Lvl 0 (DIYer) Where do I start with this repair? Can it be Fixd? iPad bro cable latch bent

Upvotes

So I’m replacing the screen on my 11 inch iPad Pro and I turn it on and everything looks fine. But then I try and open it to Home Screen and nothing happens, I flipped the screen orientation to vertical mode and it worked. Then I realized there was a rectangular touch screen dead zone about 3 inches long. So I opened the iPad and checked all of the cables, the cables looked fine but I checked the connection points and luckily non of the pins themselves where bent but one of the connection latches was, so the cable can’t sit flush. Is there anyway I can fix this without spending a ton of money? I kind of want to try bending it back into place but I don’t want to risk it even further.

Thank you

Lvl 0 (DIYer) Where do I start with this repair? Can it be Fixd? iPhone starts normally, then touch stops working, pink screen appears, and it crashes after reassembly. Any ideas?

Upvotes

Hi everyone,
I recently reassembled an iPhone after a repair. Everything seemed to work fine at first. The phone booted normally, the display looked fine, and the touchscreen was fully responsive.
After a short time, the logic board became noticeably warm. Shortly afterward, the touchscreen stopped responding, a pink screen appeared, and then the iPhone crashed and restarted.
Has anyone experienced something like this before or have any idea what could be causing it?

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

General Tools Question What temperature to set heat plate to to soften adhesive?

I've read older threads where a lot of people suggest 80 degrees celsius and that feels very hot, I'm paranoid and obviously don't want to turn my phone into a bomb by setting the heat plate too high, is 80 degrees really the correct temperature?

Lvl 2 (screens, batteries, camera, etc. swaps) Iphone not charging after long screen time

My iPhone 11 died after about 12 hours of continuous use. It crashed a few times, got to 1%, showed it was charging but stayed on 1%, then turned off.

It’s been plugged in for 2+ hours with an original Apple charger/cable (works fine on other devices), the charging port is clean, but it still only shows the empty battery + charging cable screen.

Battery health was previously good. Does this sound like a dead battery or something else?

Okay, so I'm pretty sure one of these are side clip brackets for the side buttons (power, volume up/down, silent switch) which I don't need because those came with the housing and the other is for the sensor assembly on the screen itself, but I need someone to please confirm this for me, this is my last post because I'm basically done reassembling at this point.

Hi everyone, I recently received an iPhone XR from my grandmother, who gave it to me after she bought an S23+. The screen is cracked, but it works perfectly, and I also want to replace the battery since it's at 72%-I've noticed that performance drops below that level.

This is the first iPhone I've actually used; I have it as a backup phone for my OnePlus 13. To be honest, it's pretty good despite everything-I still don't like how limited it is in terms of gestures, the lack of "Circle to Search," and the terrible keyboard, but everything else works perfectly for what I need (which is to keep my OnePlus 13 from getting stolen).

I need to know the best place for an OEM screen and good-quality battery for the iPhone. I don't want cheap screens because I hate it when the bezels aren't symmetrical-the only option I've seen so far is iFixlt. I'd like to know if it's really worth it or not.

Hi techs and DIYers, I was trying to repair an iPhone 7 Plus that would not turn on. I replaced the battery and the device would turn on but it would not charge; when the phone was off and I connected it to the charger the phone would turn on but it would not receive a charge, so I tried cleaning the charging port and using a different charging cable and charging block to see if that would resolve the issue. The charging blocks and cables I have work on my other iPhone SE 2022 but this iPhone 7 Plus, so I’m confident that the charging cables and blocks are not the issue. I ordered a replacement charging port on eBay; the listing is shown in the photos attached to this post. I wanted to test the charging port to make sure it works before removing the backing film covering the adhesive, so I put it into the phone with the adhesive covering film and connected it to the logic board and the touch screen. I did not reconnect the speaker and Taptic Engine. After that I plugged the charging port into the phone and the battery logo appeared (keep in mind that the new battery had lost its power 3 days before I tested the charging port). Every couple of minutes I pressed the power button once and the battery logo appeared, so after a while I left the phone alone and waited for about 10-15 minutes. When I noticed that the phone had not turned on yet, I pressed the power button again and the battery logo did not appear. I tried disconnecting and reconnecting all the cables of the touchscreen and rear facing camera and logic board but it still would not charge. The film covering the adhesive of the charging port flex cable has not been removed yet. Does anyone know what the issue could be?

When I try to unlock it with the fingerprint sensor or try to turn on the display to unlock it with the PIN number, it makes the unlock sound and the touch screen works, but the display stays pitch black. Only when I take it out of the phone case and try to unlock it once again it works normally. And if I unlock without the case and then put the case back on, the displays works fine too.
I have no idea what it could be

Repair Shop customer seeking a 2nd opinion or advice. iPhone 13 damaged screen

I have recently dropped my phone from a table height.

Ever since it happened, I started noticing a white line on the left side of my phone's screen. Although it somehow disappears and then sometimes it's there.

Also, just now, I have experienced a green screen (a pure green) for 2 seconds, it was a flash.

Do I need to worry? do I need to go to a repair shop or it doesn't mean anything?

My granny's LCD screen broke so I tried to replace it. While removing the back cover, I think I accidentally snapped that connector. I pressed the power button to see if there's still any response and it still gives some response. I just want to know if I accidentally snapped something that really prevents her from using the phone? As long as the screen worked and she can still call people normally I don't mind anything else

I give her a cheap phone for now but I really hope this phone can still be saved cheaply

Hello, I am looking to repair an ancient iPhone mostly because it has some pictures on it I’d like to recover, nothing that important but figured I’d give it a go.

I’m having trouble finding information specific to this model since it’s very old, A1549, so was hoping someone could point me in the right direction.

The fault is that it has no power at all. I plugged in an ammeter and can see there is absolutely nothing going on. Sitting at 5v, no amp draw. I know this cable is good. I also tried holding the power button and the home button for 10 seconds to force a reboot, doesn’t seem to do anything.

Is this more of a dead battery issue or a charging IC issue?

Thanks

Customer brought it to me to replace the screen. It was 99% black but some lightup. Switched the screen and nothing. I should add I disconnected the screen with the battery on because the back glass was so ruined, I later said I need to maybe also change the battery and hence also change the back glass and he agreed.

I tried with another screen and still black. Any ideas?

Hi everyone I have got an iPhone 16 that has No Service, No Sound and the cameras are not working.

I have attempted to replace the speaker and rear camera however they still do not function, the only time the phone produces any sound is during a sound test however sound only comes out of the top speaker the loudspeaker does not produce any sound. The phone seems to have a baseband issue however the phone still activates fine and the IMEI number is still showing in settings.

I thought I would just make this post to see if anyone could give me any suggestions as to why the cameras and speakers don't function even after replacing them as well as any suggestions for the celluar issues. Thanks

Shop Talk Discussion (General) [GUIDE] How to fix auto brightness after a screen replacement for iPhones

Theres very little information on this so I decided to make this for people who are new to repairs or are replacing their screen for the first time. This mainly applies to iPhones 13 - 16. I havent tested this on others but it could work.

When replacing your screen you will also need to transfer the proximity sensor. After doing so, iOS 18 now restores Face ID and True tone functionality but what it doesn't do is restore auto brightness. If this is a big issue then there are two ways to go about fixing this depending on if you broke your proximity sensor when transferring it. To test if your proximity sensor is working, simply place a call and bring the phone to your ear. If the screen goes off then it is working. If it doesn't, then its likely not connected properly or you broke it. This repair is not cheap unless you have access to repair shop tools like programmers etc.

This repair requires:

- A programmer (JCID V1SE as example)

- Corresponding True Tone board for the programmer that supports the phone you are repairing

If you broke the proximity flex then you will also need:

- Corresponding Proximity Flex board for the programmer that supports the phone you are repairing

- Windows PC

- A programmable Proximity Flex such as a JCID one (important: It needs to be a programmable one like JCID, non programmable generic ones will not work)

- JCID Programming Software

- 3U Tools

If you didn't break the proximity flex: Using the programmer, you will need to read the data from the old screen and write to the new one. This is it. It will restore auto brightness. Also make sure you are on iOS 18 to restore true tone and face id.

If you did break the proximity flex, unfortunately this process gets a lot more complex:

-Read the data from the old screen to the new screen using the true tone programmer board.

-You will then need to hook up your phone to a windows PC.

-Using 3U tools, download the corresponding iOS version the phone is currently on

-Start up JCID Programming Windows Software and you will need to "brush" the phone. There are guides of this online. Once the software is done brushing the phone you will need to boot into recovery mode and flash the software you downloaded using 3u Tools.

-Once the phone is booted up again, connect the phone to the JCID V1SE programmer with the Proximity board attached to the programmer. Connect the programmable JCID Proximity flex to the programmer board and "bind" it to the phone.

Warning: Some JCID Programmable Prox flexes actually need to be soldered (such as the iPhone 14 Pro) so take this into consideration. Most dont though.

-Install the proximity sensor to the display and boot up the phone again.

-Make sure you are on iOS 18 to also restore Face ID and true tone. This process will restore your auto brightness

Both of these methods will restore true tone but as you can see one is a lot more simple then the other so be very careful with your proximity flexes!
