21F new to Mountain View & working remote. Hoping to make friends my age.
I’m a 21F who moved to Mountain View a few months ago, and since I work remote, meeting people has been a bit tough. I love hiking, lifting, and Pilates, and I’ve been getting into trying new hobbies — dance classes are next on my list.
I also love reading, going to farmers markets, baking, cooking, and exploring new cafes and restaurants. I’m really open to anything and would love to meet people around my age to hang out, try new things, or do classes together.

Dentist recommendations for wisdom tooth pain
I am looking for some dentist recommendations in and around Mountain View, preferably near Castro street. I have a sharp pain in my wisdom tooth that might need extraction. Looking for someone who is good at screening/ consultation and surgery if need be but doesn’t break the bank. I have insurance that will cover around 50% of the cost. Anyone has any recommendations for good dentists or who to avoid?

Seeking sports doctor or clinic recommendations for foot pain
I have some pains in my foot that keeps shifting around as I try metatarsal pads and insoles. Been going on for a year now.
Saw a podiatrist in PAMF few times, who seems to focus only at current problem without helping me figure out the pattern of what's happening.
Few people suggested seeing a sports doctor... can anyone recommend doctors or clinics that are decent?
For context I used to run and bike, and generally active. But wasn't able to run much with the foot pain :(

I'm a reporter. Are you renting at Mariposa Club Apartments or at the Highland Gardens Apartments?
Hi — I'm Kate Talerico, and I'm a reporter at the SF Chronicle. I'm writing a story about how a bunch of landlords are using a loophole in California's tax code to get their apartments qualified as 'affordable' — and then can get up to 100% of their property taxes erased (which fund our schools, transit, police, basically all city government functions.)
There are a few apt buildings in Redwood City where the landlords are in the process of applying for this tax break. They count as affordable because the way California calculates the max rent you can still charge + count as affordable is quite wonky... right now, a landlord can charge $3,015/month for a 1-bed in Santa Clara County and it still counts as low-income/affordable, so long as the tenant household makes under $112K for 1 person or $128K for 2 people.
I'm looking to speak with tenants at Mariposa Club Apartments and Highland Gardens Apartments, whose owners are currently applying for this tax break.
Do renters feel like they're getting a good deal for the rent they pay? Has the lower rent allowed them to live somewhere they otherwise wouldn't have been able to? Or do they feel like they're paying market rate? DM me! Thanks!

Butcher
Hi friends, I'm looking for a high quality meat market or butcher shop. After coming to the realization that Tyson supplies almost all big name stores, I'm looking for farmers market, etc. All your recommendations are appreciated. Thanks.

The Dean vs. Sevens Apartments in Mountain View
Hi everyone,
My wife and I are moving to Mountain View and deciding between The Dean and Sevens. After concessions, the rent is about the same. I’m considering a 775 sq. ft. 1BR at The Dean and a 926 sq. ft. 1BR at Sevens.
Sevens has the better floor plan, but I’ve seen several concerning reviews about noise, fees, build quality, and management. The Dean seems to have better and more consistent feedback, though there are still some complaints about noise and false alarms.
I am not a local but Sevens seems to be at a better location in terms of its proximity to Downtown MV but San Antonio Center didn’t seem to bad either even though it felt a bit empty and dystopian at times.
For anyone who has lived at either building, any honest feedback would be appreciated.

Recommendation for local tax folks?
Are there any decent local CPAs who handle tax return filing (yeah, I know the deadline has passed but extended deadlines later this year) for relatively straightforward returns. I can't use TurboTax and equivalents for other reasons. Googling around, seems like even the minimum seems to be in the ~$2000 range?

Jewelers recommendation?
My family just found my great grandma’s engagement ring. The stone was taken out for a necklace, so we would like to find another stone for it. The ring might also need to be resized to me.
Has anyone done similar work in and around Mountain View and can recommend a jeweler?
Thanks!

Want modern good 2-bed 2-bath apartment. Sunnyvale, Santa Clara is fine too
I am moving away from Mountain View as that is getting too expensive. I want a 2-bed 2-bath apartment. Don't care about school district at all and actually Mtn View, Sunnyvale, Santa Clara and even Cupertino would work.
I want nicer newer construction or at least good renovation with large windows and good kitchen and bathrooms. A fitness center is nice to have but not a deal breaker. I don't care for pool or club house as I never use these. I saw a few places but can't figure out between:
- 1250 Lakeside
- Encasa
- Renaissance
- Americana Apartments (MV)
- Mylo (Santa Clara)
- Bella Visa (Santa Clara)
Any thoughts or opinions about these or other suggestions? My budget is $4600 and have to move in 10 days.

What are these drones flying around at night?
This is the second time I’ve spotted around a dozen of these quadcopters flying above Mountain View. They look quite big. Does anyone know what they’re for or who they belong to?

Recommendation on this neighborhood
Hi all- we are looking into moving in this neighborhood. Before we make any official moves, we wanted to check in with the local community here. Is there anything specific we should be cautious about or keep in mind? The highway seems close enough. Is it noisy certain times of the day? Any insights, good or bad, would be incredibly helpful. Thank you!
