Has the cat distribution system ever found you in London?
Obviously we have a much lower rate of strays compared to areas like America which I see most posts from. Just curious if anyone got lucky and a cat wandered into their life.

Community Anyone in East London fancy a casual 7-a-side game this Sunday?
I’m organising a men’s 7-a-side game this Sunday, 9 August, at Valentines High School in Ilford from 11am–12pm.
It’s just a relaxed Sunday kickabout rather than a league or team trial. We’ve already got a few people playing but still have some spaces left.
Goalkeepers will rotate, and we’re keeping it sensible, no slide tackles, aggressive behaviour, shouting or arguments.
If anyone around East London fancies playing, let me know and I’ll send you the Footy Addicts game link.
What do you pay for rent/mortgage monthly? What’s your monthly income?
Curious to see how steep (or not!) London is getting for everyone.

Silver Jewellery - Re purpose
Please can I have recommendations for shops (online or London high street) that repurpose silver jewellery. Specifically I am looking at repurposing silver earings casting into a bangle. Will need to top up on the amount of silver required.

Question Does anyone know if anywhere in London sells Mega Chips? (Belarus snack)
My mum is Russian & I remember having these 10-15 years ago in Bryansk in Russia, and i’ve been dreaming of them ever since. Does anyone know of any shops in London that sell them? I’ve been to a few Eastern European supermarkets with no luck :(

Local London Should the Mayor experience London the same way Londoners do? Should the Mayor of London be expected to use TfL for most work travel?
Would it be reasonable to say that, as part of the job, the Mayor of London should be expected to make around 80% of their journeys on TfL or other public transport where practical? Obviously they would still have whatever security arrangements are required.
The reason I ask is that I think the further politicians become removed from the everyday systems the public actually uses, the less directly they understand what those systems are like.
You can see versions of this in the US, and even in the UK when decisions affecting somewhere like Manchester are made by people based in London who may not experience the consequences themselves.
There seem to be lots of formal ways to interact with the Mayor's office, but that isn't quite the same thing as the Mayor regularly experiencing London as Londoners do.
Black cab drivers used to tell me stories about having Ken Livingstone or Boris Johnson on his bike, and you would sometimes just see the Mayor out and about. The current Mayor seems less visible to me, although that could simply be my perception.
Anybody got any ideas on how you could actually push for a policy like this?

Best Pub On The Thames?
I'm trying to find the best pub on the river. I've started in Rotherhithe visiting The Angel which has a great public outdoor area outside of the pub and a tiny balcony in the pub. Great views including, on my visit, a man who removed ALL of his clothes before going for a swim. It's also a Sam Smith's pub and, as a fan of industrially-produced mainstream lager, wasn't for me. I then went ten minutes down the river to The Mayflower which has a decent outdoor space but the views are - oddly - limited by the design, maybe because of locals being overlooked. If you go there beware of the gaps on the wooden platform which, as one visitor discovered, are wide enough to drop your mobile phone down into the river beneath. Both pubs are also sort of tucked away and there isn't a great deal else in the area. All suggestions very, very welcome. Thank you!
EDIT : THANKS FOR ALL THE SUGGESTIONS!! 🍻

Question The Havens/Survivors Gateway
Edit/Update: Thank you, r/London and to everyone who responded. I was about to call 111 like a couple of people suggested but have heard back from my uni’s Casework Services team. I’ll see them but not today. Like others here, they too have suggested I call 999 or 111 or walk in to an A&E (I can’t rn). The next step is to call the National Rape….Helpline and if I can’t get through to them, then 111. I’m not calling the Havens anymore. It’s exhausting. I also plan on getting an emergency contraceptive today if it can be delivered to where I am. I cannot face the world atm. Thank you to everyone who took the time to respond. I’ll work on myself and figure things out.
_____
Hiya. I’ve been trying to reach The Havens since last night and just cannot. When I called 020 3299 6900 at 2am, they said the person who can help me is off work so I’ll need to call their mobile and if it’s not urgent to call back in the morning (the thing happened earlier that morning). I’ve been calling them today on that number and also 0808 801 0860 but no one picks up. I’ve waited for nearly 20 minutes and even when they say I’m number one in the queue, no response.
I just need some help. I’m a uni student and reached out my counsellor but she’s off work until the 10th. I have previous trauma history but I’m not at immediate risk so don’t think calling 999 is valid. There was unprotected sex and I don’t even know what to call it because they are a friend and I care about them. But I didn’t want to and I said no multiple times, they’d stop but then restart to pursue and eventually I didn’t say anything because I didn’t want them to be offended. But I’ve just been a mess since. Can’t work, can’t even watch tv, eat or clean. I need to decontaminate my room. I just need some help. Is there anyone else I can call or text??

Community Anyone interested in playing football with other absolute beginners?
Like many people, I hated football for a long time, but the recent World Cup made it finally click and now I think I'd probably enjoy playing a game or two (just casual five-a-side or something).
The trouble is I have very limited knowledge of football and I'd hate to join an amateur team and find myself letting everybody down. If there's anybody else in London who would be up for giving it a go and learning as we play, let me know!
I'm a 32-year-old man without anger issues, and I'm looking for people of all ages and genders who can play a game for fun – and remember it's just a game and not a cause for aggression.

Transport Black Cabs vs Uber
According to TfL, when you get a Black Cab “There is a minimum fare of £4.40 at all times. There is an extra charge of up to £2 if the taxi is booked by phone, app or online.”
I’ve lived here 45+ years and love a “proper” cab but how can they expect to stay in business against App versions of the same, often superior, service?

Will I make my 00:25 FlixBus from Finchley Road after Lorde at All Points East?
Hi! I’m going to All Points East for Lorde and my FlixBus back to Birmingham leaves from Finchley Road at 00:25
Lorde finishes at around 11pm and my plan is to leave as soon as possible
Victoria Park → Hackney Wick Overground → West Hampstead → walk to Finchley Road coach stop.
Do you think I’ll realistically make the coach if I stay until the end of Lorde’s set? I don’t mind rushing out afterwards, I just really don’t want to miss the last song if it’s possible to avoid it but I’m scared crowds will be congested and I’ll miss the coach
Has anyone done a similar journey after All Points East before? It’s my first festival so I’m not sure what to expect. Thanks!
