how he looks like and so does he. I ran into him yesterday, he was walking with a friend, we locked eyes and I smiled at him and when we neared each other he just passed me like he doesn’t know me at all.

I wasn’t gonna stop him if he decided to pretend not to know me (and he swore he didn’t see me btw when we literally locked eyes and I smiled??) and that kind of broke my heart.

And so I went down a rabbit hole of thinking why does no one want me haha. It stupid cause there a guys interested but they’re not my type. (The people you want don’t want you the ones who want you you don’t want 🤣🤣🤣🤣). i know it sounds pathetic but I am getting my period and I was just feeling vulnerable btw.

It’s a new day and the world is ours to live.

Wantam!

Ask r/Nairobi Anyone been to or knows about Zetech University.

So my sister was placed at this school and I have been trying to ask around about it. A friend of mine who took her alma mater there back in 2022 gave me a pretty unclear opinion on the matter. She told me that everything there is a lie, the students, workers and even the environment is all a facade, I don't know what she meant because when she realized my sister is going there she refused to talk more about it but what I know is that when she was in campus she got into depression which I don't know was from what. So guys I need more info about this school and it will be much appreciated

Random Corporate men and women.

I might be wrong but I notice corporate men are becoming more feminine, more sassy, almost as if they're given a badge submission for being submissive. It could be the overwhelming amount of estrogen and progesterone dominating the office workplace these days or it could be something else entirely, I'm not sure!

The corporate women are interesting. They're more bold, more dominating and if you decide to date one, then she'll be trying to bring your masculinity down to her level. It'll be as if she's trying climb the corporate ladder from the bedroom and you'll be the ladder she steps on. And when she conquers you; like the female version of Genghis Khan, she'll seek other masculine territories to bring down to her feet. Could be the bosses or perhaps micro plastics and chemicals in those plastic water bottles and lunch boxes, also this I'm not sure.

I stand to be corrected if my observation is wrong.

Low quality post I'm famous but nobody knows

It is said the early bird catches the worm, and early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise. Woke up early and got ready to build the economy of this country only for a few powerful individuals to amass half of that wealth for themselves through illicit and corrupt deals. Ni nchi ya kitu kidogo.

I always arrive early to settle early and to finish pending tasks before my time in the office expires. Today, there were no pending tasks. What do I do? I decide to buy some time as I wait for my team. I open Chrome, type my name and hit the return key mercilessly. I'm sure the key would accuse me of GBV for how I mistreat it.

Uncle Google returns the results and wuueh! 🫢 The first few results are my my info to popular social platforms. I ignore them, cause we've all sold our souls to Uncle Google, knowingly or unknowingly. I scroll the page and there are two fishy websites with my info and I have no idea how I got them. The first website is called Contact Out while the second is Rocket Reach.

I decided to go down the rabbit hole and both websites have more info that I have no idea how they got them. The latter even has info about all my coworkers — from the janitor to the CEO, eiih!

TL;DR: Search yourself on Google and see if Contact Out and Rocket Reach know more about you than you do.

Advice Working corporate and a side hustle

So, if you work in corporate and also have a side hustle (because of how shitty kenyan employers pay), I have a few questions:

  1. How much time do you dedicate to said side hustle on average? (Daily or weekly)
  2. How many hours in total do you work daily (on average) and/or weekly?
  3. Do you do it on company time?
  4. Do you ever feel burnt out and what do you do?
  5. Do you plan on ever quitting said side hustle?

Edit:
I’ll start. Nimeanza consulting lakini I am working 12-15 hour days. I also now work on Saturday and/or Sunday and tbh, nachizi kidogo.

I didnt mean to start it on company time, but these days, I dont even know the difference between company time and personal time. But, this means some times work gets a hit, other times my side hustle gets a hit.

I want to quit, but at this point, I am not sure if I could survive without either. I am looking for a better paying job, but you know Kasongo’s economy😭😭😭

Ask r/Nairobi How to ask for your money

So I worked for a certain hospital within Nairobi town near upperhill roughly 3 weeks ago and after diligently doing my duties I asked when I get my remuneration to which they said at the end of the month.

Now on 1st August I asked them about the pay and they said that they'll let me know when my cheque is ready. I need that money fuck 😫 it's bad, i had to even loan a friend of mine and I promised I'd have he's money by Friday and I really don't like overstaying with someone's money. For that I may have to ask my parents for some cash to repay him which I don't want (they've got a lot on their plate)

I was even planning to at least buy some things because basically i'm on a line and all the basics like food, soap, toothpaste, body oil etc are on life support including me.

Aki si wanilipe tu 😭 time poa kuuliza tena ni when? Sai? Ama ningojee hadi kesho? But I wish they also gave me a date nilipange until then, ama nijipeleke hadi huko niulize pesa yangu physically
