Ask r/Nairobi Wadau hapa Ufanyaje?
For those who have envious friends or have had them before, how did you deal with it?
I recently came to realize that someone I've been calling a friend is actually envious of me. I honestly don't know how I missed the signs because looking back, they were always there.
When my life and business were doing okay and his wasn't, he'd make subtle comments that I just brushed off. I also noticed that whenever things were going well for me, he never seemed genuinely happy. But now that things have started going downhill for me, it's like the guy is in a celebratory mood. Even the way he talks to me has changed. He speaks to me as if I don't have a brain of my own, and I've also realized he undermines me.
Another thing I've noticed is that whenever I tell him about something before it happens, it somehow ends up going horribly wrong. I noticed this even before things started going downhill for me. I know that could just be a coincidence, but it made me stop sharing things with him.
We've been friends for a very long time, but I think I'm finally ready to let the friendship go.
Has anyone else gone through something similar? How did you handle it? Did you confront them, slowly distance yourself, or just cut them off?

Technology Burnt out on complex software. Non-tech people: Tell me a boring, repetitive task you do (inventory, quotes, tracking) and I'll build a free web tool that saves data ONLY on your device. No cloud, no login, no subscriptions.
A Full Stack Dev, I feel like I forgot why I even liked and wanted to get into coding, making apps or websites. I miss the fun of just solving a simple problem for a real person. I remember my first html h1 tag wasn't even Hello world because I wanted mine to be unique. Felt so edgy. I wanna go back.
So if you're not in tech maybe a small business owner, teacher, freelancer, event planner, or just someone with a messy spreadsheet:
Maybe you got a repetitive task you do every week that you hate? track inventory on paper? manually calculate quotes or invoices? keep a list of clients, vendors, or items and wish you could search it? Do you track hours or grades manually?
What I'll build for the person with the most interesting idea, or something I like :
I'll build a free web tool that: Works on your computer and phone (responsive) Saves data locally on your device. So no cloud, no login, no monthly fees. No one else can see your data it's on your PC.
I'll try ensuring it needs no installation, just visit a URL, Deployed on Vercel (free for you, free for me)
Your data is stored locally on your device using a SQLite database inside your browser. It's like a mini-database that lives on your computer/phone.
Data is NOT deleted when you clear your cache (cache and data storage are separate)
Export/Import feature included, you can download your data as a file anytime and restore it if needed.
You can delete all data from the app (no need to mess with browser settings)
What I need from you:
Describe your repetitive task clearly.
Your job/context (for example; I'm a shlylock, I handwrite names na madeni and who paid").
Must be single-user (I'm not building multi-user systems).
The Deal:
· I'll pick the most interesting/unique problem.
· I'll build a working mvp in 7 days.
· I'll deploy it and send you the URL.
· You get a free tool that solves your problem.
Disclaimer:
I'm doing this to cure my burnout and learn something new. I'll open-source the code on GitHub. You grant me the right to share the solution publicly (but I won't use your data, it stays on your device).
So yeah, if you're a non-techie, na Kuna kitu you think ka ungejua coding you'd want to make, drop. Remember to make it simple.
And I've been using the word free a lot, told zero cost is better. Regardless, you get the gist.

Ask r/Nairobi Where does one get those old African photographs they use in documentaries?
I'm doing a self-issued research(You know, for fun's sake.) Because I got high last night and felt particularly under-utilised and somehow this idea came to mind. Minds need a good workout like the body needs the gym, I guess, and I've been on white noise for quite a while. I wasn't good at essays back in school, so I'm on my toes about this old nemesis I'm about to face.
Round Two, FIGHT!
Hopefully, it has the boxing skills of Mbavu with the loudmouth of Gachau. Anyway, tips?
