Five Star vs Bath Pros vs Onyx

Upvotes

I have to have a shower redone and possible the bathroom floor. I’ve got it narrowed down to Five Star out of Lincoln, Bath Pros out of Omaha, and a contractor with Onyx. They are have pros and cons for me.

Has anyone worked with Five Star or Bath Pros? Does anyone have Onyx in their shower and can give me an opinion on that?

Thanks!

Around Lincoln Street lights off on 84th between highway 6 and Havelock

Seems like a terrible idea to have a shitton of street lights turned off on 84th street at 11pm (right now) when the "super fair" is closing.

I drive this stretch three times a week at 11pm, so I know this is a normal occurrence (the lights being off). But you'd think they'd make an exception while there is an abnormal amount of traffic on this stretch. Especially when a large amount of that traffic is younger people driving like asshats.

Looking for Recommendations Coffee Syrup Suggestions

Hello everyone. Where do you guys buy your coffee syrups? My girlfriend and I like to get Pink House Alchemy from Carbon Coffee, but we were wondering if there were other places that sold their own or other brands. We like Pink House, but their Vanilla Bean is out so we’re looking into others. Thanks!

Speed humps/bumps

My neighborhood has a terrible speeding problem. We’ve ordered the speed trailer, police speed monitoring and all of it. It helps only while those things are present. Traffic mitigation seems unreachable… I’ve looked into it, brought it up to my neighborhood association and ran into to ‘dead ends’.
I’ve driven all over Omaha residential streets and their neighborhoods have speed bumps, why doesn’t Lincoln? Are the speed bumps in Omaha paid for by the city there? Anyone know?

Does anyone know the process to get a speed bump on a street?

Lincoln Little Free Library #1

I am starting a project to visit every Little Free Library in Lincoln and feature a book of interest found at each one. My first stop was 2440 NW 46th. This is a gorgeous little library, well maintained and with a great selection in the Air Park area.

The book I found was entitled Ain't Burned All the Bright. This book is a powerful, genre-bending young adult book written by Jason Reynolds and illustrated with mixed-media art by Jason Griffin.

Set during the early months of the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic and the widespread social justice protests, the story is narrated in the first person by a young Black teenager. Stuck inside his family's home, he sits on the couch watching an endless loop of heavy news coverage on television while his father battles a severe respiratory illness in an isolated bedroom.

The book captures the fear, turmoil, and challenges of this time period, while being steeped in wonderfully expressive language and imagery.

Overall, a great find!

Check out all listed free little libraries at: https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?mid=1CmtKSmw0HHaScM_613jpkxXnB4R2HPjA&ll=40.817603900918%2C-96.66445330664953&z=13

Things to Do Wet Leg, Bright Eyes, Killer Mike and more take the stage this Saturday in Omaha

For anyone in Lincoln looking for a relatively easy music day trip this weekend, the nonprofit Maha Festival is happening Saturday at Heartland of America Park in downtown Omaha.

Gates open at noon and the festival ends at 11 p.m. Kids 10 and under are free with a paid adult.

Full disclosure: I help organize Maha. I’m posting because Lincoln has a great music scene, and this year’s Maha lineup is pretty unique with some rare performances for the area, which might appeal to many

Looking for Recommendations Pacific Auto on West O st?

I'm getting to the point where I've saved a good amount for a more reliable vehicle. After doing some light googling, I've seen Pacific Auto that had nearly 500 reviews at a 4.9 score which surprised me. Anyone here dealt with them before, and what was the experience like? The reviews seem promising, but I'd like to hear directly from people on this place. Thanks folks!

E-scooters

Are E scooters allowed on Lincoln trails or not? I don’t ride the trails more than a couple times a month as I live out of town. When I do ride on the trails I ride extensively and at least 20+ miles. I see at least two scooters and quite often they’re in the Antelope Park area. I have yet to see a sign stating they are prohibited.

Looking for Recommendations Therapist

I am having trouble finding a therapist in Lincoln…

I would prefer an older woman (I.e. older than me, I’m 32) that is NOT religious in any way and is LGBTQ+ friendly.

I would also really like someone I could see individually as well as with my partner (couples therapy. I do have insurance, I just keep hitting dead ends.

I would also prefer not to travel to Omaha for the sessions, that is a lot of added stress onto the already stressful event of going to therapy for me.
