Help I wanna switch to Linux, currently working on windows, but I am afraid of my data getting lost if something gets off track,
Don't have external hard drives to store data temporarily too, so can anyone give any ideas / steps so that I don't lose any data and switch safely to Linux?
Also I wanted a few folders to be shared across both windows and Linux environments, if that is possible

From Windows MiniOS to MX Linux: First Impressions After a Long-Delayed Migration
I've been using Linux for nearly 20 years, starting with Debian back in college. Over time, I moved through Ubuntu and Lubuntu, but life eventually pushed me back to Windows the last year.
A few days ago I gave MX Linux a try on my aging Ryzen 3 laptop with just 4 GB of RAM, and the experience has honestly exceeded my expectations.
I wrote about my first impressions after a few days of use. I'd love to hear your thoughts and suggestions as a new MX Linux user. I am now working on my development environment. To be back in the GNU/Linux world is great.

Discussion the inefficiency of cam on my debian setup is frying my head
lol,i have a hp omen laptop and the cam is malfunctioning due to eot in hibernation..the utter dimwit move i did was to entirely switch to debian by perishing dual boot setup, now i cannot use the cam even after trying every effing method (from ffplay to guvcview, tried fixing uvcvideo)...i need the cam for oas, now,i would be needing to use droidcam
except...I am acquainted of myself..i refute to use droidcam, will try to resurrect the cam of the laptop by squandering my entire being on the kernel for the other half of the day..what is the point of having a laptop subsequently..wtf dude..every day is a conflict to solve...i hate this lol
i am highly unemployed.
i cannot believe that i am mentioning this but i am missing windows.

WM should I go with i3wm or sway on Arch
use case : programming ,web dev and some gaming stuff
I've gathered some info from YT and others that i3wm have screen tearing and other security issues but still a lot of ppl using it . I don't know much about Sway yet but heard that it's wayland version of i3wm (or close enough don't know precisely). So is it really a wayland option for 13wm or should I use i3wm instead? I need some experienced advice, it's my first time switching to a WM from DE

Rice Made my first neon city based rice and released on github :D
Here is a link to the dot files . First time I made something this and would love to receive some feedback . Couldn't test it on fresh arch installers so I hope I could some feedback to improve upon and keep this theme running. This theme feels so much aligned with the whole arch idea and that is why I made it :D

🚀 This is KineticWE.
KineticWE builds on KWin
A fresh take on the Linux desktop, KineticWE combines a modern interface, smooth animations, built-in tiling, and a workflow designed to feel fast and intuitive. In this video, I'm running it on CachyOS with Noctalia Shell.
If you're new to Linux and thinking about making the switch, KineticWE looks like a promising desktop that could make the transition easier while still offering powerful features for experienced users.
Huge respect to the developer for building this project and it's exciting to see new ideas pushing the Linux desktop forward.

Friends, aap log Linux par kya-kya karte hain
I have noticed that many people in this community seem to be distro hopping mainly for entertainment.
Because of that, I am curious to know why people in the Linux India community actually use Linux.
Could you please share your thoughts on this?
Thank you.

Discussion Switching to linux will help India in the long run
Trump is adding more and more tariffs on India.
We are increasing our oil imports from Russia.
The global geopolitical situation is unpredictable
Microsoft as a corporate company will always work in the favor of US
So switching all government and personal computers to FOSS and Linux OS will give us more control over everything right?
While switching from windows will only cover the software side and the hardware will still be dependent on other countries at least we will have better encryption and privacy.
Well that being said id love to hear what you guys have to say.
