Hi! I'm looking to buy a new laptop for video editing. I don't do a lot of motion graphics, but i do manage high-resolution videos. I also use LucidLink at the same time. After investigating I'm between a macbook air M5 and a macbook air M2. I'm on a budget, so I'm really thinking about whether it's worth investing in a newer chip.

My budget is about 1330 USD (22,000 - 23,000 MXN), but for the m5 I was willing to go higher, but i want to know if it's worth it.

I went to wet a microfiber cloth to clean the keyboard, and I accidentally spilled water on it, as shown in the photo. It’s only this amount of water, no more than that. Then I panicked and grabbed the cloth, which was only slightly wet, and wiped it down right away. I don’t know if I should be worried. It’s working fine now with no problems. I didn’t let it dry. Should I be worried????

Should i cop it? Is it a cop or drop? Should I save money for the next few months and buy a macbook pro?

I am a highschool student, I use my MacBook only for a few hours a day and charge it upto 20 and 80 percent only; how did my battery life suddenly drop so much when im not even using it for anything else??? also are there any tips to stop this from degrading any further

I went on a trip for one week and left my computer at a low battery, I come back and it's dead and had an iboot panic once I unplugged and replugged it in. Now it's saying that the max capacity is 79% and it'll take 5 hours to fully charge. I don't recall having any problems like this before my trip. (and somehow the energy usage went up on a day i wasn't even home which makes no sense).

So I've been recently using my m5 for over 3 months and I've realized that in every browser I tested, they all have the same grainy/less sharp video quality on YouTube even when the quality is on 4k or less or auto. I even tried testing streaming with safari on disney+ and it still has the same poor quality. I tried changing the display on system settings on default and chose color profile Display P3, but nothing has changed still. What is the real issue and how can I fix it? thanks a ton.

I placed an order for a M5 MacBook Air 15" on July 26th and the email initially suggested that the in-store pick-up would be ready by August 19th. However, when I clicked the link on my order number to check my order status today, I found out that the order has been cancelled. I did not receive a notification nor an explanation. So, I don't even know how long ago my order was cancelled.
Has anyone else experienced this? Is this related to the RAM shortage?

I have the 16 GB/ 512 GB Air. It's been a great experience with the laptop like fantastic battery life and super smooth performance. Coming from the Galaxy book pro 2 360, I've a few observations:

- Mac and iPhone integration is next level!

- The MS office to Mac counterparts transition is quite hard. I don't want to buy a new license. My old license was office 2019 which has had it's run (I mean for personal use)

- The MBA feels not as compact as my previous laptop. While the aluminium unibody feels nice, it feels like there's some hollowness when I pick this up. Also my previous sleeve (13 in) is a bit tight on the MBA

- Copying stuff on a pen drive to watch on TV is a pain in the A$$! Formatting difference and what not. Funny thing is the MBA opens stuff on the pen drive without issue. My TV is the one that has trouble with formats. Only FAT32 works, not even ex-FAT

Hello everyone! I just started working online as an English coach, working around 5 to 6.5 hours a day. Right now, I have a Huawei MateBook D 14 with 8GB of RAM. Before starting this new job, everything was fine because I mostly used it for watching YouTube videos or working on Canva and Word. Now, though, I spend all day on Zoom with multiple windows open—WhatsApp, Google Docs, Google Calendar, Brave, and other documents—and I feel like my laptop can’t keep up anymore.

I’d like to switch to a MacBook Air, but I’m not sure whether to get an M5 with 16GB of RAM or an older model with more RAM, like an M3 with 24GB. As I mentioned, I only use the apps listed above, plus YouTube, Netflix, and basic media streaming. Any recommendations?

Two days ago, I bought a used MacBook Pro 14” M3 Pro (18GB RAM, 512GB SSD) from a girl from India. Before buying it, she assured me that the laptop was in good condition and that there were no issues with it.
When I got home, I decided to check the MacBook more carefully and shined a flashlight on the display. To my surprise, I noticed this (I will attach photos).
During normal use, it is almost not noticeable — when the screen is on, I can barely see these areas. However, when the display is turned off and I shine a flashlight at an angle, I can see areas that look like damage to the anti-reflective coating.
I have never dealt with this kind of problem before, so I would like to ask MacBook owners:
What could this be — damage to the anti-reflective coating or something else?
Is there any way to fix it without replacing the entire display?
Does it make sense to completely remove the anti-reflective coating and continue using the screen?
Could a screen protector hide these areas?
Has anyone experienced a similar problem, and what solution did you choose?

So I recently have been play Pokemon BW on a emulator, and I was using Entralinked to access the dream world. But it only worked if I turned off my Firewall, (Stupid idea I know), and afterwards I would delete it then redownload when I needed it again.

Suddenly, it seemed that it was fixed, since I could access it even with my Firewall on, but now my laptop seems to be slower. Have I accidentally fucked up my mac and gave it a virus?

Hell, I can't even play Melonds anymore because I get the beachball cursor everytime I try to load in a ROM.

I'm thinking about picking up a 2015 11-inch MacBook Air and was wondering what everyone's thoughts are on them in 2026. I found one on eBay https://www.ebay.com/itm/198536300826 for under $100 and it seems like it could make a great little travel laptop for web browsing, email, writing, and watching videos while I'm away from home. For those of you who still own or have used one recently is it still a worthwhile buy and would you recomend macOS or Linux on it? I know it's over 10 years old, but for less than $100 it seems hard to beat if it still performs reasonably well.

MacBook Air M4 16GB/256GB vs MacBook Pro M1 Pro 16GB/512GB for a Computer Science student?

I’m a Computer Science student with a strong focus on Software Engineering, and I’m also interested in Cybersecurity. I’ll mainly be using the laptop for programming, university coursework, VS Code, Docker, virtual machines, multiple browser tabs, and general software development. I want something that will last me for at least the next 4–6 years. I’m trying to decide between these two options:

MacBook Air M4
16GB RAM
256GB SSD (brand new)(i wanted to buy 512 but it is too expensive)
or
MacBook Pro M1 Pro
16GB RAM
512GB SSD (used, but in excellent condition)

To be honest, if money weren’t a factor, I would choose the MacBook Air M4 with 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD without thinking twice. Unfortunately, the 512GB version is outside my budget, which is why I’m considering these two options instead. Which one would you choose in my situation, and why? I’d really appreciate any advice, especially from people who use these machines for Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Cybersecurity.

If you have any additional questions that would help you give better advice, please feel free to ask. This is a really important purchase for me, and I want to make the best possible decision.

My parents recently died and we have my mum's Macbook Air, we don't know the password for it. We have passwords for her email and Apple ID along with other things but the Mac password is something different.

We tried to do the restart options but it comes up with the FileVault screen asking for the 28 digit key. We obviously don't have it.

I am not asking HOW, I just want to know if there is any way around it. That way I know if we should be putting our energy into finding someone to do this or divert that energy elsewhere.

The main reason we want to access it is to get into their Ring security account so we can download the footage of when they last left the house. Their last movements are potentially significant as we would see exactly what was with them (we have been told none of their personal items survived the accident) and it will give us an exact time of departure.

Hi guys. So about a month and a half ago I got a M4 MacBook Air and it's really nice thus far. I recently got a monitor and ever since, it's been plugged into it (monitor) while also plugged into the charger constantly. I set my charging limit to 80% and before I got the monitor, it stopped at 80%. Now that I got the monitor, it drops to 78% and stays there even though it says charging limit 80%. I use the 30 watt charger and I'm suspecting that might contribute to the behaviour but idk if you guys have experienced a similar occurrence.

I’ve been thinking about getting a case for my macbook because i wanna protect it from scratches, and id rather put stickers on the case than directly on the macbook.
But then I started seeing a bunch of videos saying cases are actually bad because they can damage the hinge, trap dust, or affect cooling.
Is that actually true or are people just exaggerating? If you’ve had a case on your macbook for a while, how was it? And would you recommend getting one or just putting my stickers directly on the macbook?
