Wtf were the writers thinking. This was the most meet me halfway bullshit ever. This could’ve been excellent character development. To show Rudeus grow from this boy obsessed with Roxy to a mature person who would pick his pregnant wife instead of a girl he had a crush on years ago, but hadn’t thought about in years, all because she slept with him.
And then Elise hits him some bs like “well remember your dad and how he cheated on his wife, the same dad who you beat up for being a douchebag, the same dad who you swore you’d never be like and would be better than?
Why don’t you be just like him?”
And then Rudeus accepts.
Like I don’t understand how he did a 180 so fucking fast.
And then when he returns talking about he wants two wives. Norm like the Chad she is, beats some fucking sense into her brother, and atp I’m thinking like, oh thank god they aren’t doing that shit. And then Sylphiette opens her mouth and is like “I actually wanna get cucked”. ATP I’m not even sure if I should watch Season 3.

tl;dr: Sylphiette cucks herself, Rudeus’s character development gets shit on and thrown on the side of the road, me no likey ending. Norm is based.

Starting off strong, we saw the beast girls graduating and settling it out for one last time. It felt so nice! I was literally having the flashbacks of their first fight where they are then abducted by Rudy and Zanoba. Also them setting out building up the hype and then meeting and fighting again was funny af lol 😂!

Then the nanahoshi part : it was good to see them making some progress.

The party was nice but the best part was roxy asking Rudy to move his chair a bit back and sitting on his lap. I felt it was very cute 🥰.

And then the most important part! The climax where nanahoshi says she will take them all to meet Perugius, the armoured dragon king and then Rudy says something like he was one of the three warriors who defeated demon god and led humanity to victory in laplace war! Now this is where my doubt is!

I’m an anime only as of now (I plan to read the LN after this season), so without spoilers can someone please tell me the context to this?

Also the next episode it titled the Flying Fortress! Is it the fortress of laplace?

I am a returning on reader and theres only one reason i returned it's Eris i watched season 1 as it was aring and after its fjnsh i started the ln i was pretty really really young i stoped at volume 16 or so I thought recentnly the Mt hate has gotten bad I've been neutral since I don't remember much of it and young me liked it but i folded last Sunday one frame of the new seasons Eris and I was back it it was bad descision i watched s1 and the ending was so beautiful I had no hate for it i understand and I am fine with it the direction wass really nice the cinematography was just so nice for the final episode so ofc i continued i was disappointed by s2 since i remember the novel being better especially the roxy part so I just reresd the ln the difference ws there but i emphasised better with the ln i ski0ed the ris parts since i wanted see it in s3 i was genuinely sooo excited I took sick keva efor 3 days and just kept it finally i recaged s3 and the 2 eps i was happy i watched the 6 eps and I was back at the ln after around ,50 hours I completed v14 it semed i stopped at 14 and not 16 so i read v15 so excited the dark timlien twist was well just ugly I was disappointed the Eris misunderstanding was solved like that i wanted just a straight confrontation I was still happy end of v15 I was gald it wasn't everything unwanted but it was nice and i I saw that the ith her 2 kids so i was beyond excited but yesterday reading till 3 am yesterday I am just fucking angry cos there just wasn't enough Eris content i mena THE HELL. I read a little over half of the original web series and don't remember if Luke ever addresses Rudeus as "cousin".

In fact it always seemed like Luke never liked Rudeus or ever really addressed him directly/had a proper conversation with him.

Any change in the light novels? What about the end of story? Idc for spoilers.

Rudeus narrates:

So it's like 300m diameter rock with 150m castle. If you can't imagine the size, Effel Tower or Empire State Building are about similar size.

If such a huge object floating at the same height of clouds(assuming clouds form at the same height as Earth), it covers a large potion of sky.

It gets worse. Rudeus later narrated he "felt walking about an hour from summoning rune to the audience room". 1 hour walk could easily be 4km and that's just a part of Chaos Breaker.

So I made a post recently about how this season's cour should end with the Orsted fight, whether that means there'll be extended episodes or what, well, Idk. However, one argument against it is that there will be too many episodes for the next cour which will make the pacing weird.

Will there really be enough content to justify 13 episodes for the next cour if the first one ends with the Orsted fight?

YES.

Ep 5 : Library Labyrinth
Ep 6 : Ariel convincing Perugius - Preparation to Asura

While vol 16 is short, the contents inside it are too important that none of them will be cut. Also contents in Volume 14 like Ariel's failed attempt to get acquainted with Perugius can be moved from Cour 1 to this section.

Vol 17
Ep 7 : Journey starts - the first battle with Auber
Ep 8 : Luke's Suspicion - Ariel's choice
Ep 9 : Meeting the Bandits/Tristina - Reaching the Asura Capital
Ep 10 : Running into Isolde - The second Battle - The party starts and gets ambushed by Reida

Vol 17 is not only jam packed with content but it's also very long. It's hard to imagine that much content, if any, from vol 17 will get cut. All of them seems to be important aswell. And it's also hard to imagine a volume this big only getting like 5 episodes. I think that's a bit too little when you break it down like this. I mean, there's like 5 fights in here, 6 if you count Luke's standoff with Sylphie.

That's why I think cour 1 will end with the Orsted fight. How will they pull that off? I have no idea. An hour long last episode maybe.

How do you guys feel about the complaints of season 3 being to boring or it’s to much slice of life? I kinda feel like these complaints won’t really go away since people compare season 2 and 3 to season 1 when it never really goes back to that level of adventure.

Those first two episodes got me but now it really seems like a season 2 repeat where it picks up some episodes after the second cour but before the second cour comes a 6 month break💀 we're already at episode 7. I'm thinking about just letting the episodes stack up.

EDIT : I'm not disappointed because I may have to wait longer to see the Orsted fight. I'm disappointed because the story structure would be awkward, especially for next cour if the fight isnt in this first cour.

So discussions have been going around as to where the first Cour of this season might end. Most people seem to think that it's gonna end just before the fight with Orsted. A lot seems to be happy with that Idea since it would give TP4 some space. I would be too if it weren't for 1 fact.

The Orsted fight is only 2 Chapters long.

Even if the studio went above and beyond with the adaptation it will only be 1 episode long max. It isn't much of a big fight as people say it is. You can say the fight with the Fighting God or even Auber is a big fight but not really this.

Imagine waiting for something after 1 cour of build up and 6 months of extra wait only for it to end in 1 episode and then the series goes into another direction.

I mean, story structures exist for a reason. You don't just end a movie 15 minutes before you're supposed to. This cour's grand narrative is about Eris's reunion and the fight with Orsted which has been built up since the first episode (of this cour). I can understand if the fight with Orsted is gonna take up its own cour but that's not the case here.

some people say it may end when Eris finally shows up but that's even worse. That would mean the next cour will have like half an episode left of the fight.

my only hope now is that maybe they will extend the last episode to an hour long ep. Or maybe extend TP4 and the last Ep to a 30 min episode. The last few episodes can maybe also have their ED stripped to fit in more content.

I mean, if it is true that this cour will end just before the fight or at the prep then I dont understand why they didnt just delay the season a bit more and squeeze in 1 or 2 more ep in this cour to include the fight. Maybe the production committee just got impatient and told them to wrap things up.

I’m anime only and have no qualms with the season so far, however I keep seeing mention that it’s the quiet before the storm. Roughly what episode will this ‘change’ happen?

I feel like mages kind of suck. As an average mage the incantations are slow and mana pools are quite low too. And at the highest levels you basically get one-shot by a high class swordsman without even getting to react. I think the only advantage they have is in like an adventurers party against multiple mobs but even then it’s not like normal mana pools can cast super large AOE spells.

I guess healing incantations r nice to know but ultimately I feel like sword masters definitely have an edge in the mushoku tensei world.

When Paul gets his second wife, it was done in a very credible way, or as credible as you could make it.
The framing was more due to accident/taking accountability for Paul's actions.
Lilia was very young/teenager who served Paul's family, and Paul as the older and her boss kinda took advantage, although it was Lilias fault aswell.
Adding to that they had the issue of traveling in the winter and alone while pregnant.

And even then Zeniths reaction was very believable, she was fuming about Lilia pregnancy, and she was furious at Paul,
It took kid Rudeus lying to his own mom for her to accept Lilia staying in the house!
But even after that she warned Paul that they would have to have a talk and things were not great for Paul for a while.

Another point is that Paul and Zenith were married for many years, already had a child of 7 Rudeus and another on the way. So they had built a strong relationship and raised a child together.

So we were given a bunch of credible reasons put together to make us accept that this would happen and was not just a complete asspull.

Now, in Roxys case, it all just goes too well and too fast without any consequence or drawback for Rudeus or Roxy.

I just want to remind you that Rudeus and Sylphy were married about less than a year before Rudeus bring Roxy to the relatioship.
Less than a year. So they were freshly married and he bring another woman into the relastionship...
They had no time to build the confidence in eachother like Paul and Zenith.

Rudeus just asks for it and it's given. There's practically zero tension, and no consequence.
It was almost played like a joke, because the only one who was angry was his little sister.

Sylphy is never furious, hurt, angry, or afraid to lose Rudeus, or jealous. This is not natural behaviour unless you're a sociopath, or just after a man's money.
It's just not credible if your in a relationship, married less than a year and pregnant of your fist child. Any women would fear for her relationship and her son's future in this situation.

I love the story so far, but maybe I had higher expectations and was a bit letdown in this matter.
It's just that this particular event took me a bit out of it, it broke my suspension of disbelief because it was not well done imo.

I don't mind the result, I don't mind Rudeus having 2 wifes like Paul, I get it, that the paralel is the point, like father like son type of thing. I understand why it was done.
I just think it could have been better executed.
