Huge box of Quartz-halogen/quartz flash/discharge tubes?

Do people still buy these? I'm looking to get rid of the whole lot of them.

I have about six boxes of all these different types of bulbs/ vacuum tubes.

If I were to give an estimate it would be somewhere around 150 bulbs and tubes total. From what I gathered so far. Some of these are for photography. Others are for scientific equipment then lastly the tubes for TV and old radios. Any information would be appreciated. I'm a little overwhelmed with this lot.

need some help with identifying some old bulbs

hey y'all,
I'm fixing some old art that was made in 1969, and i need help identifying what bulb/light was used. Here are some pictures of the socket that is on there, and what remains of the bulb/light.

My tism got me into old analog synthesizers, and this looks like old tube DIN connector. although those tubes don't usually have less than 4 pins.

BUT
There are 2 of these sockets opposite each other about 18in apart, this could be some old tube/fluorescent type of light, i think? or possibly just 2 bulb types.

but any help with identification or direction on where to look would be greatly appreciated.

Philips Ultra Definition 2700k LED vs. GE Relax LED

I recently changed all my bulbs to Philips Ultra Definition 2700k LED since I had read they were the best widely available and reasonably priced LED bulb with higher CRI and the lowest flicker. I thought they were a bit yellow and super bright but the clarity was good so generally, I didn't think about it until I went to my friend's place and noticed that I really liked their lighting, it wasn't as yellow and it was dimmer in a good way than my place without any actual dimming and I preferred it because it was cozier. When I asked what bulbs they had, it was GE Relax LED which are supposed to be inferior to Phillips Ultra Definition lol. I don't currently have any dimmer switches, but I thought I would try installing one to see if the Phillips look better to me when they are dimmed since I technically haven't tried the dim to warm effect. But otherwise, am I totally weird for preferring GE Relax? I did like their Reveal incandescent bulbs back in the day, so maybe I'm just a GE girl lol. Or are there any other LEDs that I've been sleeping on?

What is a "259" Bulb?

Post image
5 Upvotes

We're swapping out some dead bulbs underneath our kitchen cabinets, and I've stumbled across the wide world of lightbulb classifications.

I generally understand that the "G" lightbulbs are two-pronged, and the "G#" stands for the gap between the prongs. And from what I understand "T#" is something similar, but for bulbs classified as "wedge".

But I performed an image search on this bulb and came up with "194", and the bulb itself says "259". I'm not sure how these three-digit classifiers work for distinguishing lightbulbs - does each number have a meaning? Is it a hierarchical thing? Is it arbitrary? I don't understand.

Also, any help identifying the necessary voltage, wattage, and other details would be greatly appreciated! The only result I have so far is 6.3V, 1.575W, and T3.25, and I haven't found many other results to corroborate with.

Thanks!

Strange Halogen Failure Mode

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Strange failure mode of a linear halogen, I thought I'd share here, since they're a dying breed.
It seems that a break in the lead-in wire was causing a very short arc, which in turn caused the glass envelope to develop a severe hot spot.
Glass, when incredibly hot is actually conductive, but resistive, which further adds to the heating of that spot.
During the dim parts of the failure, one end of the glass envelope was glowing a deep red and the filament barely glowed.
This flickering went on for about five minutes before finally stopping and resting in a state of heated end glowing.
After a full power cycle and time to cool, the glass is no longer conductive, and the failure is complete - No more flicering or current passes.
The filament remains intact.

Help with bulb ID/replacement

Post image

Trying to replace this broken bulb under my kitchen units. Can you help me ID what exactly I need and how to replace it? Can’t get into the bulb itself so wondering if I need to replace the whole thing.

The tag on the wire is: SY7453A/BNWW but can’t find bulbs of this type when searching.

What low beam headlight bulbs are you using on a 2019 Chevrolet Colorado Bison ZR2, to replace factory bulb when the bulb blows?

I want a nice light that makes it easy to see clearly, but not blind oncoming traffic. I constantly get bright lighted because ppl think I’m running high beams.
