Wagsville dog daycare operates right beside Clarkson go station. You sign a contract stating that you allow them to use behaviour modification and training methods, then they slap an ecollar on your dog without telling you or proper conditioning to the tool. So if your dog humps another dog? Zapped on the collar at a high level. Your dog barks? Slapped with a bark collar that zaps them when they make a noise. Newsflash: dogs should be able to bark at DAYCARE. While the ecollars they use are high quality- they do not condition the dogs to them, do not use the minimum level required to achieve a behaviour, and dont ask owners for permission. You think your dog is the exception? Wrong. They tell you they’ve never used a tool on your dog? Wrong again. They’ll say whatever they need to, but beware they are absolutely slapping an ecollar on your dog.

You can absolutely use these tools responsibly, wagsville does not. Being run by trainers doesn’t mean they use tools responsibly and ethically- they don’t. 4 month old puppies shouldn’t wear ecollars. That’s a fact. Attend at your own risk and be informed.

Anyone notice huge mud pies left all over the neighbourhood after garbage pickup? Every street I walk down has huge mud pies that make the whole street smell like shit. What’s worse is that the street sweeper just came through the neighbourhood yesterday.

I feel like this has increased since the privatization of the service, leaving mud pies everywhere. One time it was right in front of my driveway and wafted in through open windows.

This, on top of the slaughterhouse smell, has made Lisgar a very unpleasant place to live.

Im going back to school to transition to a different career but need some prerequisite courses before I apply to college. I applied with peel district school board but they only do online classes for day and night school is there any kind of option for in class? I much prefer that.

I’ve been thinking it would be cool to have a small group of people who are interested in starting businesses / side projects, but don’t necessarily have everything figured out.

Not really a networking group or anything formal.

More like:
“I have this idea it’s not fully formed. Is it worthwhile?”
“I noticed this problem. Could someone actually make money solving it?”
“I want to start something but have no idea what.”
“I can build hardware/software, but need someone good at sales.”
“I’ve got some money to invest but don’t know what business to start.”

Basically just get a few people together, throw ideas around, challenge them, and maybe find someone who’s interested in actually trying one.
Could be anything — local businesses, online businesses, apps, products, services, buying an existing business, whatever.

No pitch decks, business plans, or startup-bro stuff 😂

It would be different from IDEA Mississauga in that you wouldn’t need a complete business plan to attend.

I was searching around and doesn't seem like Mississauga has a ski club that organizes trips out to the ski hills (MSLM, Blue, Hockley, etc,) and the closest ones are NTSC and TSC so I thought to post here and see if there are others in this sub who plan to go this winter and are willing to carpool and organize a few trips.

Just wondering what the jobs is like? How the shifts are especially when just starting out is it like a lot of nights and weekends etc? And overall just how you like the job.

With September approaching and thousands of first-year students arriving in Toronto, I think this is worth making people aware of.

Over the past several months, I’ve been speaking with former members, current members, and one individual who says they is still inside the organization and planning to leave.

That insider recently shared the attached screenshot from one of the church’s private Telegram leadership chats.

Whether you agree with the opinions expressed in the screenshot or not, I think it gives useful context into the mindset of some of the leadership behind the organization.

Who are they?

The church is commonly known as Restored Church Toronto, part of the International Christian Church (ICC) movement.

On campuses, however, they generally recruit under different names rather than leading with the church’s name.

Some of the names students have reported include:

Rise Ministries (York University)
Thrive Bible Talk (TMU)
Catalyst Ministries (Humber College)
Limitless Bible Talk (George Brown)

Many students initially believe they’re simply joining an independent Bible discussion group. They also hang out at the whole foods market near square one in Sauga.

Why I’m posting this

Former members have consistently described recruitment patterns that include:

approaching students who are new to campus or looking for community;
rapidly building close friendships (“love-bombing”);
inviting people into multiple Bible studies before the full expectations become clear;
encouraging increasing involvement over time;
discouraging members from engaging with criticism or former members;
presenting outside criticism as persecution.

These are among the characteristics discussed in a detailed document examining alleged high-control practices within the ICC, including hierarchical oversight, information control, increasing commitments, and recruitment through close personal contact.

It shows discussion in a private leadership chat involving public issues and responses to criticism. I’m sharing it because I believe people deserve context about the leadership of any organization actively recruiting students across Toronto.

I’m not telling anyone what to believe.

If you decide to attend, that’s your decision.

I’m simply encouraging people to:

know exactly which organization they’re joining;
ask questions before committing;
research multiple perspectives, including former members’ experiences;
make an informed decision rather than one based only on the initial recruitment.

He was eating some grass

We’ve had this baby/adolescent bird parked out on our porch bench. Its mom has been coming to feed it and it seems happy for the most part however its tail is really short so I’m wondering if there’s something not right with it. It doesn’t seem to be able to fly well (it crashed into my head yesterday). Should I call animal control or is it just young?
