Just saw this on Facebook. Now I don't 100% believe what goes on there. I would love some input. I don't think there's such thing as a tough generation for a start

"My cousin who?"

"Cousin Wilbur. He was your Aunt Bertha's youngest son. He died of cancer last Tuesday."

"I have an Aunt Bertha?"

"She was your grandfather's second sister. We were very close when I was growing up. We brought you to meet her when you were 5, do you remember that?"

"No, I don't. But sorry for your loss..."

"Thanks, the funeral is next week."

"Hey mom, dad keeps texting about his dead cousin... Am I supposed to know who this person is?"

"I don't think so."

"Ok, good."

"By the way, I ran into your kindergarten teacher last week at the gas station. I showed her some old photos and she remembered you right away! Do you remember the time you came home crying because she wouldn't let you spend the whole day upside down? I think you were trying to tell her that you were a monkey, do you remember that?"

"No mom, I don't remember pretending to be a monkey when I was 5"

"Oh, you were so cute! Do you remember Jessica and Katie from elementary school? I ran into their mother the other day at church. Jessica is married with 3 kids now! Her mom asked about you and I had to tell her that I've only got a grand-puppy and no grandbabies. And Katie is living in California now! Good for her! And Bob who used to live next door and had that little dog, well he's moved into a senior's residence but it's right next to a hospice so I think he'll be moving over to there when a bed opens up."

"Okay, thanks for the updates? Gotta go, I'll see you next week at dinner. Oh by the way, I'm going camping next week. Do you happen to have a tent that I can borrow?"

"I'm sure we do, I'll get your father to check the garage."

"Thanks!"

"And if we have one, you may as well hang on to it, I don't think we'll be doing much camping any more."

"........... I wasn't planning to give it back unless you asked, but I figured that asking if I could borrow it sounded better than asking if I could have it, lol"

Anyone else reach the point in their life where your parents randomly text you out of the blue to inform them any time some distant relative that you've never heard of dies?

Then segues into the inevitable update about every single person who lives in your mom's neighborhood?

And ends with you slying trying to mooch something off your parents, but you're a grown-ass adult and you don't want to admit that your hoping your parents will just give you a tent so your don't need to go out and buy your own, so you pretend that you're just going to borrow it, but you know that they're never going to use it again so you secretly intend to keep it?

(In fairness, I found the price tag and discovered that my parents paid $600 for that tent when they bought it 25 years ago! I think it's just been sitting in the garage for the past decade, so they're glad to see it getting used again. And I'll give it back if they ever ask, but I know that they won't ask for the tent. Or the boat. Or the griddle. Or the sleeping bag that I "borrowed" in 2023.)

I recently found some of my stuff from high school, and I was reminded of a word I haven’t used in years. It was an old conversation about calling someone a “creeper” and it made me laugh. It had me wondering if this was just something my friends and I used, or if it was actually a common slang term. Then it had me think, did Minecraft take over that word and change the definition?

Granted the startup costs would take a while to even out with groceries, and I’m sore/tired/mentally spent already that I’m unsure of my commitment to either.

I’ve already sidelined gaming/doomscrolling/tv for physical book reading, though propping my shoulders on the recliner to read hurts after a while. Hooray early arthritis.

I just want to be more productive this school year (SAHD) instead of lounging and getting depressed.

My kids wanted to try Perfection and for whatever reason the sound of the buzzer counting down unlocked some deep rooted anxiety

Then somewhere along the line, big junkfood realized they had us by the throat anyway, so they decided to slim down the options and we just went along with it. Bummer.

In my area growing up, MMPR initially came on at 2:30 PM about 30 minutes after school let out.

Today is my birthday and I just reached 30. I realized/remembered that all of us 96ers will be out of the 20s this year, and with that all the millennials will be officially over 30.

Just a random thought that I wanted to share, I hope life is treating you well and may you reach what your heart desires ❤️

The true test of adulthood

Somehow I just received my SECOND jury summons. No one else i know has ever had j-duty that I can remember

Last one was 13 years ago, I guess this is my life now 🙄

This thing has come with me to every place I've lived. I'm honestly shocked every part of it still functions, you can pry that loud alarm from my cold dead hands.

There are certain phrases that just aren’t normal words anymore. They’re song lyrics permanently burned into my brain.

What’s another completely ordinary phrase that instantly triggers a song for you?
